Geee...the once mighty DW looks like a half day out 1960's rest-stop attraction, on the side of the Pacific Highway! Hold on....I think it is..... ๐

Storm Coaster vs. Wild West Falls vs. The Plunge
RobMac replied to TBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
A quality "Splash Mountain" type attraction is a sitter for DW.....but I doubt management have the talent to see the obvious and go for it! Instead, they'll go out, find some other carnival type ride, issue hyperbole media statements and claim, it's a new world beating attraction coming soon to the Ekka...I mean DW! Before the nervy kids kick in, Splash Mountain is undergoing [or soon to] major reworks and is DECADES old technology now and DW's shown it can spend some real ca$h, when it wants....to get suckered into the "coaster spiral"....when what it REALLY needs, is a world class water flume attraction...that's an all-ages calling card!- 19 replies

They have a park map? Never looked...well, not for years anyway! Delighted to give some feedback on the layout and theming though...a) what USE to be the beautiful IMAX Theatre BUILDING at DW...now totally out of place...looks weird, you can and should build a new attraction INSIDE it, but don't butcher the exterior. b) Also, that HIDEOUSE motorbike rollercoaster that totally DESTROYED the beautiful garden/river theming. c) The new Steel Taipan - I've got no problem with the actual ride, but not where they put it. There's a heap more, but these will do for now. Let's hope the newgen DW mangement has some actual thempark planning skills....so far, a mixed report card! In all fairness, I've not physically set foot in DW in over a decade, with no short-term plan to return...it's just not good enough for me, it hasn't been since Macquarie Bank accountants started ripping the soul out of it years ago, before Ardent was formed....who knows, maybe, I'll take a trip away again....one day!

Vikingโs Revenge Flume Ride Removal
RobMac replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hopefully a quality "flume ride" aged appeal is wide and certainly SEAWorld, needs more water themed attractions.....anything, BUT a[nother] "coaster", that's a bad business and entertainment offering spiral to get trapped in! -
Spitballing Wild Ideas for the Future of Movie World

Classic themed LA street car, running around the perimeter of MW would be a great, all ages attraction and help move people around the park.... -

should be good...wide age appeal...endures... -
The reason why DW will highly likely never have a genuine steam engine again, is because people "ticketed" to drive steam engines are nearly extinct. A handful in railway historical socities and that's about it.

it's a suggestion of a statue....not a defining moment in world history! You blokes would ban Santa in December! ๐ -

Come on DW.....time now for a statue of John at the entry please ๐ -
Disney do NOT change Brand Names.....they certainly DO Modernise and Enhance Experiences, but their Brand NEVER changes! Interesting comments from Tony Lonhgurst in the recent GC Bulletin article.....DW was great.....and now, it ain't!

It's now a shadow of what it was! Happy B'day DW...but let's try to get something of that "feeling" back - yep, you can have all the mod rides etc, but recapture the real spirit!
-
Why would DW "move on" from it's OWN Highly Successful "Rocky Hollow Log Ride" theme? Would Disney suddenly bin Mickey Mouse to simply..."move on", what does "moving on" even actually mean? Enough theme park clueless silly speak and embrace the Hard FACTS of DW's Own creative skill sets!

A New Rocky Hollow Log Ride!
-
Low point for 40yrs sadly! ๐ช

Next big DW ride project in my opinion...New Log Ride! Incredibly popular and a quality water based ride is really lacking at the moment. [Same for Seaworld....particularly SEAWorld!] I rekcon, they should pull the pin on the motorcoaster thing DW have had for years and build an Aussie "Splash Mountain" type attraction there! Gold Mine theming would be a nice return too.
-
True, but Disney went on and built major new and better attractions. In real terms, DW has gone seriously backward....obviously, the TRR tragedy put all the negatives into horrific overdrive. The new coaster, whilst poorly located, is a significant investment, but the park needs to offer more....ie a major new water ride.

๐ช tears for how they still keep butchering DW! One ^&%* up after the next! Not so much WHAT they do is all wrong, it's just how/where they do it!
