  1. I think we could expect the first 500 feet roller coaster built for the Wonderland revival. It is really the only reasonable conclusion we can come to. Sure, it will take a lot of feet to build, but when it is. It will be a site to see.
  2. You'd hope so. You can never allow yourself to take advantage of the situation you are in, it will eventually blind you from innovation. If Intamin are continuing to take inspiration from other manufactures and pushing the boundaries of the roller coaster industry, it will only push the other manufactures to better their product. Not everything will work, but eventually you will find something. I would of been disappointed if Intamin were not adventuring into new territory, challenging themselves with new ideas. Competition in this case will only benefit customers, which will trickle down to us.
  3. Him and his profile picture, utterly terrifying. Where is Walt leading Mickey Mouse? That is the real question, what is Walt going to do to him? I agree with Mr. Bean.
  4. I am sorry, but this is one of the most stupid threads I have possibly seen. Granted, I have personally made some stupid threads in my day. The most productive answer you will get is 'intense' or 'not intense'. You are asking us to describe a feeling, we can not possibly do that. Do you want words like 'extreme', or even 'pure adrenaline'? How about intense in Spanish? Intenso! Does this fulfill your needs? DC Rivals was so Intenso! My point is, stop asking us to describe a feeling. Do we look like Shakespeare? The only way you will overcome roller coasters is through riding them, speaking from experience. You do not need to jump into the deep end, in some cases it will only create more fear. Slowly and surely take more and more steps to build your confidence, these feat of engineering are nothing to be scared of. So in short, my advice is take what you can handle. You are allowed to take your time, there is no rush. Just be productive about it, there is no use in being scared of something you clearly have some interest in.
  5. I would say the most iconic ride Australia has ever had was the Tower of Terror. It might of only had the world record because of a delay, but it is that it held that record is what is important. I think it is what put Australia on the map in terms of theme parks. DC Rivals might be too young to be called an icon, but it will definitely grow to become synonymous with the Australian theme park industry. I mean, one can argue it is already the star attraction.
  6. I would be very surprised if Wild West Falls gets removed, it is a very popular and iconic ride at the park. Also, it is one of the only water rides in the entire park, so removing it would leave a massive hole. Is there even any evidence to suggest it would be Wild West Falls? But Arkham Asylum is certainly gone, and i am quite happy about it.
  7. I don't know where is the best place to voice my opinion on the new Yogi Bear 4D attraction, but whilst the topic is being mentioned. I will throw in my two cents. This is coming from a guy who saw the movie in a cinema, the 2011 Yogi Bear movie is quite a unusual choice for a 4D film. Considering this is not only the first time the movie has had an opportunity of a slight thought in someone's mind in sometime, but is the character of Yogi Bear even popular with the kids anymore? The attraction will most likely get the numbers, but surely there was better decisions to be made.
  8. How would you know the late 90s to the early 2000's was the 'golden years' for the park? This is the golden years for the park in my opinion, with the exit of Arkham Asylum allowing for better future developments. The park attraction wise is a lot better than the 2000s, DC Rivals makes a lot of difference. I do think Movie World can spend a few years renovating the place, but i entirely disagree that the late 90s to early 2000's was the park's peak.
  9. How long do you think it will take for a replacement for the ride? Considering Wet & Wild is most likely next to get some investment, since water sliders are a lot cheaper than roller coasters.
  10. I honestly could not care less if they get rid of the castle, sure it has been there for a long time. But getting rid of the castle will not only give an excuse to remove the hideous corpse of Viking's Revenge, but also free up space for future development.
  11. I mean, it was apart of the marketing campaign. But no. Most of it is gone now, they got rid of a lot of things from their YouTube channel. They still have their Facebook videos still up, didn't get rid of those!
  12. How does a topic on Ardent Leisure admitting guilt for the deaths of four people, turn into a discussion about showering naked, Big Brother and shitty parent advice. May the world never know.
  13. Does anybody remember the Buzzsaw marketing campaign where staff members told stories of their ghost experiences? There was also some competition to stay over night at Dreamworld. I think they made the videos of the marketing campaigns private on their YouTube channel, but i just remember them really well.
  14. Interesting to see another company creating concepts around the single rail track design. I personally don't see really any of these getting off the ground, and if they do it won't become popular with parks. All of these concepts are clearly heavily inspired by other manufacturers. I understand that is how the industry works, but why wouldn't a park just go with the manufacture who originally created the concept and has already proven themselves with that concept? This is just Intamin throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks.
  15. I mean, i think FriendlyJordies is great and all. But, was this necessary? Out of all his videos, this one? This is like lower tier of his content. For context, he mainly makes videos on Australian politics using humour as a way to reach an audience that isn't really interested in politics.
  16. The letters funny enough has been changed from black to white on the Dreamworld Website. I don't know how much you could be credited for it, but the logo has improved.
  17. Considering it is a press release, i think that is the aim of the article.
  18. Didn't realise that there was jazz playing, i should of went if that was the case!
  19. I was scared of the big thrill rides for a long time, and i mean a long time. So most of my stories comes from my dad putting me on rides that i was utterly terrified of. This was back when my favourite rides were Mick Doohan's Motocoaster and Shockwave. I remember starting to do research on these rides that i was terrified of, which by research i mean Wikipedia articles. I was starting to come out of my shell a bit, so i decided to brave the Giant Drop. I was instantly terrified after riding and immediately never wanted to get back on another big ride again. A similar story happened with the Batwing Spaceshot, except i was forced onto the ride by my father on my second-ever trip to Movie World. I remember just being terrified, it felt so high up. I went on the ride late last year for an end of school trip, i have never been more underwhelmed. My first ride of Superman was interesting, i hugged my dad and had my eyes shut throughout the queue. Then we got back row, and i thought it wasn't that bad at first. I had already seen the Theme Park Review pov, so i was just pointing out the stuff like the waterfalls and cop cars to my father. Then we launched... the rest of the experience is a blur. I had my eyes closed the entire time. My dad constantly tried pushing me onto the big rides, like Tower of Terror. Which i never rode, which i am a bit bummed. I was too scared when we had Dreamworld passes, and i haven't been back since 2014. There is always Magic Mountain i suppose. I remember my first time on DC Rivals fondly, i remember still feeling a bit intimated. After the ride, any fear i had of coasters just faded away. I will wrap it up with one quick stories on my experience in theme parks as a young youngster. My first ride on Bermuda Triangle scared me so much that i kept my head down the entire ride (Which seems to be a common trope.) My mother thought i fell or jumped off the boat during the ride.
  20. It was just shocking to watch the Tower of Terror go so high up the tower.
  21. The new-age Vekoma coasters have been really good from what i have seen. I would love to see more parks get a Vekoma, which is a phrase that would be laughed at a few years ago. Slowly but surely they are reversing their image of the discount coasters of the 90s.
  22. I only hope the landscaping for the new coaster is close to as good as this No Limits rendering, but that might just be wishful thinking considering the financial situation.
