  1. IMO i think that its become even more iconic because of what happened. I also think they've turned the page and our now focussing on the future and what is needed to insure that everyone that visits the park has a great time. Ive seen now that you aren't the biggest fan of the park, but if you have a look at the articles with the statements that Dreamworld have given and the evidence to show for it, you will see that they are actually ticking all the right boxes!
  2. I dont want it to change either, its an iconic landmark in Australia!! IMO i just thought it would probably be more likely than Disney... Warner Bros. has Movieworld.. so why not?
  3. If you want my opinion, i think Dreamworld would go better as a Universal Studios. (Mostly because they have the spinning Globe) but because the rides can easily be themed to one of their movies and the zombie area can be transformed into one of the famous dark rides. But i dont know, we'll see how it plays out.
  4. Source: Courier Mail "The mother of Dreamworld ride victims Kate Goodchild and Luke Dorsett has no issues with the Gold Coast theme park reopening next week and plans to revisit, says a family friend" I think if the mother can handle it, most other people can.
  5. This is the dumbest and most complicated thread i have ever seen.
  6. They both have their own special differences, i've listed some of them here: Waterslide ~ + You get a new experience every time you ride (depending on the slide) + A good way to cool down on a hot day + Most waterslides are for the whole family + Most girls wear bikinis Rollercoasters ~ + More for the thrillseekers + Faster, scarier and dare i say, more enjoyable? + You can get some good G-Forces + MUCH LONGER WAIT TIME (sometimes)
  7. That doesnt say anything about getting up to 100,000 tourists each day. If that was true, then Gold coast would get around 35 MILLION tourists per year.
  8. Yes, when its New Years Eve, its snowing and Taylor Swifts helicopter had to land on the beach.
  9. The Great Barrier Reef ALONE gets over 2 million visitors per year, almost as much as Movieworld, Seaworld AND wet n wild combined! I think its about time to develop something up north.
  10. Not trying to be annoying here but im about to drop the statistics bomb: Village Roadshow operates Sea World & Sea World Resort & Water Park, Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet ’n’ Wild on the Gold Coast. For the year ending June 2015, the three operations of Village Roadshow recorded a 1.4% decrease in income. Income in the year ending June 2015 reached a total of $278.5 million. Visitor numbers for the year ending June 2015 amounted to 5.2 million, representing a decline of 3.8% compared with the previous financial year (see Table 13). The Ardent Leisure Group Theme Parks include Dreamworld, White Water World, and the SkyPoint Observation Deck and SkyPoint Climb. In June 2015, Dreamworld launched ABC kids world. For the second time, in 2014 Dreamworld was awarded Queensland's Best Major Tourist Attraction at the Queensland Tourism Awards and the third most popular tourist attraction at the annual Australian Tourism Awards. However, due to decreased per capita spending, overall revenue decreased slightly (by 0.6%) to $99.5 million. Visitor numbers increased by 11.7% to 2.28 million during the 2014/2015 financial year. (This is the end of the 2015 financial year, but with the new installations of Tiger Island, Doomsday Destroyer, Aqua 8 Racers Re-Vamp and a new rollercoaster, IMO, Seaworld are doing completely fine at the moment, and Dreamworld are taking the right approach to the incident so I honestly think there wont be a very large slump in visitors.) The chance of you dying on a ride is 1 in 500 trillion, im not dying on a ride anytime soon.
  11. Thats probably more likely, in light of the recent accident they were probably told to fix up a few more things. Exactly what happened to DD.
  12. SDSC maintenance period has been pushed back a few days. Must have hit a bump in the road?
  13. Some parts to what?? Doomsday Destroyer?
  14. Im actually very dissapointed that they keep on pushing the re-opening back... but i guess you have to do what you have to do.
  15. I was referring to the ring of fire, I haven't been there in a while so I didn't know what it was. Thanks though
  16. Okay, I was just watching this news report on dreamworld from channel 9, and I noticed what looked like a ride piece behind the storm coaster at SeaWorld. Is this just an old video or is this a new ride??
  17. Actually, no i did! They just merged the poll with @Theme Park Girl's topic.
  18. IMO, i don't think it would work, but on the other hand, I was looking at the Intamin website and saw the "Wing Coaster." The stats are pretty good, and I think it would fit perfectly in where the Vikings Revenge is. TECHNICAL DATA Length of track up to 1200 m Max. speed up to 125 km/h Capacity per train up to 32 Hourly capacity up to 1350 pph Total height up to 62 m Another element that distinguishes Intamin’s Wing Coaster from the other winged coasters is its restraint system. Instead of an over-the-shoulder harness, it has only a lap restraint, allowing for upper-body freedom and actually a feeling of flight. Another world class rollercoaster is just what Sea World needs to rake in some more tourism. Unlike the 4-D free spin there is only 1 other ride like this in the world.
  19. Well said, i really liked the first HWSD but i was a bit disappointed that there would be a second one. I think they should change up their shows every 1 or 2 years in that arena.
