  1. Hi! I;ve been spending some time looking at the theme parks before I was born (1993) just to see how much they have changed before I first visited in 1999. I'm looking at an image from Dreamworld in 1991 - can someone tell me what the water area is here on the map? I believe it to be in the Kennyland/Gum Tree Gully area (near the Avalanche). I don't remember ever having seen it before, so maybe it was removed before I ever went there? Thanks! dreamworld 1991.pdf
  2. I like the Claw - I feel every time you ride it's just as thrilling and exciting as the last time (it was a toss up between Wipeout and Claw). Not a fan of Surfrider, and I haven't ridden Doomsday. But I'm sure it's just as fun
  3. I have NO problem with MDMC - I think it's a great ride. I haven't experienced any rides within USA so I suppose I don't have much to compare it too, but I certainly don't think it's a terrible ride. It is just a fun, quick roller coaster ride that doesn't have a long queue. I think it's fun (sorry to be THAT PERSON who enjoys It!)
  4. It was! It had good pictures going back to 2005 when it was still open as well. It was good to compare 2005 (open) - 2009 (closed for a while) - 2016 (closed for ages). Its so overgrown and its so sad! The google street view was interesting as well!
  5. No - never heard of that one! I flicked through the photos - other than rides being auctioned off, this place is great - no graffiti! That makes it even cooler! Thanks so much for sharing
  6. I guess it's probably been said - but its such a big area not to replace, and you already have the Buzzsaw there - so eventually they will have to do something, or the Buzzsaw will stick out like a sore thumb. A family ride is exactly what they need - and something just as family thrilling as TRR was.
  7. But isn't Rocky Hollow already a flume? As much as a family ride is needed, DW are hardly going to build two Flume rides within walking distance of each other.
  8. That would be amazing @AlexB! No stress if you don't have time, but if you could it would be much appreciated! I used to have NearMaps access at my old work - it was really cool!
  9. Thanks so much @Theme Park Girl - these are really helpful! Yep, the last time I went Bermuda Triangle was still up and running, so a lot has changed. Once I finish building my house, I am definitely taking a much needed trip to the Gold Coast! Thanks for that @themagician - it's a bit clearer than Google Earth shows. If only Nearmaps was free....
  10. And are both of these still open? Also, in the below photo - is this cleared area where the Corkscrew/Pirate ship used to be? Is there any idea what is going here - or is this part of the discussion? Sorry for newbie question - just trying to get my head around the park considering its been 8 years or so since I last went!
  11. In light of this discussion (and because I haven't been to Seaworld in a few years) I was having a look around on Google Earth. Can anyone advise what this area of the park is? Is it a ride? Both the water thing that has tracks in it, and the funny structures behind it. It looks lie it is where the old waterpark was - or at least half of it, because part of it in the front of the photo. Thanks!
  12. 9 News Gold Coast is currently livestreaming the AGM of Ardent Leisure.
  13. Right, that makes sense. I took it as staff - but it seems unlikely 4 staff were sitting in one boat/raft at that time of day, especially when footage shows other rafts at different sections of the ride. I would understand it now to be due to ride, not due to a natural cause.
  14. I have this report http://www.9news.com.au/ This man is still saying Buzzsaw - it is clearly rapids, but the video shows police tape all around the buzzsaw (going through the buzzsaw building) as well.
  15. Another report has confirmed all 4 people have died - I surely hope not
  16. Yeah, channel 9 says buzzsaw as they show pictures of thunder river rapids!
  17. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/dreamworld-emergency-person-unconscious-after-incident-on-ride-police-say-20161025-gsa7ek.html
  18. I think you're right - Nine has reported that it is a "water ride". http://www.9news.com.au/national/2016/10/25/15/48/reports-of-at-least-one-dead-in-serious-dreamworld-ride-accident Shows how unreliable Facebook can be sometimes. I can't seem to find photos though.
  19. How awful Newbie question - what is an industrial incident as opposed to a non-industrial incident?
  20. I know Facebook is not the most reliable source - but a lot of the people commenting are there, saying its the BuzzSaw. https://www.facebook.com/9NewsGoldCoast/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED&fref=nf
  21. I have just read 1 dead, 3 injured - apparently on the BuzzSaw.
  22. The company I used to work for built all of the shelter/structures at W&W Sydney - the cabanas, gazebos, etc. We got special tickets a week before it opened, and we had the whole place to itself. It was cool, but not nearly as exciting as W&W Gold Coast. Thanks so much to everyone for giving me more links & videos to view. I live in VIC - the only abandoned parks I know of is Wally's World (in Vermont South) and there was a park in Langwarrin.
  23. Has anyone heard of/been to Dreamland in Cambodia? I read an article on it this morning - apparently it is really bizarre but also very cool!
  24. I love looking at pictures from Chippewa Lake Park - I think given its history, it makes for an interesting story. But I need to do more research on it! Nara Dreamland is just amazing - it has hardly been vandalized which makes it even better. I encourage urban exploration, as long as people leave it untouched for the next person. I haven't been to Japan, but if I ever go I would definitely visit. Six Flags is also super cool! But I agree, it is cliche, but I have also heard that a company has submitted plans to restore it back to Jazzland! Hopefully the council agree to that (rather than the former plans submitted to have it converted to a shopping tour). Thanks so much for your information!
