  1. So it opens in 2016 at USH? Didnt realise it was so far away ... that will be mark 5 years since the final movie came out - whilst im sure harry potter will be a long time crowd drawer, one would think the impact and interest will have significantly waivered by then with the majority of the youth/teen market that grew up with the book/movie releases moving into adulthood
  2. That's what they get for poor new ride choices, nothing new at WWW for years and buying Skypoint which was a dodgy buy to begin with (no repeat business and only overpriced coffee and cake once you get up there)
  3. *yawn* Would have been a great addition. But not prior to a BT replacement going in Also don't get the whole dinosaur relevance.
  4. Surprising that they would close it Monday and not Tuesday/Wednesday as it is a public holiday on QLD on Monday which usually means big theme park crowds
  5. Sea viper? Lochness monster?? This egg is sitting in the middle of the jungle...
  6. It's a big egg. Maybe they are getting Ostriches I don't really think that a ride 'hatches'. A bizarre analogy if it is indeed a new ride
  7. If a feasibility study was conducted that showed marked growth in tourism dollars and employment for the local community I wouldn't mind state/ fed govt contributing, in part. But I do agree there are a lot more pressing issues in the community right now. Maybe we can have a Disneyland tax. At least we could get some fun out of the money. In saying that on the gold coast now, the government won't even pay to upgrade the roads in order for the long awaiting Coomera Town Centre to open which would employ over 600 people and pour millions into the local economy annually - they want Westfields to pay for it. So chances of them financing in part a theme park are extremely unlikely
  8. Kind of glad that didn't go ahead because that would mean my house that I've just built would probably be in the middle of Frontier Land right now...
  9. Unfortunately it's just not feasible for a park similar to Disneyland or Universal to open in Australia. That situation may change in another 20yrs, but it just wont happen. Disneyland has more visitors annually than Australia has international tourists. Hong Kong Disneyland is located within a few hours of over 1 billion people. To successfully open a park of Disney proportions, I'd say we'd need a population of at least 50 million people to sustain it, and a massive increase in international visitation
  10. I'm up to 4 rides...never heard any audio Starting to think its a myth not unlike the Bermuda Triangle replacement
  11. Yep definitely Sea World. There aren't any standalone aquariums on the gold coast and SW is located at Main Beach
  12. IIRC there were also issues with people hopping off mid tour in the backlot
  13. IMO You can safely say no park in Australia will be likely to EVER have a ride like Oziris.
  14. I think someone already mentioned it The point of the theming is you are INSIDE Arkham Asylum. The sign on the door and inside the Asylum would not say Arkham Asylun Shock Therapy. Just as the signs at your local hospital don't say Oncology Department - Radiaion Therapy - because the radiation, or in this case the Shock Therapy - is a given.
  15. My mate just got back from the states (his first visit) and he bought the VIP Experience I havent done it, so not talking from first hand experience - but he said it was definitely worth it, and if he was to go back, despite now having done it he would buy it again. From what he mentioned you get: an extended backlot tour with a lot more stuff than the regular tour - see a few more sets, you get to go into the props room and actually touch and take photos with props from movies, you get driven around in buggy so not too much walking, you get a buffet lunch which was apparently very good, front of line access to all rides all day (no fastpass type time limit thing - just go to the front anytime you want) and 20% off all merchandise. All up pretty good - i'd definitely do it next time i head over
  16. got a ride on it today Theme wise it definitely is a step up from Lethal, everything looks right and good detail etc. Like most, i struggle to see the point of the massive outdoor area/movie theatre being not used at all. As an area it has so much potential, and i would have loved to have seen at least a 'walk through' of sorts as an entry point to the ride, with all the various villains visible and audio clips etc. It just seems like a waste unless the park has some other plans. Ride wise - i think the new trains are great, no concussion, i really dont think it is any smoother, there just isnt anything to smash you head against so its not as noticable. Not sure on the green buttons to release the harnesses - guess its a novel idea and if it speeds unloading in the long run then im all for it All up - i think its an improvement on Lethal Weapon as an experience - but i wouldnt be rushing to the park purely based on the re-theme and new train (thankfully i have a VIP pass and live 5 mins away so it wasnt a big deal)
  17. Yep that tower looks hidieously 2D and fake. Really weird that they would go to all the effort of re-theming china town and then whack up that ugly wallpaper job. Even the colouring doesn't seem right
  18. So has adrenaline park closed down completely now? Vomitron etc gone?
  19. We're expecting rain on and off all week on the GC so maybe not...
  20. WTF is Waner Bros and why do you keep saying that????? Clearly you are still in primary school, and maybe you watch HB, which is great that someone is, but i guarantee you not many kids these days are begging their parents to get foxtel so they can watch 'Boomerang' and 1980/90s cartoon repeats. HB as a licence, is not relevant - no matter which way you look at it. Not today, and not in the last 5-10 years really. It's classic, it was great, but not relevant. They just removed Lethal Weapon's themeing as the movie was no longer relevant and 'out of date' with the target market, and you're saying they should put in HB?? Hmm... what would get the kiddies more interested... Bugs Bunny or Captain Caveman? What planet are you from?
  21. Dont really agree, as you have mentioned, everyone knows Joker. Harley Quinn is quite well known as the Jokers offsider, is heavily featured in the games and anyone who went to Fright Nights would see the relevance to her character with Arkham. Bane is very well known, he was terribly portrayed in Batman & Robin and will be even more relevant once the Dark Knight Rises comes out. The only one that people may not be aware of is Killer Croc as he has not appeared in a movie previously - so unless you have played Arkham Asylum, you probably wouldnt be familiar with him. Who knows what form these 'inmates' will play. They may just be in statue form (like the characters in the green lantern queue), and as Killer Croc would make for a very menacing 'villian' given he is 11ft tall and weighs 580 pounds (so says his character ID in Arkham Asylum) he would be a great choice.
  22. WTF dude? Firstly, learn to spell?? What the hell is Whonderland? There isnt a silent H after every word starting with W. Waner Bros?? Secondly, HB at Wonderland worked well because HB cartoons were still on TV! Ask anyone under the age of 15 who Snagglepuss, Dino or TopCat are and they would have no clue! Most would only know of Fred Flintstone because he is a pop culture reference and Yogi because they made a terrible live action/CGI film a couple years ago. Just because you own a property doesnt mean it will work in todays market, and owning a property in cinematic form does not mean you own the rights and licences to develop rides and amusements for it.
