The New Atlantis - Construction Updates
Rivals replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The only thing i’m worrying about is the smoothness of the coaster. GG’s and some GCI’s tend to get rough after a while (or upon opening like mineblower) and with it sitting in the sun for this long i hope that’s not the case. If we waited 2years extra for a ride that jackhammers you the entire time and an area that’s under-delivered in the theming department it really won’t be a good look. -

We have seen a big glimpse into the station and it is very impressive. At this point as long as the rides are good im happy. -
Sea World's Leviathan + Trident Testing
Rivals replied to Liamengel17's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Dreamworld announced Steel Taipans opening 15 days prior to the date. They won’t announce a new date then push it back again. -

Early 2023 is a stretch, they just have some landscaping and theming to go then it’s done. I’ll be shocked if they don’t open it in December. -
DC Rivals HyperCoaster train stuck mid-course
Rivals replied to PoolGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It didn’t appear the trims were on today so is it a possibility it was actually an issue with the trims? -

The rule was implemented with the old arrow trains but was then dropped with the new Vekoma trains, the ride has valleyed once with the new Vekoma trains during testing but that’s it. I heard it did valley a couple times with the old Arrow trains (not 100% sure) so it was an actual rule needed. -
Rivals has now reopened.

DC Rivals HyperCoaster train stuck mid-course
Rivals replied to PoolGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Unless they are apart of the rides or maintenance department, cast members aren’t normally told what happens. So unless they were apart of those departments they most likely didn’t know. Hopefully as they are testing the second train it’ll reopen with both trains operation which is also going to help out fright nights a lot. -
DC Rivals HyperCoaster train stuck mid-course
Rivals replied to PoolGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
From what i remember the trims to the first airtime hill as well as after the non-inverting loop were added just after the first couple tests (always meant to be there obviously they just hadn’t added them yet.) They don’t seem to be on a lot of the time and when they are they don’t slow the ride down much at all (the second set hit harder then first) so i don’t think those trims would’ve done it. -

Yesterday the ride was cycling with dummies and there was still one - two earlier today -

Im 90% sure when GC was Cyclone they required a certain number of people on the train to avoid valleying in the rides S-bend section before the helix and reverse sidewinder. that was due to the launch speed not being accurate making it stall at the top of the top hat, having guests / water dummies on it wouldn’t have helped. -

it’s also 27 years old, made by a completely different manufacturer with a completely different layout and hasn’t had that rule since they got new trains. Before this a Mack coaster has never valleyed and 9 times out of 10 it’s hauling, they don’t need a rule like that. -
Madagascar seems to pose as more of a problem to people who are tall or people that have broader shoulders but i could be wrong, i think it would be fine

Motocoaster does still have a test seat out the front, im pretty sure it has the red light green light still but don’t quote me on that. The Claw’s seatbelt is tiny and is a tight fit for a lot of people - probably the tightest fit in the park along with motocoaster - whereas (unless changed during its refurb) Giant Drops seat belt is a lot more forgiving so if Claw is fine so will GD. Steel Taipan is the same seating arrangement as Rivals but for some reason the trains do feel more spacious and have a lot more room with the restraints so that ride should be easier to get on then Rivals was. Most rides at Dreamworld are pretty forgiving so you should be fine, if you are feeling anxious for a ride with no test seat you can ask a staff member if you can test it out and they will assist you :).

DC Rivals HyperCoaster train stuck mid-course
Rivals replied to PoolGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It’s great to see but i wonder why they had to take the lead car (forgot what it’s called) piece off of the train? also, what was the 7News report about, im guessing they’ve finally heard about the ride stalling? -
When you think about it, it does make sense. With the amount of block zones, the elevator lift, turntable and the amount of cars on the track at one time mixed with the thematic elements it really isn’t too surprising.

Normally they all go down not at the same time but it feels more noticeable now that they’re all happening at the same time. DC, Batwing, JL and the kids rides are pretty reliable. Superman / Doomsday are intamins so enough said (Superman seems to either be down a lot or not down at all), same with GL being an S&S. WWF is a lot more unreliable after its refurb which is a shame as it’s arguably the most popular ride alongside Scooby - which also seems a lot more unreliable in recent years since it’s refurb. The two new coasters being Vekoma is definitely a good choice as their new models seem very reliable so it’ll help the park out a lot.

Gumbuya World 2 coasters under construction
Rivals replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Credit: benher_signs Promotional boards look to be being sent to the park, here we can see first concept arts for the two new coasters. My only criticism with these rides is the themes, the rides are next to eachother, but have completely opposite themes that also don’t match the area of the park they are in (unless a new area is opening alongside the new rides) however, besides this they both look like great additions. -
Wild West and Scooby are both down again for Unscheduled Maintenance. With Scooby being open for probably an hour the other day between 2 big breakdowns and Wild West being evacuated (unless it’s due to the weather last night) im not shocked they’re both closed. Atleast GL is back open🤷♀️

Shock as Dreamworld loses man behind Tiger Island attraction
Rivals replied to PoolGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
thank you for explaining the top part for me i honestly had no idea that’s what was meant by the “Asian Tour Busses.” I do agree about the local families too, a lot of the time both animal areas are just filled with families and little kids just completely forgot to add that in too -

It more shows that the park knows animals are apart of their draw card, if they didn’t know that they wouldn’t bother🤷♀️ We’re still at the end of a pandemic, it won’t be like this forever and once those tourists start coming back (icy guess is around mid 2023 - early 2024) it will be a competitive advantage compared to the other parks when tourists are choosing where to visit . Until then focusing on improving areas of the park, adding new rides and refurbishing old ones is a smart move. -

Rivals replied to PoolGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If they didn’t have an interest in keeping animals in the park i don’t think they’d keep bringing new animals in during seasonal events and promoting the animal aspect well like they currently are. Animals may not be the new management’s favourite thing, but i don’t think they’d be dumb enough to get rid of them as it is one of their advantages over the other parks. I mean it would have to be clear to them that the animals are a large draw for international tourists to visit the park instead of the other parks like MovieWorld. -

Rivals replied to PoolGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It sounds like it means they won’t be adding more animal enclosures for the foreseeable future. Also, if current management don’t understand animals, they wouldn’t let go someone that does and has nearly 3 decades of experience. Stuff with employees happens all the time behind close doors at the parks that they don’t want the public to know. I’d say it’s likely something happened with him that they weren’t happy with so they decided to let him go. Not everything is “management in shambles” -
Who would think water running down the drop like that and fencing around the ride could make an area look better (the area still looks good but just saying, little details do make a big difference)
-
Staff were all back on sight yesterday just testing it so i won’t be shocked if it’s actually open. When i was there i didn’t notice a new staircase but the Chain Motor looked to have been replaced (big bright orange motor now) - unsure if that was just used during maintenance or it’s actually been fully replaced.
