As much as I'm sure they pulled that info out of their respective arses, it WILL be faster than Superman Escape, and who knows given a couple of years TOTII might end up launching even slower -
I'd love one side of the Giant Drop to feature stand up variants of the gondolas, and by love I mean would be even more petrified to ride than it currently is.

On the topic of 'e-stop' I remember the very first time I rode The Tower of Terror it went past the station, I didn't even know it wasn't supposed to do that until I heard murmurs from other riders and then having the carriage slowly brought back to the station by ride operators, quite the experience! As much as I hate to say it as it is now Terror of Terror 2 is a pale shadow of what was once a great (very good?) ride, and not just because of the reduced launch speed.

I only got a chance to ride the 'pre drop' version once, personally I thought it was preferable if only because the way it is and has been since (i.e. straight drop) does a number on my nerves, I suppose that's the point but The Giant Drop is the only ride that instills the same fear I had the very first time I rode it every subsequent time, I'll never get used to it.

The article kinda read more like an angry blog than something you'd find on a news site (though given the quality of theme park news from supposedly 'reputable' news sources these days, I don't know). Having said that... I agree completely with the article, if a billboard shows a canoe ride outside a theme park, I 100% expect to see said ride in the park. Not all visitors have the benefit of the doubt of knowing the park as well as we do, and the language barrier some foreign tourists have will only add to disappointment and frustrations for some.

Dreamworld Operational Stoppage - with a twist
Cactus_Matt replied to webslave's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Imagine if the media ACTUALLY did its job for once and report on things without sensationalism and hyperbole, what a world that would be? Guess it's easier/more profitable to stretch the truth to the point of breaking just for more clicks and ad revenue. -
Dreamworld 'Pure Imagination' Campaign
Cactus_Matt replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I miss the, 'do Dreamworld just for fun' song, that's pure nostalgia for me, not a song from a movie that has little to nothing to do with the park. But each to their own I suppose. -
[Wishful Thinking] The Gold Rush Replacement

You could have every ride themed after a different Doctor, rather than having to deal with the cost of updating EVERY attraction when a Doctor regenerates. You could so easily theme the Vintage Cars to the 3rd Doctor. -

Surprised no one brought this up with all the Doctor Who talk http://www.insidethemagic.net/2016/07/sherlock-holmes-doctor-who-london-paramount-bbc-theme-park-coming-to-kent-england/ To put in my two cents, as a massive Doctor Who fan both past & present (& future lol) I think there is merit to the idea of a Doctor Who themed park/area, however I fully concede that many people I know still consider it dorky and niche, which for a park like Dreamworld is probably the last thing they wan't. They want broad, dare I say, generic appeal, as is the way with many things on the Gold Coast. I lived on the Gold Coast for 21 years and I know that while there is some audience for this kind of thing, it would be looked down upon as 'geeky' and 'lame' by a large portion of the park going populous. There's a time and a place for Doctor Who and Dreamworld isn't it. -
Verrückt Incident - Schlitterbahn, USA
Cactus_Matt replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I was at an advantage that I spent like a whole day researching this about 2 months ago, practically read everything I could on it. I go through these obsessive phases about things like this. There was a period of a week a couple years ago where all I read was about Disneyland related accidents. -

Verrückt Incident - Schlitterbahn, USA
Cactus_Matt replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I would imagine that whoever did the 'independent investigations' after the accident would have done recreations with weighted dummies to determine whether it was weight distribution solely to blame or just a freak accident? The fact he was "ejected" from his seat seems to indicate that their was a failure with the restraints, whether it was just not properly fastened, or he wiggled out of it, or as another patron of the ride had experienced at an earlier date that the restraint itself broke. -

I'm sure I'm not the only who's thought that the Wild West Falls area would really benefit from a wooden roller coaster in it. -

They installed the netting after boats started flying off during testing. I'm sure it's already known by a few on here, but for those who don't the reason this happened is because the weight on the raft was not properly distributed. Three people per raft, no more than 550 pounds of people per raft, the kid (74 pounds) was on a raft with two others, one weighing 197 pounds, the other 275 pounds, he should have been seated between the people but instead was put in the front hence the raft becoming airborne and connecting with the netting and the metal loops that held it up. -
A Pirate Live Show at Dreamworld from the 90's?

It does seem very familiar, but as said before I would have been very young at the time so I can't say with 100% certainty. Nice find @Jamberoo Fan! -

@Jamberoo Fan I recall some days or maybe a week ago there was an interview with a guy from Movie World saying 'we look forward to announce the ride' or something. So I just called it a pre-announcement announcement. -
Is Tower of Terror a roller coaster?

Better contact Dreamworld too and tell them they have the longest roller coaster in Australia lol -

I think you can make a ride taller without moving supports by just changing the angle of the lift hill to be slightly steeper?
