  1. A little late but anyhow!! I have been on the forums on or off for most of those 10 years and have been lurking about ever since!! It's been great to have these forums to discuss all things to do with the Australian theme park industry!! I have seen the site evolve and change into what it is today!! Brilliant work Richard!! I still have one of the calendars that you put out one year still floating about!! Maybe you could put out a commemorative edition for 2014??
  2. And just like that- gone!!!! Thankyou mods!!
  3. Thanks T-bone. Wholeheartedly agree!! He is a sad individual with obviously no real life. Please take the step to ban this pathetic individual.
  4. Fine with me mate!! Your the only one who comes out looking like a complete tosser everytime!! Feel free to continue!! And as to your assertion that you do it to piss me off specifically, I am not the only regular on these boards who has had issue with you or who has called you on your preposterous postings!! The trouble with you is you do not like being shown to be wrong and THATS when you get very defensive, just like now. Actually if thats the case then I feel that is sufficent evidence for a moderator to ban you. You have been plaguing these forums and generally posting absolute nonsense for a while now. There are plenty of posters who feel the same way as I do. Can one of the mods please look into this?? Would anyone else support it or show sufficient cause as to why it should be done? Cheers.
  5. You think???? On what basis do you arrive at that notion?? Also you are completely incorrect. The Turbo Mountain coaster was at the TOP of the park and this space is now inhabited by the Huss Freefall tower. As this map of the park shows, it is nowhere near the site of the Freefall tower. Do you just sit at home and invent random shit up and convince yourself its true??? And you wonder why you get such a hard time in almost every post you deliver on this site.....Adventure World map.pdf
  6. Do you want to do that before or after your speculation on the new ride replacing Tijuana Taxis had been shot down?? Just asking.....
  7. Anyhow back on topic. Since it has now been confirmed to be a coaster, lets look at what options that Adventure World could be looking at. $10 million is LOT of money and a big investment for this park. What shape or form could this coaster likely take? Will it be wood or steel?? Inverted? Launched? This new coaster will definitely put Adventure World back on the destination map and will give theme park enthusiasts in Australia the desire to visit WA!! This is great news!! Let the healthy speculation begin!!
  8. But that really does not fit with Richards comments above. This new ride is a significant enough project to be forecast in the ASX report. He already shot down that the postulation that this could replace Tijuana Taxis. I fail to see how a replacement for the Yosimite Sam Railroad would be any different.
  9. Not for $10 million its not!!! See what I did there?? I ignored your sarcasm.....
  10. Absolutely true. And given that,my and others initial disappointment at this announcement may be replaced by approval. The scope of the new ride or exactly what it is has not yet been revealed if I am not mistaken? We may be extremely surprised.
  11. Your missing the point. You have to ask yourself why he offered up the sarcasm in the first place.....
  12. I have to agree here. It's great that there is a new ride aimed at the kiddie demographic and god knows the Movieworld area could do with some rejuvenation. However I cannot help thinking that it could be a wasted opportunity if it does indeed occupy the LTRR building space. Hopefully it is indeed a retool of Tijuana taxis. That's ok. Going on past history, that's what most people do with any unconfirmed info that you happen to offer up or post as being true anyhow.
  13. lol..methinks your most excellent sarcasm is lost on RWC.........he is to stubborn to see or acknowledge it!!!
  14. That's very exciting DJ... Can you release any details? Type and make?? Is it something we haven't seen in Australia?? Is it going to make Adventure World a destination again?
  15. It definitely was not the toboggan run at Nelson Bay. I too have heard that story but cannot say exactly where it really occured. I do remember a friend telling me it was at Jamboroo. Mayhap it is a urban myth like razor blades in water slides?
  16. Dangerous?? I reckon!! I wonder if this was just operator error or system error?? If it was operator error then someone needs to be raked over the coals.... they were lucky no one was seriously hurt!! Looks like it was a near thing!!
