Um yeah.......DC Rivals IS a Mack coaster ........... In saying that, you have to look at where the $32 million is going to go. Yes its a lot of money to spend on one coaster but I am guessing that the theming and associated works is all included in this price. This is a coaster that definitely does NOT want to be a bare bone construction- if you look at the original Blue Fire mega coaster at Europa Park the theming on this coaster is world class. If we get half of this level of theming for Steel Taipan, then it WILL become the most heavily themed coaster in the country. The corollary of this of course is that $30 million will ALSO buy you this: 1-Intamin Hot Racer 2-Gerstlauer Family Shuttle 3-L&T Mini Coaster 4-Samba Balloon 5-Zamperla Discovery Revolution. 6-Midi Ferris Wheel 7-Crazy Submarine 8-Bounce Around 9-Jumpin Tower 16 The concept of value becomes a little subjective when you start this sort of comparison. Yeah sure 6 of these 9 rides are kiddie rides but lets not forget that included in this list are a Gerstlauer Family shuttle coaster, a Zamperla Discovery Revolution and of course the signature Intamin Hot Racer single rail dual launched coaster. Luna Park are getting all of these attractions for the same price as Dreamworld's one. Now its hardly apples for apples in terms of attractions but it is when you start looking at relative spend and you have to wonder what the reaction would have been if Dreamworld had announced they were adding the attraction list that LPS is adding for the same amount. Looking at it, it appears that LPS has spent their $30 million well and got very good bang for their buck. In saying that, I think that Steel Taipan will be a GREAT addition to Dreamworld and that it will be a great shot in the arm for them in leading the park back to positive public consciousness. It simply is the coaster they need at this very point in time.

Seriously? Look lets get this idea out of yours and everyone else who thinks it would be a good idea heads. Coney Island is one of the last remaining 1930's Funhouses left intact in the WORLD. That alone should give you pause. It is the only remaining attraction from the opening in 1935. It is largely unchanged inside ( except for some minor cosmetic changes) with the exception of moving the Mirror Maze under the slides. Even then this had to be accomplished by appealing to the Heritage council for approval. Its protected by state government legislation and is placed on the State Heritage listing along with the Towers, Face and Crystal Palace as structures of immense historical value. It does not need extending. Any operator who runs the park is bound by legislation to ensure that the upkeep of Coney Island is kept in strict working order and condition pursuant to the legislative requirements. ( As is Wild Mouse). It does not need extending. It needs maintaining and protecting. Its a miracle that it is in the excellent condition it is in. It is a living museum and a testatment to those times past and quite frankly is the soul of the park and a good reason that the park has the unique charm it has. It is internationally known and recognised as being an item of significant amusement park history. It just needs to be maintained exactly as it is with the sole goal of preserving it in its current, historical state. You just do not tinker with that.

I think there is more than a nod here - I think its very clever how they have done that. It gives a certain continuity that is comforting other than just having the name. Expanding onto the deck over the water could be an option , however the issue is that this is outside of the park envelope and is not in control of the park. There would be some considerable resistance to this I think- the park would have to guarantee that the path would remain or free access would continue. Thats the only way it would get through- but yes I believe that it could be done. As for using the Big Top for an all weather ride hall- that idea was floated and tried by the park years ago. They certainly would not make it a permanent fixture (after all the Big Top is an important revenue stream for the park) but they could certainly use it for holiday periods for temporary rides or attractions or exhibitions. In fact that has been utilised this way previously for holiday Lego exhibitions. I would love to see a temporary walk through attraction set up for Halloween that stays for the end of the january school holidays become an annual event but of course it all depends on what shows the Big Top has booked or attracted. Once the new rides have been established, the park needs a good dark ride attraction. This could be done in a number of ways- in my mind moving the dodgems back to under the Wild Mouse would be number one and utilsing the space under Big Dipper to develop a new dark ride attraction. The Deck Bar and restaurant at the front of the park takes up some very valuable real estate and whilst also a considerable revenue stream in its own right, if reutilised could be a good spot for a dark ride attraction. There has also been talk about utilsing the space on top of the carpark in previous years- which is currently grassed- and whether this space could be utilised. It could definitely be incorporated in some way in the future- they would just have to ensure that access to the midway below is somehow maintained. Remember also that the space where the Volare now resides and the old admin building behind was at one point going to be a cinema with a DA approval for this and then this was transformed into a flying theatre attraction that went to council but overall plans were cancelled. In future years the park could definitely go left of field just like they have done with this annoucement!! Exciting times to be sure!

I knew of all us mate you would be the one that would not be overly happy.😎 But come on- you have to admit this is exciting times for LPS!! This announcement is great for the park and the industry as a whole and more importantly, its great for the tourism potential for NSW. I know we are all going to miss the Huss rides- very true they were exciting and well engineered rides that have now been added to the fabric and history that is Luna Park Sydney.

Why would LPM be stage 2 for this project? The Luna Parks are owned by different oweners and are completely unrelated. There will be 9 new rides. The math is quite simple. There are 6 new kids rides ( including the kiddie coaster) , there is the family Boomerang coaster, the Zamperla Discovery pendulum ride and the Big Dipper. Thats 9 rides. As I stated to you before, please go and read ALL the comments that have been posted. There has been a complete rundown on what rides are likely to go from Gazza. Numerous other posts answer the majority of the questions you have been asking or seeking.Slow down and read and absorb what has been posted before....

