  1. Possibly a case of "open attraction, or keep it closed until its 100% and lose business". I'd pick "open attraction" Movie World went with open attraction remember.
  2. And that's the thing. They got that so right at Outback Spectacular no doubt testing it between the previous shows and fine tuning it during the brief shut down. But with 5 months straight of closure they screwed it up so badly. That's assuming the one company did both facilities.
  3. That has no relation to the "it'll only been seen at night" statement. If they actually went ahead with a moving display on the building facade (they won't, $$$ for a start), it would end up being more "next gen" than scooby doo"😂
  4. The Joker Head and Green Lantern logo are lit during the day and visible. So it can be done.
  5. Whilst the petty bullying was continuing as it does, this missed line pretty much sums up the park right now.
  6. There was an ad this morning during Sunrise, specifically showing the ride and nothing else about the park (and flogging the one pass at the end). They'd better get it sorted soon.
  7. But what if it didn't stop at all? Intially rail safety worked on the "crap, we killed 100 people, maybe we should change that" approach. These days it works on the "what's a one in a million chance of happening" approach. Just look at the big ore train derailment in the Pilbara recently. That was caused by setting very few people knew of, that had never been an issue before.
  8. Is it similar to the noises Arkham makes returning to the station? Which I suspect is the wheels squeaking on the track.
  9. It'll be in how the detection is setup. By closing on approach, it allows the train to run through without stopping at the station express style, the driver to miss the mark or slide through with locked brakes. How does the Main St crossing work? It should be the same? Ideally the crossing should be before the station, so the gates can open up once the train has cleared the crossing. But I don't think there is enough space for that?
  10. I'd missed it earlier where the 21st century style shade structure overlaps with the 19th century American mid west style building 🙄 It was bad enough that they are next to each other, let alone overlapping 🤪
  11. Yep. It was only because they knew the media would be there covering the sick kids. Stop feeding the hippie trolls I say!
  12. A guy at Bald Hills has addressable lights on his house for Christmas. "Brads Brisbane Christmas Lights" on Facebook. I believe those are the constant power lights?
  13. @AlexB pretty sure it's a dirty hippy reference. Even then, they got some impressive filtration systems there. The water is probably cleaner than the ocean the protesters want the animals returned to. Wouldn't struggle to handle a few hippies.
  14. I think we all expected new sets, not just the old ones cleaned up (or replicated). And more than a few flat screens showing animations after 5 months of closure. Of course the mechanics of the ride remain the same. Say you employ someone to renovate your house to "next generation" and after five months all you get is a few TV'S, a new room and some paint, you'd be disappointed.
  15. Considering we saw the instagram post of the projection mapping scanning equipment up near the turntable, it's a surprise to hear there is no changes up there?
  16. On 7 news they stated it's in place for 18 months.
  17. It is, so is the 15th the last day of maintenance or the first day of operation? Given it closed on the 23rd, I would read that as still being closed on the 15th (possible soft open?)
  18. So the maintenance period is till 15th December (Saturday), reopens this Sunday then? Is the week before Christmas still quiet? I've got Friday the 21st off, would like to check it out.
  19. @Slick, the 1% I was referring to are the train nuts, whom you can never appease! 😒😁
  20. Yeah, but it's the 1% you've got to appease. You think theme park fans are a bit nuts. Go over to the railpage forums and refer to it as a real train and see what response you get. Train fans (gunzels) are a whole different breed (possibly even species!). 🤣
  21. Sadly not the case I feel. Carriages don't require a lot of maintenance, especially by dreamworld standards. It's well known that locomotive isn't up to the task it was purchased for. Designed for flatter circuits and no tight corners.
  22. It's a mock up of a real steam train, a poor one in my opinion (hence why I call it the "abomination"). This is a real one, which also happens to be the former Dreamworld Perry in its pre theme park working life. Taken in 1961 near Bingerra Sugar Mill (near Bundaberg)
  23. That's the diesel @pushbutton. No tender (coal and water trailer) for a start.
