Yeah when I went to Dreamworld in September '16 it was included in the entry price.

@themagician yeah good point, probably more to do with that, guess I'm just desperately trying to rationale why it's taking them so long to announce the damn thing.

Maybe the reason they're starting construction with this seemingly random section of the ride and not with the lift hill or close to the beginning is so they can use it as a backdrop to do their announcement from, would be a cool, striking image to hold a press conference in front of.

Maybe it's because Movie World is too busy spending money on world class attractions and not worrying about shops.

^^^ reminds me of Oblivion at Alton Towers or Osiris at Parc Asterix. Most themed coaster I've ever ridden probably goes to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at Unviersal Studios Osaka, BUT i'm guessing that doesn't count as an actual roller coaster lol

Wasn't this just in the off topic topic or am I going crazy? On topic, there's no point to having on-ride audio on Hotwheels Sidewinder because the only sound I hear is my brain rattling round inside my head! (Okay, so it's not quite that bad but you get what I'm getting at.)

What makes a coaster fun? Well, hate to break it to y'all but here's the secret... it's if it's fun.

I think I'd prefer "Jack Daniel's Buzzsaw", since a couple of shots of JD is the only thing that'd make that ride palatable.

Even as an (almost) 30 year old the original Scooby Doo theming scared me! In a good way mind, let's just say there's no need for whatever future theming that comes in to traumatise children, the Gremlins ride did that enough to me thank you very much.

You can guarantee that if there was a routine ride stoppage the same day World War 3 was declared the media would still find a way to cover it as if it was somehow relevant in the grand scheme of things.

I don't know if it was mentioned earlier in the thread (i'm too drunk to be bothered to check) but how does the upcharge on AA work? Where/how do you pay the extra $5?

I'm interested to see some brakes, yeah, I know possibly the lamest thing to want to see from a roller coaster but I've never seen a brake run separated from a roller coaster and just have an odd itching to see what it looks like. HEHE!

I thought this was interesting. RCDB themselves calling a 166ft roller coaster in Japan a hypercoaster, it does by all appearances meet the physical definition of a 'standard' hypercoaster. So maybe there's more wiggle room on the 200ft minimum after all? Edit: Link https://rcdb.com/1194.htm

I'd like the ride to go right over the top of the tower and continue down the other side then circuit through/around the old river and back into the station like an air powered coaster. It'll never happen because it would cost 10's of millions to do and the launch speed would have to be at least 200km/h.

There's no way it'd be used for emergency access/escape for guests, it'd be strictly for maintenance if that is indeed what it is for.

Not big enough for coaster tunnels. They look maintenance/emergency related perhaps.

Could be an above ground tunnel, certainly cheaper than digging and concreting one.

Seeing the abandoned Blue Lagoon like that makes me want to see what it looks like up close. So many memories of that place as a kid.

I doubt Dreamworld will be doing much of anything for the 2017 period, announcing or building of rides. Considering how much money they lost last year investing money in new attractions will be far from the accountants and shareholders minds, no matter how much the park sorely needs it.
