  1. I was at DW yesterday afternoon. There was security on the internal (inside dreamworld) entry they weren't letting anyone that was already in the park into the store, telling everyone to exit DW and enter through the external door. We were leaving anyway but went around to the external door and there was a queue to get in, so gave it a miss. The store was packed.
  2. Agree (Cactus Matt), but they would have known that when they built it - wouldn't have been a surprise. Maybe the surprise was the rate of surface rust (or whatever the issue is/was) was much higher than anticipated but you'd think the manufacturer would be pretty switched on about things like that. Yeah, wouldn't have thought so.
  3. I don't ever recall seeing the mist on Superman, only on the ads. It would look good with the mist, surely it can't be that much of a maintenance issue (but it does seem like a likely reason), most of the ride is out in the weather.
  4. ^ Agree. Theme parks just get too hot on a hot day, all the concrete etc just draws the heat in. I edited my post - I said TOT2 was way too hot in the queue area towards the last flight of stairs - it was really bad yesterday. But at the start of the queue area, where the queue didn't reach, it was fine as aircons were running, Now Santa's post makes sense
  5. I was there yesterday, for a hot day the place was pretty busy. Giant drop was not operating when I got there (around 1pm), it seem to be running through a few test runs without passengers. It was operating again by around 2.30pm*, but the queue was pretty big and only the eastern side was operating so I gave it a miss. I went on HWSW for the first time in ages, that thing is rough! DW really need a decent coaster. * times are a bit of a guess, I wasn't taking that much notice.
  6. So you pretty much proved my point, which you obviously missed....
  7. What was innovative about MDMC, I don't really know the history of it? I don't necessarily think MDMC is a dud, sure it doesn't live up to it's high speed motor bike theme, but it seems reasonably popular and fills the kids/adult ride gap. I haven't formed any opinion on the ride, I simply stated that Mack rides, in general, are a little uninspiring (like Storm and Scooby Doo - theming aside). And my original question was (nothing to do with the actual ride being built): What's the general consensus on Mack Rides as a manufacturer? My contribution to that was that I didn't think, from research done on their other installations, that they aren't particularly innovative.
  8. Yeah, sometimes the simple things are the best. I'd gues MW would want to play it safe too, with a proven and reliable design. With GL issues, they probably aren't too keen to take risks. A big coaster out the front will also have significant visual impact.
  9. I haven't been on it, so only basing my thoughts by YouTube videos. It looks to be a fairly generic train that goes up a lift hill (granted a tall hill), down the other side, through a loop, then over numerous hills with a few turns thrown it. It doesn't look anything new and innovative other than it's shear size. I'm sure it's fast and fun but I don't think it's particularly innovative in terms of ride evolution, especially when compared to other recent installations.
  10. Yeah Lost Gravity looks good, Flash looks good too, but really not very innovative, just a bigger version of what's been done before. I'll check out the others. I'm confident what ever is built will be good, but maybe not 'pushing the envelope' good.
  11. What's the general consensus on Mack Rides as a manufacturer? I find that any of the really good looking rides, found on You-Tube, aren't Mack coasters. And any Mack coasters I come across are fairly uninspiring. Hopefully I'm wrong for this one, but I'd feel more excited if a different manufacturer was building it.
  12. Oh, ok - the concreting and rails look relatively new in that photo on my screen, hence wondering what they were installed for. I thought the queue line was unchanged from Lethal Weapon to AA, but it was a while ago so my memory is a bit rusty on that detail.
  13. What are those railings usually used for, they look pretty permanent?
  14. Ahhh ok, I would have thought that's the better option from the stores point of view. So can you access the store once in Dreamworld? If so, I guess they have turnstiles to check passes of people coming in the lego store's external entry and then trying to get into Dreamworld?
  15. I'm assuming you can only get into the Lego store once you're in Dreamworld?
  16. Surely DD capacity is worse than the Claw? It looks like they both seat the same (32) but Claw seems to have quicker loan/unload and DD has 8 seats (I think it's 8) you have to be below a certain height which rules most people out. One Fright Night DD was leaving these 8 seats empty on nearly every run because everyone was too tall......a pretty poor design really (unless the height thing has been fixed).
  17. Spewin, I only bought 3 new season passes a few weeks ago @ $99. Oh well, at least we got to go a few times over the holidays and see the fire show.
  18. Why does it take 6 weeks for a relatively new ride?
  19. It is a pretty good area, just a shame the ride is mediocre at best. I guess for kids wanting to go on a 'bigger' ride it would be ok, just not up there with a lot of other rides imo.
  20. That's for kids pass, adults are $99. Opps posted twice.....
  21. I'd be pretty confident that large transactions such as this would have hedging etc in place to protect against currency movements.
