  1. 100% And would be good for the people at DW and the industry as a whole in Aus.
  2. " and make sure you eat your veggies or you'll not be coming down!"
  3. Paultons is a fabulous park indeed, I know the team there pretty well. If AW can emulate what Paultons have done they will be in a great place. Biscuit +Shaw Thing had a very enjoyable visit/meeting with the team at AW this week.
  4. Spiders are naturally occurring and would be present in Druidic times. I think the web adds to the effect . Its a pretty impressive web!
  5. Um, The Druid height sign guy is held together with roof rack elastic ropes! So Disney! " Beware the power of the "Abys..mal."
  6. Did you know Goliath is the tallest gyro swing in Australia?
  7. No one likes to see Parks in decline and there are a few in Oz right now, Some are obvious, others less so
  8. I am making enquiries. We certainly believe we can assist. But it will be up to VRTP. Will keep you posted if we do.
  9. Lol. You are way off. Rev too high, margin too low. By some distance. That's all I can say.
  10. Wow, thanks IWERKS for your very generous donation tonight. The reasons most people finding themselves homeless are not what most people imagine. The root cause is usually about traumatic experiences like domestic abuse, violent abuse by parents (unthinkable) sexual abuse, gambling/drug/alcohol abuse of parents and so many (not all) are worthy of our support. Iwerks has donated considerable amounts over the past 4 years and I think that is a measure of the man. Kudos to you Iwerks and big thanks for getting my 2018 fundraising off to a great start! His generous donation is already making a difference tomorrow. I would love the community here to support me in my efforts to raise another $15k this year. Its not easy. Every donation, small, medium or large certainly counts. Do what you can. I assure you Vinnies make every dollar count. Announcement of my next theme parks chapter coming next week. Exciting times ahead. Thanks IWERKS. Wonderful support.
  11. We found an original copy in the archives room in 2015 and framed it. It is sitting in the AW offices reception area.
  12. Had a great half day at FF on Saturday with my kids. Spent an hour and a half discussing bits and bobs with the Parks directors and Sam, the Operations Manager. The Park is looking better every year and I loved the Voodoo ride experience. I did have some constructive feedback but generally FF is going from strength to strength and long may it continue. I will be back this weekend without kids for a more detailed exploration and ride on the other Kraken! Proper Victorian Adventures!
  13. All valid and I wish there had been more cohesion between Goliath (Biblical?) and Abyss, the theming was definitely supposed to provide a close link to that dark, fantasy and menacing side of the Park. I thought the definition of a "Theme Park" though was a park with at least one, or many themes? I agree having defined "lands" or zones is ideal, but multiple themes still make it a theme park. Look up Hybrid theme park/water parks and you will find it is actually a growing trend. AW was a front runner (lol) And show me a park that blends amazing landscaping/carpet like lawns with all of that stuff going on visually better than AW does. Pass the salt.
  14. That "Council Park feeling" rates AW as the top Park in Aus based on Trip Advisor reviews for 2016! (based on the % of 4/5 star reviews of the total) at 92% from memory. I might be a bit biased but that's a bit harsh! I forgot the Pirate theme which hopefully will be expanded on overtime in that zone of the Park.
  15. AW used to be an amusement park. Now it should be classed as a hybrid theme park/water park. In terms of themes there are multiple. Dragons Kingdom, Kahuna Falls and cafe, Water mountain which now has a Gold rush theme to it, " Nautica" which houses Kraken and nearby slides, The Abyss area now incorporating the well themed Goliath and Rampage. You cant say with the level of theming present that AW is an amusement park. As for whoever said "Fun Park" go wash your mouth out with soap!!
  16. I would just like to reiterate my involvement with GW ended some time ago and I have no influence on their marketing, choice/presentation of rides/slides whatsoever. I made a few improvements to their plans where possible but my involvement was so late in the project that not much could be changed. I did influence them to change the name from the proposed "Oz Venture Park" to GW. Phew!
  17. Good call out Paula, certainly Vics best park atm. I'm going tomorrow hopefully.
  18. I agree and I believe history, sometime in the future will show that as something of a nasty pimple on the surface of commercial common sense. Like CEO's that earn 20 times more than the next level below? No one person can make that much difference, ever, except Branson perhaps.
  19. I would probably agree. Most of what you raise is about scale, however. Corporate shareholder-driven leisure business is a flawed model in my view when it comes to high-end experiential businesses and most struggle over a long time frame. ouch.
  20. Ha, I'm sure you would!! I'll just give him your business card!
