  1. I like it. I assume the "Joker" in the photos is a staff actor?
  2. I've seen that done too by electricians. Often on surfaces that will be later covered though.
  3. I wasn't aware this forum had that function either, normally use the mobile version which doesn't have that text. Turns out on mobile it's a newspaper image to the left of the magnifying glass.
  4. It's rather dull to be honest, at least when you have ridden it with the theming.
  5. Wasn't Scooby picked up in the post incident audit? And given the time to design the new Scooby experience, Movie World was clearly going to stick with the status quo.
  6. Internal certification until just before (from what was said yesterday I think?). If it passed the year before, and nothing had changed, you wouldn't want to be the person that said "hey boss, need a couple mil to upgrade that ride that's run and been passed OK for years"
  7. Fireman's side of the boiler, towards the top, is/was a cast elbow fitting. My understanding is that cast parts aren't allowed on boilers. I could be wrong but I trust the person that taught me that. Pony truck was used beyond the allowable limit on a railway. Point blade, that observation was from November 8th 2015, the day my son rode his first "big" ride, Thunder River Rapids. 😔
  8. The Perry had a well undersized flange (vertical wheel edge for the non train people) on its trailing truck (wheel under the cab) which was removed and has been replaced. It also had at least one cast fitting on top of the boiler within the cabin. I watched the point blade from the Dreamworld sheds to the main line wobble along its axis loosely as the train ran over it, almost like it wasn't connected. Think like a screw turning back and forth. The railway there is classed as an amusement ride, it doesn't fall under railway legislation. It appears to be maintained the same way their other rides have been. I'm sure that the crew did their best with the funds and time they had.
  9. Probably a good thing their Steam loco's where replaced with the abomination then Wouldn't want a 150psi 150+ degree pressure vessel with (prohibited) cast iron fittings failing in a place like that.
  10. Could be anything from painting to checkinh for cracks, tightening bolts or confusing theme park fans.
  11. I've edited this, as the bit missing is that the former operator shut down the pumps whilst people where still on the ride. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-06-22/dreamworld-coronial-inquest-incident-two-years-earlier/9897602 That article also states no warning light/buzzer was in place to indicate that a pump has stopped working. But still, my original comments below I still feel still stands. If it was serious enough to fire someone over, it was serious enough to: a) train/tool box talk with staff about b) investigate ways to avoid it reoccurring c) implement a solution. I think it just got really bad for Dreamworld, until now I still felt it was a 'freak accident' that only hindsight could have solved and was otherwise unforeseen.
  12. If they fail to receipt the direct debit payment promptly or properly, then the pass could switch to expired in the system. The system we use at work takes 4 business for the payment to clear to us. We receipt every business day. If they did it once a week, it could be as high as 12 days between being taken (say Saturday) and receipting (say if they did it every Wednesday).
  13. That's why I added the told us bit. Dreamworld possibly do too, but avoid drawing attention to emergency services being at their park due to the way the media might misreport it.
  14. My wife was taught at a first aid course "as far as the patient is concerned, having broken ribs is still better than being dead".
  15. That's already taken, that's the world he lives in currently 😝
  16. It's what happens with your mobile phone plan though. You can be the dedicated customer and get the same deal, or shop around every contract and get more for less. Business rarely rewards dedication anymore, it's all about getting more customers.
  17. I think we are still at the beginning. The police took control first, well before experts would have attended. Seems logical to start with them. Has there been any mention of an alarm associated with a pump shut down? Or was it purely the drop in water level that was the only notification?
  18. Two different applications/uses of a sensor output. An axle counter can operate a level crossing, but can also serve as part of a block (at the same time even)
  19. They used to do just a pure photo op, in summer. Time window went for about 30 minutes. The suits are like Tweety at Movie World, there is a fan in the top. Even drag racing now has Paw Patrol at their events, seems like the IP owners are milking it for what's left in it.
  20. Bugger! Held out as long as we could waiting for a deal, missed it by 5 days!
  21. As a Qlder I will agree, our driving standards are pretty poor.
  22. Heard an ad on the radio over the weekend promoting the opening day, and explaining how it works. Was quite good.
