  1. Heard an ad on the radio this morning for dreamworld.
  2. DV is obviously not deterring them, it's just feeding their attention seeking.
  3. Most likely to go to Helensvale & Harbour Town to the north, Airport & Robina to the south. The limitation is the shared core network, can only push so many trams through the core. Airport <-> Helensvale will consume the most trams, with the remainder on the other route. A separate spur makes timetabling, rostering and ease of use much more difficult, as well as consuming trams needed for the much higher demand destinations. How many would catch a bus to Seaworld vs Robina, Helensvale, Airport & Harbour Town?
  4. On the Gold Coast, they are seen as moving targets and as such are worth bonus points when you hit them
  5. Plus (adjusting for daylight savings), sunset in Sydney is 23 minutes later than Brisbane today, for instance. This being of course because Sydney sits further west.
  6. My traffic light comment is more about all the traffic lights on the system, even with the priority setup in place, these do impact headway. And as Gazza pointed out, the Harbour Town branch will consume a lot of the services. The crossovers and stub line for the branch are being built as part of stage 2.
  7. @Jamberoo Fan not quite that simple, as the light rail interacts with traffic lights etc, that has to be factored into the headway. Plus ease of use for passengers to not get the wrong service. I'm struggling to see why a dedicated bus or three can't handle this job as a shuttle? Rail is intended to do the "heavy lifting" with buses etc feeding to and from interchanges. The time lost to transferring to a bus should be less than waiting for the one every 25 minute light rail service. And yes, that's a train nut telling you to catch a bus
  8. All that is needed is a sign explaining "undergoing reno but open to ride", as was mentioned previously. The general public would be more upset if it was closed at this time of year than running in its current state,if that sign was in place.
  9. Having just been given 12 month passes, I'm disappointed my son who is finally ready for the ride will miss out on the old theme, but like me at least he'll get to enjoy the mechanical side of the rides.
  10. As a motor bike rider myself, it looses too much pace. Jet rescue in having the second launch solves the problem. MDMC with some power input later into the ride would be much better.
  11. Yep, the bigger rides will be perceived to be more dangerous, so the general public will expect them to take longer to check. If you open the "dangerous" rides first, it makes the image management more difficult.
  12. Entry near green lantern, agreed. Entry near Arkham (not likely), maybe.
  13. Can someone who knows DC better than me can explain that hint?
  14. That little bit of bait was meant for @AlexB, but thanks for taking it
  15. We all saw it, your the only one that bit
  16. It will be mothballed until rocky hollow reopens, otherwise it runs through a lot of nothing from the animals back to main street.
  17. Of course. But I believe the whole reopening has been planned out carefully. The big rides draw the crowds, but could be seen as poor taste in being available first day. Have the family rides open looks better, even if some where more complex to inspect than say TOT2.
  18. Thinking like the media or general public, it's a separate park and different rides. Plus the distance helps with the apparent separation. Don't forget the image management people will be calling the shots, it's all about a positive reopening for the park. I'd suspect even the staff evening falls into that. 7 news hardly focussed on the incident tonight, it was more about the good things the park is doing.
  19. Image. A similar water ride on reopening day probably not seen to be in good taste.
  20. Lots of loud noisy rides and screaming people probably doesn't fit with the concept of the weekend.
  21. Each step would be possible to do, having all steps happen in series would be where the difficulty lies and is how I interpreted the article @Brad2912 has linked to.
  22. We enjoy them, but a few tips, be early to secure a park close by, if weather is dicey or you want to sit, get a table early and have one person always sit at it. We spent about three hours there (and $200) between four of us a few weeks ago.
