  1. Also remember VR is not good for a lot of people. There are a lot of issues that might never be sorted out. At the moment it works as there are few using them, causing only those who really want to try it out. While those who think they might have issues don't bother (saving money). If everyone had to use vr to experience the ride, these people would likely ride (as its free and the alternative is missing a ride). This would end with a bunch of issues being exposed. I for one would only ride and ride that is fully vr once. I study computer engineering and have dealt with the main vr systems and regularly have issues, mostly with getting headaches (within minutes of use). So I would likely ride once to see what the ride is like, but really wouldn't do it twice. Although I like the idea in theory, in practice I don't think it would work.
  2. It's not just about being water proof. They are not made to be strong. The materials that are used cannot support much and easily get worn away. The amount of modification required would remove any benefit from using the movie sets.
  3. Yes there is pretty much a guarantee that they will not use the film sets for the ride. The only way the same set will be in both the movie and the ride would be for the movie to use the rides sets. Movie sets are not made to last. Most are only made too last a week, some only last for a day and other can last for years but need constant work for up keep. Theme park sets are usually more expensive or less detailed as they cannot be built to just be looked at, they need to be able to withstand changing conditions which are not present in movie sets (bare in mind some are made (aka universal studios backlot sets) for it but it is rare these days)
  4. To me this shows the biggest issue regarding Village. They always see fit to blame others for their loses. They did it before in regards you movie piracy and now are doing it with their parks. Instead of admitting their wrongs they would rather try and distance themselves or attack. Instead they really should be focusing on themselves, so they should be fixing up their parksite d giving people a reason to go back. At the moment WnW Sydney has hardly changed since it opened and doesn't have the best staff and Sea world is only a fraction of its past. Sea World should be a park that people would play full price to go to, but as it sits the majority of people would onlyrics go if they went to WnW or MW. They should also be working with DW instead of trying to push them away. As this issue has not just been about DW the media also took aim at MW's ride "malfunctions", because of the media they are just as much a part of it as DW is. They should be working together to restore confidence in theme parks.
  5. I will apologize for that I will admit I got a little cranky, with other people not you and I just took it out on that post. Lucky I could edit this still, as I made a massive mistake that gave it a completely different meaning.
  6. Yes having that is all and good when someone responds the only response after his was his own post. I have seen many forums with this implemented. But no where is it as intrusive as this and judging from what I have seen it really doesn't seem to be doing any good. Easy was to stop people changing what they should it be controversial is the either have a edit history for posts or even simply quoting them when they do something controversial. Like is it so hard to quote someone when your are responding to a post. The person can even completely delete their posts and yet you can easily follow what happened. There are so many ways to tackle this issue. Just making people really think over their posts doesn't really work as most of the time it is not the content which needs to be changed is is basic spelling and grammar. Or even adding links which might not be available. It would allow threads to be more organised and therefore meaning you can easily follow the thread, instead of it being broken over multiple posts. Also to add to what others have said before this reputation system is horrible. It does nothing but act as a popularity contest. It is meant to be a system for quality of posts. Not a system where you vote on the persons view. There is nothing quality wrong with these posts. Yet they get down voted as they are against the general accepted opinion on these forums.
  7. OK I will change it. The forum has a stupid feature that does nothing but lower the quality of posts. That really should not be something behind a pay wall. He added that comment a hour after he posted the first post, that is not enough time to allow for edits. A day or two is fine, less then a hour is just ridiculous.
  8. You do know you can just edit posts rather then adding more posts that only serve as corrections.
  9. They actually have a fair bit to gain from it. Saying you have a new themed land is a major draw card. It also has the benefit of removing the bad image of the area. Plus it needs big changes anyway, so it wouldn't really be that different to adding replacements and keeping the theme.
  10. Based on that I would of said superman if it wasnt for SE, based on the latest films.
  11. Another reason you cannot use today's figures is because people who want the thrill rides won't be showing up until the open. No connection to the incident just the rides aren't open, so they don't show up. I know a fair few people who didn't go on the weekend but will be going back as soon as the rides start opening again.
  12. I wouldn't be surprised if they never had plans to use the old shades. It may of just been that they had to rush something out because of a delay in the construction or materials being supplied.
