  1. Is it covid issues, or a back log from the covid slow down combined with the higher demand for new cars during the slow down? My understanding was many manufacturers slowed down or stopped production of items like computer chips, which caused the delay. Then everyone wanted a new car because they had surplus holiday cash they couldn't use.
  2. It just feels like transplanting a new engine into your car and not replacing the clutch whilst in there. I guess the park has so many coasters, keeping the ride essentially how it was won't matter.
  3. So it's just a straight spike for the reverse section. Alot of effort for a missed opportunity to fit a twist in it once it's lost some speed.
  4. The door is after unload, where the train can be stopped. So it's failure wouldn't affect launch (if unload is clear of a train of course). It's failure would prevent the move from unload to load.
  5. From the various post comments I've read, I'd estimate the majority of people have seen through their marketing BS. The loss of Greg and his microphone to Dreamworld seems to be having an impact down the road (in my opinion).
  6. People Arguing Ridiculous K Z Fill in the blanks
  7. Cost vs benefit. The rest of the track and tunnel was easier to access to remove, and improved the general appearance. The station is large, complicated and somewhat restricted to access. The over run tube is also close to the tigers. Small benefit to remove against a large cost. It's possible the building is slated for a future use too.
  8. I put that suggestion in the "win a gift card" survey emailed to me after my visit the other day, so if they do, make sure you collect royalties for the original idea
  9. Saw the "innocent baby and adorable puppy killing" wall for myself today. It's not that bad, I don't think most people will care, especially when there's an excavator visible inside it, and the access gate to the area is black mesh. Would be good to see some wayfinding, promotions or other signage on it - missed opportunity to market attractions etc. Or as suggested elsewhere here, let some pro graffiti artists do some Dreamworld art work on it. Park was basically empty being a Tuesday. Steel Taipan was running the spinning seat train and was going around almost full but no queue. Gold Coaster was struggling for guests, my ride had 4 passengers and was rough as - seems worse when it's emptier IMHO. Claw about 3/4 full. The Flier is really going to liven up that area with movement. I've never ridden anything like it, but I'd probably give it a go when it opens.
  10. I miss the old Screamworld Friday nights. I definitely make the trip down for one of those.
  11. OK, lazy typing on my part. Is ST open normally on a night market evening? I'm on the opposite side of town, so will likely never attend. I was sure there had been discussions on how poor it was having the big ride closed during the markets.
  12. So it is open for night markets? I got the impression it wasn't, and old mate was trying to be sarcastic with the "they can open..." comment.
  13. Who said they couldn’t? They’ve run rides at night heaps of times Wasn't there the usual carry on on here a while ago about running Steel Taipan for an upcharge during the night markets?
  14. Return on investment though. Brightish signage which draws attention, brings more people through the door. The Joker face and Green Lantern logo weren't cheap, but you can see them from a distance. They are all just advertising basically. Vs taking a ride that already has a fairly small potential market, and then catering it to any even smaller market by fitting the tilting seats. It won't bring in enough extra people. Unlike a 150m tall advertising board potentially can. Enthusiasts might enjoy these things, but enthusiasts don't pay the bills. The general public is who keeps the lights on and rides running, so you target them.
  15. Could it be because of the investment firm that owns the park has jacked up the rent, combined with the new rides costing more than anticipated?
  16. I went up there in 2013, I think the park was all but closed. Memories are of a bloody long walk from the car park to the indoor mall bit, how much cooler it was (June), and on the way back down, the friends we were with saying "see that hole in the guard rail, that's where the bus driver committed suicide with passengers on board" 😬
  17. Great scott! (sorry, reminded me of Doc Brown 😂)
  18. Wasn't the new owner an investment company? If that's true, these are expenditure cuts to increase profits (probably explains the poor appearance of the park too)
  19. I can see the marketing now! "World's First Theme Park with two Purple/Fuscia/Pink coasters"
  20. I'm finding it interesting and a nice change from some of dribble on here. It's good to see a sensible debate on differing opinions on the matter. I've gotten much more discussion than I expected, my thanks to all. It could be. We've discussed the sail design as that's how @New display nameappears to have originally proposed it.
  21. Don't know, that's why I'm asking. The tower wasn't engineered for a sail. There are plenty of smart (ass?) people on here, hoping someone could confirm/deny. More asking out of curiosity, rather than "that's a terrible idea".
  22. Would that have caused any issues with loads on the tower, from say the wind?
  23. Those two statues look great. Was a really good update email. As a current passholder I'm keen to see how it all turns out.
  24. Attract customers. Limit supply to drive demand. Like how Aldi used to only carry limited quantities of items on specials days, till fair trading complaints rolled in.