Have a read at the comments before you posted and the FAQ that was on the parks official website that I have posted in this very thread. That should answer any concerns or questions anyone has regarding this. https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/big-dipper-to-return-as-sydney-s-luna-park-gets-30-million-overhaul-20201124-p56he1.html?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR12TJrjq-aEG0nf0bpz08cBzfN0sWewDDmkn-HYpeFXNHCpLx9WMcv9xnk#Echobox=1606186092 Here is the link to the SMH article regarding the announcement and the knoweledge that the new Big Dipper will not open until November or December.

So including the 9 new rides, LPS will once its all been built, have 19 rides and attractions to offer , including 4 coasters of varying levels for the entire family. The Intamin single rail will be a world first coaster type and the worlds first single rail double launched coaster. Its a custom layout which is brilliant. This will certainly make LPS a very attractive place to visit and with it being just across the harbour under the bridge is the gateway to Sydney and every foreign visitor that travels to Australia( when they eventually return) Also, apart from Luna Park Melbourne, this will be the only permanent place in Australia where you can ride at night. This will be awesome- cannot wait to take on this ride in both day and night rides. This is so much better than what were were hoping could be installed at the park-this is brilliant. Here is the official FAQ- it seems to have been pretty well thought out and appears to cover anything that may arise. What is important to note is that this is all being installed with the government's blessing and is protected by the legisaltion that covers the park.

Hey all this has had me thinking for a while. A couple of years back I visited Orlando and went to Universal Studios and rode Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket. I was impressed with the ride but I loved the feature that allowed you to pick your own song and style of music as you rode!! I know that there are several coasters around the world that now has this feature, my question for you all is which song do you believe to be the greatest song to play whilst riding roller coasters? Just for a bit of fun- I will start you all off with what would be my go to coaster riding song and one that is not only entirely appropriate but also gets you pumped and excited to ride! This is "Last Ride Of the Day" by Finish Symphonic Metal band Nightwish. A most stirring tune! Of course everyone will be different and will have choices for different reasons!! Looking forward to seeing the responses!

Here is an update for the newly named Surf 'N "Play Aqua Park in Dingley Village. It has now been announced plans for a second only in the world surf pool installation- with what is being dubbed "Endless Surf" technology. https://www.pellicano.com.au/news/surf-pool-joins-plans-for-dingley-village-water-park-to-become-biggest-in-southern-hemisphere/ Video of the new park and concept art can be seen here: Main points left to bring this project to construction phase: The tweak to the plans comes as the wealthy Pellicano family behind the $100m project reveals their super-sized SurfnPlay Aqua Park is moving closer to reality, with just Kingston City Council to sign off on it after recent green lights from VicRoads and Melbourne Water. After addressing a range of request from government and environmental agencies, the only hurdles remaining are council approval and public consultation. This appears to be progressing ahead well and fingers crossed this gets to become a reality. Will be a huge coup for Melbourne if it gets over the line.

What happened to the Darwin waterpark proposal?
Jobe replied to Ranger's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just found this - "Pico Play was commissioned by the Northern Territory Government to put together a comprehensive business case for a new international water park in the heart of the Darwin CBD. Read more at the link below about our feasibiity process!" https://www.pico-play.com/portfolio-item/darwin-water-park/ This was only published 3 days ago- it appears that this project is not dead in the water just yet. Darwin would be a prome candidate for a good sized water park and the CBD location would be ideal. Hopefully this progresses further to get the green light. -

100% my thoughts as well. The ride simply makes no sense at Wet ‘ N ‘ Wild anymore. The pros for moving it to SeaWorld, are getting stronger and are making a far more compelling case.
-
I am aware of this fact. I also agree it’s doubtful but it does make a lot of sense. This ride has been nothing but problematic at its current location, it would be a far better fit at SeaWorld. It would be well received there and it would be going to a park that is still in need of attractions to balance it out. It also has a small footprint which would be ideal given that land is something that SeaWorld does not have in abundance. It could also be well adapted to fit in well with SeaWorld as an overall theme. Having a roller coaster at a water park was an experiment and gamble that for mine, didn’t really pay off. Moving it to SeaWorld would be a positive change, and allow Surf Rider to also be open to greater ridership and stand as a attraction in its own right, rather than a lame duck at a park it has no real right to be placed in. Just my opinion.
-
Seriously think that Surfrider's days at Wet and Wild should be done. It has been a troublesome child in its time there. Time to pick it up and move it to Seaworld where it will help round out the attraction offerings at that park. This will leave room for Wet and Wild to have more flexible use of space for new slide installations, IMHO.

The new Vekoma offerings of either their new invert or the new Flying models may make you change your mind......
-
Yeah see I think that these are a little underwhelming and a one trick pony for mine. Dont get me wrong , they are B&M's and that means quality and it would be a quantum leap over anything we currently have but I think there are far better models in the B & M lineup which i would rather see installed. I rode Shreikra at Busch Gardens Tampa and whilst i enjoyed the ride, for mine, it paled in comparison to Kumba and even Cheetah Hunt. Still, if one was announced, I would take it!! It would make more sense installing one at Dreamworld IMHO.