  17. Yeah well whats a few more......
  18. A small update about Orphan Rocker has been recieved on ScenicWorld's Facebook page. Scenic World Blue Mountains Hey Benjamin and John, we've got our hands full with the redevelopment of the Scenic Railway but the Orphan Rocker is definitely something that we will look at redeveloping in the future! Yesterday at 10:55am · Unlike · 1 [*] Benjamin William Roach Cheers for the update. So where does it stand currently? Are the trains in good nick? Track still up to par and whole? Yesterday at 10:56am · Like [*] Scenic World Blue Mountains Hey Benjamin, yes its all still in relatively good nick although but not to standard for operating publicly- no work has been done on it since the 80s.
  19. Are we forgetting Valhalla at Blackpool?? An all indoor flume ride?? Rode this back in 2004 and it was a fantastic , totally immersive experience!! Movieworld could do worse than have something similar to this fine example of an indoor dark ride!
  20. That article looks a little old!! Especially the $2 a head!! Lol!! When and where was this article published??
  21. No no apology as there was no mention of Mack at all!! And I am not kidding!!! lol!
  22. Hi all, Not sure if this is widely known but there is currently available a new book which focuses on Australian and New Zealand roller coasters. It is available from Sydney's Abbey book shop and you can purchase online. I have included a link for those who are interested.http://www.abbeys.co...scintillatin.do This book is fascinating. It is the first I have seen that has focused on Australian and New Zealand coasters as a major topic ( although it does feature several from overseas) and it features some very rare early photos of coasters long forgotten. There are great pics from The Switchback Railway at Tamarama Beach, The Scenic Railway at Sydney's White City and also Robson's figure 8 which stood on the site of present day LPM. The articles and photos accompanying features on both Luna Parks are also rare and fantastic!! An interesting claim from the book was that the Wildcat, which was present at LPS from 1970 and was Australia's first all steel coaster, was purchased by the owners of the Lansvale group who owned Lansvale Hollywood Pleasure Gardens.Apparently , the ride still exists to this day in storage and their is some hope of it being re-erected in the future. It would be great if this piece of Luna Park history could re-emerge at LPS at some stage. There are also some fascinating articles on some early New Zealand coasters, of which I never knew existed. The book is well written and the author is obviously a coaster afficiondo- so much that he belongs to the Australian Coaster Club ( I did not know that this existed). All in all a great read, the content is well researched and I found very little innacuracies. Well worth the effort of seeking it out. I also acquired at the same time, the official Luna Park Melbourne Centenary book. This is only available from the park itself but is available on mail order if you phone the park. This is also well worth the effort as it contains many great historical photos and a huge amount of information about the early days of the park. What I found most interesting and one which will put to bed a lot of scuttlebutt , is the information regarding the Scenic Railway's historic trains. This comes from Brian Atkins, who is the park's official chief restoration consultant on the Scenic Railway. In the book, he explains that the Scenic Railway originally had 5 trains. They have managed to fully restore 3 trains and there are definitely enough parts to restore a 4th. Each train costs over $100,000 each to fully restore. Most importantly, Brian's workshop has managed to acquire a set of cylinders that are known as the "Barrels of Fun" In Australia, there were 3 sets of these Barrels that were made. One each for LPS in Coney Island, LPM for the Giggle Palace and one operated for a travelling showman named Kahle. Coney Island's set, as we all know, are still in existance, but the Giggle Palace's barrels were lost in the fire that engulfed the funhouse in 1981. However, LPM has acquired the original barrels from the Kahle family and hope to return them to the park in some form in the future. The book also indicates that the park has strong plans to re-introduce the Rotor back to the ride line-up, and very strong , fervent wishes to re-imagine the Giggle Palace and the River Caves in some state. There was no mention of acquiring any new coasters and the book does mention that the park is under strict height restrictions in regards to rides from the council. If you are fascinated by the history of LPM like me, then this book will be a welcome addition to your library!! Enjoy!!!
