  1. As much as I would like to see this reopen, I'm very much doubting it will, especially in 2015. It's almost June, I think it would need a good few months of work to get it reopened. They need new carts, a redesigned station, interior and exterior patchwork, probably a whole lot of new track, new theming, a completely overhauled ride system, modern safety regulations, smoke and fire alarms, significant testing..... Not to mention council approval for all this (has anyone seen the application? No). It's not as easy as flicking the switch and it all coming back to life. Tearing it down would probably be just as costly as bringing it back to life. So it just sits there, for another 10 years no doubt.
  2. I hope this comes as a part of a cyclone retheme! Maybe I should take it upon myself to get some close up photos to see if there's any construction. Jokes. I'm not allowed in dreamworld.....
  3. I think we can rule out a 2015 reopening, at least
  4. Look I'm sorry. Truly I am. The thread's gone now, let's move on.
  5. This is what I think has happened. The mine ride would cost millions to tare down, especially with the threat of asbestos making the endeavor even more expensive. The interior of the ride is used as a storage area, so does currently serve a purpose. Also, the ride closed down due to safety concerns, and reopening it would require a significant investment to actually address the issues that forced its closure. Anyone who remembered riding it (and is not blinded by nostalgia) would remember just how rough it was. Reopening it could potentially cost as much as a new ride would. I think Dreamworld did do testing on the ride and were considering reopening it. Through testing, they obviously concluded it wasn't feasible to reopen it. There hasn't been any work or testing on the ride in several months, so I think it's safe to say, at least for the mean time, that there isn't likely to be any more work done to it. If it was reopening, we would know about it. Not only by the construction work, but because Dreamworld would hint at it, or announce it. Dreamworld sent all pass-holders an email saying 'New motor sport attraction, launching this summer', which is at least 6 months away from being open. If it was reopening this year, we would know. Now it is Gold Rush's 30th anniversary next year. I find it difficult to believe that Dreamworld could do any sort of promotion about Gold Rush without a barrage of haters complaining about Eureka Mountain. In some ways, Eureka has become the giant elephant in the room. Now here's what I predict. I don't imagine Dreamworld would be able to do any promotions about Gold Rush without getting haters. Maybe this might force Dreamworld to act. What they do with Eureka is anyone's guess. Here's what I'd like to see, in order of my preferences. 1. Put in the investment to reopen it 2. Tare it down 3. Board up the ride completely, so you can't see any track. Demolish the old station and build something new there. Make it seem like there never was an attraction there. Paint over all the worn off styrofoam patches. 4. Nothing (most likely)
  6. Yeah but they aren't in the same league as the GC theme parks
  7. Can anyone else think of a 30 year old ride that still manages to draw crowds and wow riders? If DW put the money into reopening the ride, you would expect them to want it to function for 10-20 years. Would anyone really want to ride a 40, or 50 year old wild mouse? If you think about the technology available in 1986, and how much different it is today, it really might be better to invest in something newer, so it can last into the future. It's like the saying, the grass is always greener on the other side, we all want what we can't have. When the ride was functioning it was rough, short, had tacky theming and had low capacity. I don't however like that DW just left it to rot however. That's all been said before, forgive my negativity.
  8. Ok. I'm sorry, but there is a difference between being negative and living in the real world. There is a mine cart with dummies in it (which you can see from the bridge) which hasn't moved in weeks. For them to reopen the ride, a tremendous amount of work would need to be done, which just isn't happening. I live in hope but! There are a lot of good rides in dreamworld, and maybe there could be a half decent rollercoasrer one day.
  9. DW just doesn't care, cause it's only the enthusiasts that care about things like Eureka and a B&M. As the majority of guests don't care, neither does DW
  10. I'm actually surprised about the ABC announcement. With wiggles world, dreamworks experience, how many more kids attractions do they need? And yes! Ocean parade does look good Surely with the amount of money they have been spending recently a new cyclone train would be not too expensive, especially concidering how much if would improve the ride.
  11. Do you think its time dreamworld got a new train for the cyclone? And possibly a re-theme?
  12. Hmmm I have a pretty fair idea that it's not on the cards. Saying that Dreamworld do read these forums so if we can gather enough interest maybe they will change their tune?
  13. The ride won't be reopening ever again. I'm sorry. Dreamworld, can we please have a B&M.
  14. Almost every time I go to MW something breaks down. On the scooby doo spooky coaster there are signs up saying you must be able to climb stairs in case of an evacuation. Movieworld USED to be better than DW imo, but they really have let themselves go. DW has it's flaws but it's better than MW
  15. It might have been sound issues as well as not having to wait for the track to dry after rain
  16. TAKE IT APPART WITH AN ALAN KEY! And put a B&M in it's place. Or an intamin launched coaster, that would be better than the cyclone
  17. I believe the tunnel was a reaction to how close the Motocoaster was built to the TOT and the noise complaints by queuing guests and staff.
  18. I'd really like to see the Motocoaster sold on, I'm sure Aussie world would take it! Then have a B&M put in its place, followed by reopening eureka mountain
  19. Well will it be torn down or just keep standing for another decade?
  20. I would personally like to see the ride torn down (I know, asbestos), and a new gold rush themed ride put in it's place, preferably a dark ride. I don't think letting it rot for another 10 years is an option
  21. Does anyone know what happened to the original tower of terror shuttle car? The tower of terror 2 has been operating for the best part of five years now, and I'm just wondering if anyone suspects the old car to return? Would DW practically be able to run two cars on the one track and alternate between cycles, or operate alternate hours or something similar? Personally I dislike the new extended tunnel, and launching in reverse is fun but I'm still thinking I would prefer the original. I think the new tunnel was added to quieten the loud noise the ride makes, but I could be wrong.
  22. Anyone have any further updates? I hope we see signs of construction soon And any chance we could get the old POV?
