  1. Leviathan is now testing with people, with park employees currently riding. https://www.instagram.com/reel/ClZ9jiqpT9x/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  2. Height requirements have been published on the website Leviathan Trident
  3. Yeah I think you’re right and those dark blue columns would be the existing shade structure.
  4. My understanding was the splash pad was going where trolls village was. They didn’t say that specifically in the presentation, but that’s how I perceived it.
  5. Nothing was mentioned about the Motocoaster. I’m hoping they do refurbish the ride and give it a new theme to match Rivertown. And then they can utilise that store for the land. Would be nice to have the land begin as you cross the train line. That would solve @Vidgamerissue as well!
  6. Before hearing these announcements but knowing there was an announcement on the way, my hope was they would do something in the abc, dreamworks and ocean Parade corner of the park as that’s what’s needing the most work. So the fact they are upgrading those 3 areas by the end of 2024 is fantastic news in my opinion. And then the Dreamworld flyer is a bonus on top of that.
  7. I think the area they are focusing on is great and has been really badly needed for a long time. ABC kids world is without doubt the area that’s looked the worse for a long time. And there’s the old TOT building which could just be sitting there for many years without reworking this entire corner. Dreamworks has started to look a little sad too so it’s needed some love. And theirs the weird corner between tailspin and Gold Coaster that’s needed some attention for a long time too. The old log ride site definitely needs something, but I’d imagine that’ll be the next location of focus a couple years after this massive investment. The Reno of Giant Drop will hopefully help that corner for now.
  8. I actually think it will be less of a thrill than MDMC. They described it as being a ride grandparents could ride with their young grandkids. So I’m expecting to be a similar thrill level to Big Thunder Mountain at Disney.
  9. There are approximately 1000 solar panels on the roof of the Coomera sports centre next door. Which takes up 3500sqm. I assume that number doesn’t allow for the spacing in between rows for maintenance access. But looking into further, there is actually quite a lot of roof realestate with the maintenance buildings as well These four roofs alone backup 5000sqm, so there probably is more than enough roof realestate for 2000 panels. That amount of panels will cover about 30% of the parks annual usage.
  10. This is a rough outline of the footprint that I think Rivertown will take up and it’s not that much area for the two attractions, so either I’m missing some land or they will be a lot more compact than I thought. For a comparison, Steel Taipan takes us around 12,000 sq metres. Based off the concept artwork, the lift hill and majority of the coaster will be around where TOT building was and then will extend towards the tavern taking the land of big red car ride. I’m then thinking the vintage cars will be alongside the train line using the land where the old Rivertown buildings are.
  11. When MDMC came along and the vintage cars were moved to the back of the park, other than the vehicles, didn’t everything else get scrapped. And everyone can agree that when they ‘moved the ride’ 15 years ago, they definitely didn’t just move the ride because it went from being a great attraction for everyone to a boring attraction for most. Relocating the idea of the attraction back to the front half of the park is fantastic news because it ensure the concept of the ride will live on for decades to come, and will hopefully offer the same if not better experience than the original. At least now there won’t be the tower of terror roaring while you’re trying to enjoy a peaceful drive around Rivertown.
  12. I don’t know, but I’d say they could potentially go on the old big brother stage/blue lagoon site. I don’t think they have enough roofs within the park for that many.
  13. Yesterday in the presentation they were saying over $50 million and today in interviews they’re saying over $60 million. Because as you say the new coaster is 35 million, the Dreamland and (I believe) works on Ocean Parade is 15 million. Then there’s the 2000 solar panels, tiger island changes, Dreamworld flyer (which has already been purchased and is being manufactured in Italy right now), plus the vintage cars and other works that happen in the Rivertown area. I can see this being more towards the $70 million price tag.
  14. King Juliens Theatre will receive a major upgrade and will have the more generic name of ‘The Dreamworld Theatre’, which means they can have multiple different shows daily, plus they will have can have more meet and greets here too. The Dreamworks characters will be no more, but they will have the koalas and ABC characters too. Whats also exciting is by the end of 2024 DW will almost have as many coasters as MW. DW will have (6 coasters) - Steel Taipan - Gold Coaster - MDMC - Kenny‘a Forest Flyer (currently Escape from Madagascar) - Big Red Boat - Jungle Rush While MW will have (7 coasters) - Rivals - Superman - Green Lantern - Scooby - Road Runner - The 2 Wizard of Oz coasters (yes, 3 tracks but 2 attractions)
  15. My sketch is very crude, but essentially the train enters onto the yellow track, brakes hold it in place (when the train is on this track it’s either facing forwards or backwards depending on how the ride left the station), then the rotates on the top point axis and ends in the blue position. And this happens on an incline. The brakes then release and the train continues on its journey. So it isn’t a flip track and the track isn’t changing.
  16. I’m guessing the red is where the cars will be and blue is where the coaster is mainly is (but I’m thinking the coasters foorprint will overlap the cars and potentially take over the TOT building too)
  17. They stated the $50 million is the minimum. Jungle Rush is $35 million and the Dreamland project is $15 million. That doesn’t include the new vintage cars, Dreamworld Flyer, splash zone and other works. They also announced 2000 solar panels will be installed. So it could be at least $60 million. But all of this I see as money very well spent. Everything announced is exactly what the park needs, it’s a great direction to head them in, refresh so much of the park. If you look at the park map, these works are for the majority of the parks footprint. And allows for another expansion where the log ride was later in the decade. I also like that we’ll get the Dreamworld Flyer in the first half of next year and Dreamland will be by Christmas next year. I’d say ABC kids world will remain untouched for most of next year while they work on the other kids area. And then later in the year ABC will close so they can begin the works on the new Rivertown.
  18. My understanding is it will be one queue and you won’t know what way you’ll be boarding. The experience of the coaster means that everyone riding will go forwards and backwards at one point.
  19. My understanding is some of the existing attractions may be going, but it’s likely the area will be expanded. The Kung Fun Panda area will be given to Ocean Parade and there will be a splash zone (which I think is replacing the area that the cub kindy/food area was)
  20. It’s this. Every train Will experience going forwards or backwards. But you’ll either board the ride one way and return to the station facing the other. There will also be dedicated ‘show moments’ where the train will slow down. My understanding is it’s a similar concept to Hadgrids magical creature coaster at Universal Orlando. Not the same budget or scale and more whole family focused. The coaster track is by Vekoma and cost less than Steel Taipan, but the entire attraction will cost $35 million due to the immersive theming and show scenes
  21. We could potentially see the TOT station building and tunnel under the train line be removed too during this whole construction phase. The reintroduction of Rivertown will also make the experience and journey on the DW Express much more interesting, rather than just looking at the back of old buildings
  22. Part of the reason for new vehicles being purchased for the attraction is because they will be introducing wheelchair accessible cars. And my understanding is the new cars will be more secure so guests can’t just get out of them if they wanted too.
  23. The coaster will go up an inclined track forward/backward, the train will be held in place, the track will rotate about 20 degrees on its axis and then the train will be released and will travel in the opposite direction. Which means the train will arrive back into the station facing the opposite way. The coaster was marketed as travelling in both directions during the presentation and you don’t know which way you will be leaving the station. My understanding is the entire ABC kids area will be demolished, potentially even the restaurant and will be used for the new coaster and vintage cars.
  24. https://bit.ly/3g2GDYm Can anyone access this article and share it on here? It seems like it would be a really interesting and insightful read.
