  1. We're only just getting that view of the Murrisippi back from the front gate, That would kill it again. With TOT going, surely they could squeeze one somewhere along where the track currently sits. If it was somewhere like that, it would be a perfect central location for the park and make for great landscape photos of the park with the tower and the wheel. Modify the train station to have stairs/elevator/ramp/whatever up to a second level where it goes across the train line and joins to the wheel station. That would probably cause things to be a bit cramped though unless the whole station got a massive rework. Plus the walkway from the top of the station would need to be enclosed so smoke from the tractor or by some miracle, the train, doesn't gas everyone above. I definitely think something big impact and small footprint like a wheel or something should go somewhere along that central corridor. It would make use of finally having the park not be split in half and that central location to get great views of the park and even the carpark. As mentioned before, it's always fun playing the "spot our car" game while 200ft in the air.
  2. I know it's probably supposed to be visible but "no viable activity" accurately sums up the current state of the ride.
  3. Just blow up central park station and install a huge wheel
  4. We bitch when the park doesn't listen to us on here but also refuse to actually approach the park services and raise the issue. Welcome to 2020
  5. Finding are expected to be handed down on February 24th Here's the actual article if you're paywalled or something. It's just a bunch of filler crap to pad out a full article about a date. "The findings from an investigation into the deaths of four people at Australia's biggest theme park will be released on February 24. Kate Goodchild, Luke Dorsett, Cindy Low and Roozbeh Araghi were killed on a ride at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast in 2016. The four died when a raft on the Thunder River Rapids ride collided with an empty vessel. Two children who were also on the raft were able to escape. A month-long inquest in 2018 heard staff didn't have adequate training and some incidents at the park went unreported. Nine News reported in January the theme park's owner, Ardent Leisure, has already paid out more than $5 million in compensation claims. It has also been reported this figure could climb as high as $20 million."
  6. No one notices the little things, until the little things aren't there anymore
  7. Except that random marine park that is 40 minutes down the road and not attached to the same mega property that the other theme parks/studios/event venues are housed on.
  8. Anyone checked on Jetstar recently? They still holding up?
  9. But unless it's a company that knows how to run theme parks. If they drop any capital, it'll probably be a bunch of stupid shit that's not needed. We've seen before what happens when a theme park is taken over by people who aren't in the business of running a theme park *cough* ardent leisure *cough* It's only now that the head brass is made up of theme park focussed people, that we're finally seeing some* pride and care taken with the park. *There is still a long way to go but it's a hell of a lot better than where they were.
  10. I thought telling the truth was the easiest way to get a fountain around here?
  11. Even though somewhere closer to the maintenance facility would make the most sense, this seems to be some lone containers that are being used to ship the larger pieces of TOT out to Magic Mountain
  12. Also the one at knotts probably didn't have an excavator running over it and dropping the rubble from a cave into it
  13. I did mention "as earthworks begin". It could be 12 months worth of earthworks but it should still be ramping up soon, e.g. machinery arriving and actually starting to prep the land for the footers to go down. It's possible that some trees may have to be removed but at the same time my understanding is that the GD pathway mess will be cleared up around this time too so I'd assume that whole area will just be closed off for a few months.
  14. The real fun will be riding GD post TOT track removal. It wont have a giant anchor on one side any more and you'll get that fun 400ft tower sway. As for the actual removal, as Tim said, it will just be unbolted and lowered to the ground. I'm also pretty sure that it's already been stated a few times but the track removal would most likely be done during the new coaster construction. They will bring in a couple large cranes to shift track/support pieces around and also remove the track from the tower. It would just be financially ridiculous to not dual utilise the cranes and downtime of that whole section of the park. Once the holidays are over (in the next week or two) we'll probably see a massive ramp up of activity around the coaster site as earthworks begin and footers/footings/footerings begin to be formed. Which means shipping containers from Mack hopefully shouldn't be too far away either. Once those start arriving on site, that's when I would expect work to be starting/have started on the TOT track.
  15. Yeah, why make a logical decision about deconstruction when you can just shoot a rocket at it
  16. Maybe that's why I have a real job. Probably why I can understand jokes about businesses taking money too
  17. Well they gotta make a profit as well as raise some money to donate. If you double the price then you can 50-50 with the take
  18. Last time I tried to stand up to someone they took my last leg. How can I stand up to someone like @AlexB who has 3 working legs?
