  1. Agree that it should work in both directions, but it's a matter of have they actually designed it that way? All the PLC on the track, brake and tyre drive contact points etc all need to be considered in the design. Also approach angles for any parts that might interact (or aren't meant to). There's a fair bit of engineering required. And complexity adds additional points of failure. They don't want a dud ride that's always failing.
  2. The actual chassis (disregard the body) would travel the same route, based on the animation by WallyWorld. As I said, logically you'd design it to run both directions, but Dreamworld have painted each train differently and stated they will have a forward and a backward train. The stills posted above aren't clearing this up either, as the brown train has a bumper, but the green train appears to be on a jig still.
  3. Refurbishment of the queueing area doesn't mean a full retheme. If you're just removing lockers, that can be done behind temporary walls/fencing. Shuffling the queue rails around wouldn't take much, they're only bolted to the floor. Could all be made off site and installed after hours. Add a single rider and fast pass queues through the (I assume, not been for years) unused shop space. All meets at the top of the ramp. Probably do that during the next shut down. The return on investment is low (run by investment group remember), so it's not going to be like the change over from Lethal Weapon to Arkham Asylum was.
  4. The implication I took from Dreamworld specifying that there is a forward and a backwards train, is that the actual chassis underneath is designed to only travel one direction, and it's just how the body on top is mounted that orientates the direction of travel. Looping the red section continuously would have the chassis end up facing the wrong way. Logically you would engineer the chassis to travel both directions (if that's possible?), as single train operations are common here in Australia. Otherwise Dreamworld will always have to run the forward facing train year round, and those wanting to ride backwards might miss out, outside of peak times. Or run both trains constantly, with the backwards one potentially running with limited loadings.
  5. You're more trusting of your fellow humans than most. Theft would be a major problem if everything went into one basket. We've started taking a small bag. Everything goes in that. Much quicker than dealing with all the odds and ends, great for hot lapping rides.
  6. When I've seen the basket out for Superman, it was for people with vision poor enough that they needed their glasses to negotiate their way to their seat.
  7. "why are they doing these silly posts, so unprofessional" Meanwhile what's been the main point of discussion around here for the last few days 🤷🏻‍♂️
  8. There was a post about their social media manager going on leave, and two staff waving goodbye with a "wtf do we do now" look on their face. I think they're aiming for cringy as a style for the next few weeks or something?
  9. So, it's complained about frequently (and rightly so). So what are people's 'slap of paint and a new sign' level treatments for the Sky Voyager facade, to better suit the Main St theme? No big budget. I've tried to come up with an idea, but got nothing. Aside from the stark white needs to go.
  10. Mechanical faults, or is it because of the high winds?
  11. Rode Leviathan for the second time ever today. How the f do you build that level of themeing at Seaworld, then go and think this is fine for a movie based park?
  12. At least they're starting to present a product worth those prices. I feel we got cheap until now, because they knew they couldn't charge full price. I'd be happy to fork out $149 once Jungle Rush & Rivertown have opened.
  13. From memory, I called it that as soon as a private equity fund got a hold of the place, it'd go downhill while they chased profits. Greg needs to stay at Dreamworld, his leadership is what the park needed. The public are starting to return.
  14. May have started during the lock check process, we were second last row, I was definitely seated and harness across. I was watching the queue length and it was holding steady at about the same length. Throughput was definitely low, but it also was a Monday.
  15. When I rode it today, pre-show started once harnesses were locked. Queues were slow, but only two loops of people around the central funnel thingy so not busy either. First time ever riding it. The story/theme suits that ride perfectly, it's really well told. The 'cave paintings' in the circular queue set up what's coming. And f*ck that coaster is full on. Definitely how I'd imagine trying to ride a sea monster might be. I regret not buying a pass when it first opened now. I hope both major parks exceed that level of story telling with their new rides this year.
  16. Flash was never going to sell passes leading into Christmas, it's filler at best. Wizard of Oz and Jungle Rush both will drive sales. Comments on the Movie World post already have people wanting merchandise. Both also have the same company on theming construction, we'll get to see a very good comparison between the two parks designers and budgets. With both precincts due around the same time, I think both sites will throw money at it if necessary, to be completed on time. They won't want down the road getting a leg up.
  17. Good to see both parks building anticipation of their upcoming new lands. Looking to be a competitive summer season this year.
  18. Good to see this openly being discussed, rather than the "there is no coaster (spoon)" like MW did for DC Rivals when Greg was there.
  19. Step 3 is "profit", if I remember my cards against humanity correctly. I'm sure Dapto will explain in essay length detail what step two is.
  20. No option for photo on the Android version. It just added the ticket, tapping the ticket then just loads the bar code full screen and brightness. I'll allow extra time to do it at the gate.
  21. I eventually managed to secure one after about two hours. Server crashed, and when it reconnected I got through. Got the Locals Lite, is there anyway to add your photo etc in the app, or will I have to do it when I get to the park?
  22. Back right corner of the non-spinning train is the best seat, in my opinion, on Steel Taipan. Greatest forces on the spike, first corner, coming off the MCBR, heartline rolls.
  23. With throughput so poor, people need to do something. Why not have them browse high profit margin surplus stocks. That idea probably earnt someone at VRTP a raise.