  13. IMO the only way you will see them build anything related to Jurassic Park or the likes would be if they use the Universal Studios name, similar to what is done for the Disney parks in Japan. So it will be a Universal park but not run by Universal. Otherwise just because they now own legendary entertainment it doesn't mean they can use the films they make. Universal has the final say as it is their property.
  14. There is little to no room for a roller coaster in that area with the sound stage still there. The only roller coaster that would fit there is a kids coaster, or a none complete coaster. The area is just not that big. I would like to see them do, is to use the soundstage and put a simulator in there, and maybe add a small flat ride in the area outside to give a second attraction to the theme.
  15. Although it is not far from Sydney, the area is hardly developed. The one road that goes from the M1 (the only major connection between Sydney and Newcastle ) is only one lane pretty much the entire way to the coast and regularly cannot handle the current traffic and a entire neighbourhood is being built already just down from where this is meant to be built. Bare in mind if you want to visit and you are from out of town you will need to drive, around 20 minutes to the coast to find a hotel. Which would be in a dodgy area. Sure they can build wider roads and add hotels, but they wont finish in the next 10 years. The area is a swamp and they have major issue with road construction. A simple 100m stretch of road took 2 years of round the clock work to complete. The Mayor of Wyong is corrupt. In this project alone it was discovered that his wife has shares in the chinese company that is running this. The company has thrown money at him, as they had been trying to get a park in Australia for years but no council would allow them. Until they found Mayor Eaton, a man who ran a very successful Mitre 10 that was pretty much in the middle of the bush, while the residential areas around it had Bunnings stores. He is also about the only one on Council who wants it, he is just using his extra votes to get it over the line. Also he is the Major who likes to propose big projects that never happen. There is meant to be 2 large towers opening at The Entrance but nothing has happened with them in years. Then last year they brought a large chunk of land west of the M1, that was overpriced, so that they could build an international airport. Which the plans fell through and now the land has lost most of its value. Then there is an education precinct, he hoped to build at Warnervale. He wanted it to cater for science and technology, while hoping that the University of Newcastle would run it. They turned it down as they have their main campus less then an hour away, in Newcastle that is heavily Science and Engineering based and many of the students from the area are already travelling to Newcastle for class. While other universities also rejected the offer due to the lack of student numbers with UoN and the Sydney universities. So lets just say this is nothing new for the area, the major puts out this stuff all the time.
  16. His announcements are just steps. No brand new announcements. Also what does the website have to do with anything. That website is much better then many websites made by companies who actually specialise in computer technology. Judging by the general set up it is a generic template that they just changed to meet their needs. There is nothing wrong with that since the company is an oil company and has nothing to do with a website and they would have no employees to create a personalised website so why waste money on personalising it when you already have a perfectly working website, even if it is not the most visually appealing (when in that industry it is not expected to) I am not saying anything for or against the possibility of it actually happening.
  17. It wont die because they guy is dedicated to bring the park "back" (not really back if its all new). It is hardly re-announced. The only reason it seems like that is because every time he makes another step the media reports it but needs to say it all again as the majority of people will not remember it or missed it completely.
  18. I highly doubt Big Brother will return, it's ratings are absolutely horrible and has actually cost them a lot of money. It is an extremely expensive show to put on but it barely makes it into the top 20 shows for the night it is on. On the night it did make it into the top 20 it only made it into the top ten a couple of times the whole season. The average views for the season was 0.65 million people. In fact its viewer numbers are very similar to Family Feud which is much cheaper to produce.
  19. Reasons for the injuries and deaths, in short and very simplistic form. Failed to follow the safety rules. As was the other case from the same point Person fell over, then suffered medical issues. Staff miss communication. Accident during stunt training. Not enough information on this one but it could be anything from, poor design, to poor maintenance to mechanical failure. Staff member fell over resulting in being run over. Poor Maintenance. Finger was caught. Staff error Staff error or failure of equipment. Failed to follow the safety rules. Staff error By quick count there are only 4 on the list that was Disney's or a staff members actions resulting in guest injury or death. Hardly enough to call it a dark side.
