Not sure how we did against projections, but at Seaworld we had a pretty solid holiday season, driven mostly - as attendance has been all year so far - by Shark Bay and Planet SOS. Not sure how trade has been out at Movieworld & Wet 'n' Wild, though I will see what I can find out for you.

Don't know how it was at Dreamworld, but I do know it wasn't a public holiday in QLD today, and NSW are still on school holidays anyway. I wish it was a public holiday though, cause I did a 9 hour day today

The Agenda - What Should They Focus on Now?
joz replied to Obstructure's topic in Theme Park Discussion
How about in the Big Brother house? Seriously I'm surprisingly stumped by that one (I know, the guy who has an opinion on everything ). I'm still stuck on a dark ride for the Jamboree building, but I guess there would be an ok fit there. Perhaps they could go where the shooting gallery and print shops are. Personally I'm not a big fan of those, since Print Shop is more like a Granny May's then a theme park souvenir shop, and shooting galleries are a dime a dozen. -

Hence putting it in the Arcade/bumper car building. Not only does it fit Nick Central, it also fits Ocean Parade  -
I don't think a Vekoma 10 inversion would be the best idea. As much as I like inversions, I think a ride system thats so similar to Cyclone would be less marketable compared with something completly different. Also I'd like to check out Vekoma's new trains in a few years to see if they still get crap over time. I mean, if it requires a Disney Orlando budget to keep the ride smooth then steer clear.

Yeah, though I've changed my mind somewhat. Dark ride for the country jamboree building, and SpongeBob 3D as a replacement for the Bumper Cars/Arcade. -
I reckon if you include the land in behind the Bumper Cars and out the front towards the carpark then you've got heaps of land. I realised on my last visit that Thunderbolt's site isn't as big as I originally thought, but it is smack bang in between two other vacant areas. A smart design and you'd be able to fit a few obligatory flat rides in as well.

What would you like to see happen to the Bush Beast?
joz replied to Wonderbuzz's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Its been done, probably many times, though the only one that comes instantly into mind is Wild One at Six Flags America. -

I want a bonfire. If its not reopened under heritage order, then I think it should be destroyed. If a different park bought BB instead of a new woodie, then I'd be very disappointed. -

There's so many different aspects to look at with Dreamworld (as is it with every park I guess), though I'd be tempted to go something like this: Refresh everything that needs it. Give the entrance plaza a new coat of paint, replace the film in the Imax theatre (I realise there is a new film in there, but what I mean is putting in a film too act as an attraction, not as a pacifier). While pepping up the rides, perhaps themeing could be improved/ restored (GD, ToT and Cyclone particularly). Cyclone also should have its queue redesigned, and the brakes reprogrammed in an attempt to increase capacity. If this fails to increase capacity, then the park should buy another train. Put something in the old Country Jamboree show building. Either Spongebob 3D or a family attraction like a well themed vekoma crazy house would fit the bill quite nicely IMHO. Not only would its hourly capacity of 864 be of great use, it would also appeal to families, and without breaking the bank. I'd also vote to see Blue Lagoon completely replaced, and perhaps extended over the train tracks (put the train through a tunnel if you have too). As far as new thrills go, I reckon something along the along the lines of Kumba at BGT. IE a B&M sitdown (floorless?) with fairly minimalist themeing, but with nice surroundings and a few tunnels. -
Slick, so far they've finished the B&M Invert, The Vekoma Tilt Coaster (with motorbike trains, should be interesting), the Raven Clone and the Intamin Hyper. Feel free to go visit too update if you feel like wasting an afternoon.

You mean eject its first customer? Looks like a fun ride (better then Dragster judging by nothing else but the stats and concept art), though I suspect it'll be quite a while before I try it out

It was weird, back in the old days of the forums, it would only let me log in once in every 10 or so attempts, and after that I would no longer be logged in after I looked at a page or two. Normally posting wouldn't work, but for some reason it did this once. Weird stuff.

