There is promising news that vortex will open for it's media launch Tomorrow (21st of Dec) and following that it will be open to the General public which seems realistic
Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Hopefully a soft opening in the coming days, I’m back to Melbourne on Thursday and it would be a nice way to end 7 months up here!

Looks amazing at night.... but that cycle. Like really?

If Oktoberfest 2021 goes ahead, I'm there!

Sorry was just going by you saying you got Drenched when the fountains go full strength.
Haha sorry wrong choice of wording, although something must have been up with the jets on the Top Spin at Alton Towers when we rode it because we got absolutely soaked!

Do people really want to get wet on a ride like this?
The fountains are cool as a near miss, but I've always thought it was weird you have to potentially put up with being soaked on a thrill ride.
Storm Coaster and Battle Boats definitely fill that niche IMO.
Plus I think Village might be shy about squirting water on a ride given the issues Surfrider had.
I mean it was cool on a hot day in Paris, but you don’t get drenched, just a quick splash on the head haha. It was more fun trying to splash each other when they hold you over the jets

There's a reason there isn't such a demand for top spins anymore.
At least it should provide some entertainment before it needs to be reset by maintenance.I mean they still sell them, and they’ve been installed in an few parks in recent years. I’d say they’re still pretty popular, but when you’re dealing with a machine that was originally designed in the early 90s, of course there isn’t going to be a demand like before.
I think many are stuck with “vekoma is better, because of the movements” but not because I’m team HUSS, the top spins just provide a better ride motion and feeling.
Although I’m sure once it’s open people are going to criticise it regardless.

Shame there doesn’t seem to be any rider interaction with them. The best part of the cycle is when they hold you over the jets and you can splash each other before they go full strength and get you drenched. The French gave the best cycle I’ve ever had on a top spin.
For example, YouTube Fleur Top Spin Fresh!I think I had a 10 minute cycle and it was incredible!

Gotta ask how reliable will our top spin actually be since all the others are unreliable
All the others are unreliable....

Heard whispers it’s a week away. Staff training has been done and evacuation scenarios carried out, expect to see live test dummies on it sooner rather then later
Ohhhh this is promising. Super excited

Fingers crossed for Vortex opening ASAP!
I wanna try get on it before driving home to Melb after 6 months.... -

Just seen it reported that the Seaworld SkyFlyer is NOT from Funtime. There is a Funtime model coming to Australia however and it appears to be a travelling model.
Ok well that’s news to all of us! Interesting to see how something like that could travel here because they’re enormous! Excited none the less
-
Be interesting to see if the Sky Flyer is still being made by Funtime.... arguably the best chain ride manufacturer in the world, the 80m models are just beautiful machines!

Can you give us the inside goss then?. You commented the other day you would see Trokia & Ranger. So I gather you might know the company or new owner whos purchased it up north?.
Troika definitely won’t be seeing the light of day again, Ranger is being used for parts, Break Dance... well who knows, but just because Joylands are removing these rides, doesn’t mean they’ll be travelling

I can now confirm that Spider's last day of operation was on Sunday the 22nd of November. Dismantling started this morning, and the ride will be gone by tomorrow. The exciting news is that the truck that's being moved has the Joylands logo on there! It's going to now operate as a carnival ride by Joylands!
Here are some photo's from this evening at Luna Park showing Maloney's Corner. Watch this space as it's already changed. And will continue to change throughout next year.
Lol... best comment all week...
"It's now going to operate as a carnival ride by Joylands"
Sure.

It was run alright. Only so much a ride operator can do when it runs in automatic mode. You'd know this more than everyone else. I find it odd you say this ride was in terrible shape. Yet you don't mention the Ranger. Cause that was in a very bad way.
Didn’t really need to be mentioned as it was common knowledge. There was more to it than just operation of the ride.
also why would I know this more?

OK. So now you are just trashing the park?.
No, I would say the ride specifically.... you don’t need to take it soo personally. Facts are facts. It wasn’t looked after and it wasn’t run very well.

You'd be surprised many noticed the swinging 360-degree gyro first. Just they didn't mention it much here.
I brought up Europe cause you mentioned it first. So easy to tear down a flat ride. Shame it is going. Was also unique that breakdance because it had the modifications to allow children over 110cm to ride. Floor step added to each car and then eventually the "bucket" seats got added.
It was also run terribly and probably the worlds worst example of a HUSS Break Dance.

The Wildmouse has low capacity also with only three cars on track (max) at once. I know you are more into the thrilling flat rides of Europe slammed into a car park 😉. They have pulled off a miracle.
Given how small the park makes this more impressive.I wouldn’t say impressive really. The only thing I’m kinda interested in is that pendulum thing that actually goes 360 which people seemed to have missed. There is a counterweight arm in the renders.
And as for the European comment, they put far more effort into their attractions than anywhere in the world, best atmosphere that no park or fair elsewhere could match. -

Replace existing attractions with attractions that most will be able to ride. The park always was proud about the fact its height limits were never that far about of reach. The Ranger was the only one that needed over 130cm from memory (without cheating and using google).
I'm the first one to say losing those HUSS rides sucked. I was lucky enough to work them for a while. So my attachment was fairly different to most.
This ain't throwing out the park and putting it in the bin.
This is called evolution.
I mean the only thing that looks of some quality is the Intamin coaster, and even then with such a low capacity those coasters hold, that’s a bit of a stretch. I don’t really look at that concept and think, I need to be there opening day of any of these attractions. Even when the Huss rides were there, I didn’t really feel any desire to want to visit the place when I was in Sydney.

Commiserations my friend, but regardless of the quality of the huss attractions, end of life was certainly a deal breaker - and this announcement and expansion more than makes up for it in the eyes of almost everyone it seems....
hard luck buddy.
Hard luck? I don’t live in Sydney so I’m not too worried. I guess I can always go visit the Ranger and Troika if need be.

I knew of all us mate you would be the one that would not be overly happy.😎 But come on- you have to admit this is exciting times for LPS!! This announcement is great for the park and the industry as a whole and more importantly, its great for the tourism potential for NSW. I know we are all going to miss the Huss rides- very true they were exciting and well engineered rides that have now been added to the fabric and history that is Luna Park Sydney.
I guess it’s exciting, I’m not big on LPS, never really have been, even with the HUSS rides in there.
I’ll just cart my ass back to Europe when I can to experience good German Fair Rides ☺️

Takes out HUSS for this....
ok.

Joylands has (and will) receive two rides from the park, one of which will for certain return to the travelling circuit. So yeah wouldn’t be suprised if Rockin Tug was included in that transaction.
I wouldn’t get too excited about that “certain return”

Just got off the first ride to the public, can confirm it is the same cycle we have seen in videos. Fountains don’t rise.
the flips are insanely fun, I have forgotten how big these Huss rides actually are when I haven’t seen them in a while. I think the cycle is fine for opening as they’ll want to get through as many as possible.
just needs more upside down moments and full speed loops because the thing can hammer when they get going.
all in all, the area is cool! Glad I got to be one of the first.
