Disney CEO Bob Iger steps down, replaced by Bob Chapek
Brad2912 replied to cheski's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The changes continue at Disney with the announcement this morning that free fast-passes are no more (quiet sad really) and the Disney forums are blowing up about it. fast pass, max pass etc are all gone and replaced with a per day Lightning Lane pass which covers the majority of the previous fast pass rides at $20pp per day for DL and $15 for WDW. Radiator springs won’t be included and will be an additional single entry fast access flexible price based upon demand etc as will the seven dwarfs ride. -
From my recollection it went the opposite way. Wonderland began as a weekend only attraction before expanding to 7 day operation which it carried through until closure.

Just because you think “they should be able to do it” doesn’t just mean they can because you said so. That’s not reality. My argument isn’t moot, it’s providing reasons why a cost benefit decision has determined the steam engine isn’t viable.
-
I don’t think @red dragin said he supported not running the Perry, was just explaining the reality of the situation. As for other theme parks and how they handle steam engines, well I can’t answer that as I don’t have a like for like comparison park…. if you can find another theme park with an operational steam train - that’s located on an island nation, a minimum 6-8 hour flight away for international tourists, has been devoid of said international tourists (and domestic ones) for a large part of 2 years, coupled with having only just begun to recover from killing 4 people through malpractices leading to low consumer confidence and resulting attendance, and then throw in owners who are notoriously tight-assed - then we can probably do a case study on how they can make it work when DW can’t/won’t…

Smokers corner? -
Dreamworld have had scan you own photo kiosks for at least 12 months. you use your photo pass, or if you’ve got an annual pass in the last couple of months the photo pass QR code is on your pass (or scan digital from your Phone) all annual passes include photo pass. kiosks are in the dreamworks cargo store (EFM), mick doohan store (MDMC) surf store (green room & Hydrocoaster) and the photo shop (buzzsaw). Haven’t seen it as haven’t ridden but imagine there is one for Gold Coaster in the store too

Is it a one pass, or a membership?

Haha true! I was certain we were gonna be in for a longer stint in lockdown. one time where I’m very happy to be proven wrong

I just think they’re savings $$. They know it will be really quiet so it’s not worth the operational costs to open the gate. Probably have data from the first couple of days attendance and revenue post-lockdown last time around, and a cost/benefit analysis shows opening just isn’t worth it -

Interesting decision -
I think he’s just including the meerkats as part of what has been delivered and is to come.

Lockdown over. Parks open again from tomorrow with masks as per prior to lockdown -
Not relevant to marriages, but some of the “horses” from the wonderland carousel have popped up online for purchase.

Better chance of MW buying BS to replace AA than anyone riding BS again at DW…

EKKA cancelled. have to feel for all the showmen/women and their families. I was up at the show grounds last week for work and there were hundreds setting up getting ready, setting up stands and rides. the expense of time and travel already upon them and now with no income