Not too put too fine a point on it, but the reason people don't go to Dreamworld for shows is because Dreamworld doesn't really have any. The Imax theatre is currently the parks major show, and is showing all of 3 films a day (probably more now the holidays are on). The wildlife presentations are all fine, though don't really draw that many people into the park. I still think something along the lines of Spongebob 3D in the old Country Jamboree building would be really good for the park. The only other thing I can think of (besides a stunt show) is a purpose built Tiger Show stadium next door to Tiger Island (Think Crocoseam at Aussie Zoo but a bit smaller) where people can go to sit down and watch the tigers do their thing. I think a Tiger show could well turn into a "Must do" the same way the Dolphin Show is at Seaworld.

Yeah man, too many guys on this site to let people know about it.

Yeah, my ass is soo fired when they find out who I am (like its that hard)

Obstructure, this from the Wet 'n' Wild Website: "You are allowed to bring a picnic lunch into Wet'n'Wild Water World however, no commercially prepared food or alcohol can be brought into the park. Due to safety regulations, glassware of any kind is also prohibited. Coin operated Barbecue facilities are available as well as plenty of shady retreats to enjoy your lunch." Personally I can't be bothered leaving a park in the middle of the day, be it Dreamworld, Seaworld, Movieworld or Wet 'n' Wild. I mean, its a huge waste of time, and its not as if you save that much money anyway.

Bermuda has aged quite a bit in the past few years. Its still an enjoyable ride, but anyone whose been on it previously will notice the difference, and first timers wouldn't be nearly as impressed with the ride. When were you last up this way Goboi?
-
Just on the profit thing, how much money did Dreamworld make, and how much did the other parks separately make?
-
...... I'm not saying anything Thanks for the report, feel free to keep us informed about how you felt of the other parks. Say hi to Alex for me too

Wow, what a load of crap  First off, if Thornbury's is a ride, then so is Matrix. Dreamworld still doesn't have enough. Also, direct the irrelevant, illogical little rant of yours here. Don't think you can just change the subject. I'm also going to skip your rambling's about Village Roadshow, since that's got nothing to do at all with the topic. Feel free to create one though. Now, heres the thing: I don't know about you, but queuing for an hour isn't fun, hence the comment about not having fun. I'm not for one second the rides are not fun, I'm saying if your doing nothing but queuing, then your overall impression will be negative despite the good rides. The next thing I said was in response to Kenny's comment: Obviously, I don't think Wipeout is "Just a topspin" etc, but was pointing out the flaw in the logic. Giant Drop is an excellent example of the ride style, and I wouldn't call it "Just another", I'd call it the best. You won't get me arguing that. The point I was making is if you call Batman "Just a simulator" then anyone else can say the same thing for Dreamworld's rides. I don't agree with those points, and I'm sorry if you don't understand. Next we come to my only cheap shot, which was a cheap shot at Intamin, not Dreamworld. Intamin make fun rides, but some of their rides aren't as reliable as they should be. It was a sarcastic cheap shot. So what? Pretty much all I've said in this thread is that its not just me noticing these things and I'm not making bad stuff up to take a cheap shot. The only thing you guys have productively mentioned is that more staff are needed over the holidays. You half heartily put the idea of limiting the number of guests that can come into the park. Both you and I know that's a silly idea, and I'm not all that sure why you put that idea forward in the first place. Like I say, I've got nothing against the park (if I go, I go off-peak so everything's bearable), just there are some issues with how the park deals with a crowd.

I think most of Gazza's terrian inverts have that certain "Nemisis" feel to them. You know, twisting first drop, first inversion kinda high off the ground, zero G roll, Vertical loop starting at the lowest point in the ride, another inversion. The whole time twisting and turning different ways and diving into trenchs. Though since Nemisis is easily the best coaster I've been on thats hardly a bad thing.

Depends what the jet fighter was doing. Obviously wasn't doing anything particularly exciting. Alex: Robocoaster's official website Edit: Just noticed on the website the ride has a "Microsoft Windows operating system". No wonder not many parks want to take the chance with it.

I must admit, I'm kinda surprised I found it, but not a worry too pass the info on. Good to see New Zealand Experience setting that huge divedend too. Bet the shareholders couldn't be happier.