  20. Obviously you have never been in many of the suburbs of Sydney. I used to live in down there. The house was with the family for decades. When my parents used to live there it was completely "white" Australian. As my parents took over the house the area started to get many Islamic people in the area. By the time I was in school it was 80% Islamic. While I was at school, we had to live by the Islamic Traditions, there was no two ways about it. As you went around the place traditions were being forced upon us more and more. The year after I left the school and more far away, as we did not feel like having a culture forced down our throats. Now when you go down there, it is completely Islamic, they have forced everyone out of the area. There are many other cases where this type of thing has been happening. Also add to the ones where culture want to get their laws into parliament As for the University of Newcaslte. It is hard to find articles about it as it was years ago, but you can still see the effects of it today, with the Uni offering bonus ATAR points for students in schools within the region. You don't know anything about me. You just think that what I am saying is my opinion. Well news flash it is not, this is the opinion of the people in the area it is being built in. Also your part saying No multiculturalism is far from what it was saying anyway. I was talking about a complete take over by another culture. Not blending cultures. Another failure at reading. I know all these people in this thread need to go back to school and learn to read and not just skim read and assume. I know its not what you meant but I used it anyway. I haven't even said my opinion (which is I don't want it but for other reasons) but for some reason some idiots want to attack me. Also claiming that they are accepting is rather hypocritical as they are abusing a bunch off people because of what they believe, I don't see how you are any better then them.
  21. Shut your mouth, I think I know more about the area then you do. They left Sydney to get away from other cultures trying to shove their culture down people throats, which happens in much of Sydney. Also why should people keep moving, when their is an area right here where culture is not shoved down your throat. Its not diversity that's the issue is cultures forcing their way in and controlling. It happens time after time. Its fine if they can live by our ways, or live with their culture while also embracing ours, but when they come in large numbers that never happens, as they no longer need to live with the culture but can form their own area, exactly how a Chinatown type area starts. There are plenty of people in the area that are from other cultures but have lived our culture as well as their own, which everyone is ok with. I will leave out your insult. Not all of the area is bogan territory. The closer you get to the coast the higher class it gets. It basically goes from lower class to higher class in the space of 14km. The freeway is basically the central of the lower class area. I live 14 KM away right on the coast.
  22. It would be fine, except the people in this area live here because they don't want to be in those type of areas. Many people in the area do not like foreigners (not tourists or those who want to live and share their culture, but people who try and enter the country then turn areas into their own, which at the level they are trying to do with this area will cause it to happen, aka a Chinatown, or as seen in many place some Arabs force their culture onto everyone else). Many people moved here to get away from it in Sydney. From someone in the area, it really shouldn't be here. It doesn't fit in to the area, both with the culture of the area and location. Also add that the people will hate it if it gets so many tourist and people moving in and most likely forcing their culture. Also lets just say (being kind using these words), many of the people in the area are not very smart. A prime example of this is when a resident started complaining about the few people complaining about the planned airport. He lives right under the proposed flight path, he he actually said "we already have the noise from the train, how much worse can a few planes be." The University of Newcastle has had this issue in the past. They attempted to bring in students from Asia. They got more then they bargained for. This caused issues in the area, as they caused disturbances in the surround area and on the campus. They have now taken steps to reverse it and get more local students. So lets just say it has happened before in the near by area before and it didn't work well at all. Some areas it would be ok, but in an area like this, they are just attempting to take over the area. This is mostly due to the council, they are very deceitful and the mayor only works to help himself. For starters they proposed a small regional airport in Warnervale. Fears were raised that it would be used as Sydney's second airport. Council turned it down for a month. It was later revealed that the airport was never planned to be regional but to be a full on Airport that would act as Sydney's second airport. The major has constantly been spending money to help himself. He wanted to buy some Gold major chains for his trip to China, since the council has never had them before. Turns out he actually gets to keep them when he leaves office. He also owns a local Mitre 10 store. For years it was basically in the middle of nowhere and was only passed when traveling, not long after he got into office the area surrounding the store, turned into housing and has now become overcrowded. This is when other areas had been promised to have work and new land build up on for years but he decided to populate the area around his store where no one wanted. Sorry if there are mistakes in there, it is late, and I needed to keep going back and changing sections.
  23. It appears that the governments want to turn the area into a huge draw for Asians. Along with the Chinese park they now are planning to build a decent size university campus aimed at Asian students. This is all very strange considering the area they are trying to build this in is not very diverse in terms of cultures, almost everyone in the area is what some would call "white Australians". So it just seems very strange that they are trying to start up tourism and an education precinct that is aimed at people who have very little current presence in the area.
