  1. Whatever it is, it doesn’t work.
  2. If you’re putting campaigns onto billboards interstate, bus shelters, train stations (all of which I saw last week in Sydney) you need a date. “Rising soon” doesn’t inspire anyone to book, and replacing all that marketing later with a set date doubles your costs. So you name a date and aim for it
  3. That’s not how marketing works, at all. You’re talking about a timeline of months. If you waited for commissioning to start that process you’d be opening months before you even have marketing activity in the public arena which when heading into the holiday season just isn’t possible. You name a date and do all you can to make it.
  4. I wouldn’t haven’t lined up for hours on opening weekend or opening week. The same people lining up today, would have been the same people lining up in the “technical rehearsal” and would have had the exact same complaints and annoyance and frustration. Having a A-frame with “technical rehearsal” on it that 99% of people wouldn’t have read or even understood would have changed nothing
  5. If you bought flights for a one day trip interstate solely to ride a coaster that is in the first few days of operation, you’re either too rich or a moron. if I see a billboard saying “Hamilton now showing in Melbourne” I don’t book flights on the assumption when I get there that tickets will be available for any date I choose to fly down. The advertisement is to peak interest and trigger you to look further into whatever is being advertised. By your account KFC billboards around the country should be pulled down at 10pm each night when the store closes incase someone shows up at 2am only to find the store closed when they wanted a zinger burger And how do you expect them to do this? As others have said it’s either open or it isn’t. Rehearsals happened with staff days ago. Some issues have arisen in opening days as cycles have increased, again it happens with new rides. Be disappointed if you line up and don’t get a go, but anyone being “pissed off” needs some perspective in life
  6. Typically they just ran it anyway when half the tech was not working. If things are broken I’d rather it not run tbh…
  7. Was some crazy wind gusts yesterday. I wouldn’t want to be up there if they were to continue today
  8. It’s been incredibly successful. I think the name change is to reflect a greater level of partnership between the 2. We already know the wave swinger will operate at the markets, and the schnitzel outlet has been operating during it, as does the Lego store.
  9. Tbh that’s EXACTLY the kind of persuasive motivation I would have used on my son when he was younger
  10. no such thing as a code for cheaper prices, aside from i think you get $5-$10 off by purchasing online. VTP did away with scoopon deals about 18 months ago.
  11. I don’t believe it was voted the worst rollercoaster as that wasn’t the question being polled. It just received the least amount of votes in the “best rollercoaster” poll. whether you want to interpret that as it therefore being the worst is up to you.
  12. Tbh I think a modern toddler has more interest in BiP and Wiggles than Shrek, properties which remain relevant rather than being stooped in their parents nostalgia. Dronkeys is being rethemed to Big Red Plane, and I’m sure the Carosel will get some ABC characters
  13. The end date given is the final day of closure
  14. Yeah that’s been at a different height each night this week as they work. Looks quite interesting from far away
  15. Think you’ll find the ladder is only there for the refurb…
  16. I’m actually quite surprised it’s only rated as “mild thrill level” on the ride listing. that puts it on the same level as the Banana Boogie and the Carousel, and a level below Ninja Flyers in thrills which is rated “moderate thrill” I mean it it’s less thrilling than a slow spinning ride with bike pedals, I wouldn’t be expecting much.
  17. With the large scope of works and construction timeframes we’ve seen for recent rides, you’d imagine ABC kids world will need to close for ride relocation/clearing within 6 months to hit a Dec 2024 opening. possibly Easter holidays
  18. Disagree with that. The wildlife area is a drawcard for families with children, and international tourists. It also provides a decent crowd draw away from rides, as well as offering a bigger area to disperse people over.
  19. One 20min live show and 4 x 10min meet & greets a day won’t be that difficult to replace. there will not doubt be a Belinda & Kenny live show of sorts, as well as meet & greets
  20. They’ll stand in the “reserved” seating area no doubt, and likely just be a paid staff member (not a handler) giving a 5min spiel on tiger facts and conservation “tigers are the largest big cats, they are endangered, there’s a box over there for cash donations”. Give it 12 months and it will be “an audio presentation occurs every hour at tiger island” and what was a unique and memorable experience will be replaced by a $500 Bose speaker with a loop track
  21. If the train will navigate the entirety of the track forward or backward on a rotational basis, then it makes the show scenes you’d think far more tricky and costly as every second ride everyone is facing the opposite way.
  22. Just found this in the GCB article: One of the biggest changes coming for the park will be on its renowned Tiger Island, where direct contact between tigers and handlers is set to be phased out within 18 months as public amid shifting public sentiment around performing animals. Despite the change, Dreamworld said Tiger Island would remain a fixture at the park, with guests still able to view them, and that it would continue to support tiger conservation projects in the field via Wildcats Conservation Alliance. Doesn't fly for me. You're either all in or all out. The tigers got enrichment interacting with the handlers on the island, they've been raised with it and accustomed to it. Without handlers on the island, i also believe it limits the amount of tigers that can be on the island at once as there is no-one to "manage" the behaviours or immediately react if the tigers decide to go at it. So the tiger island we used to see with 4-5-6 tigers out with 2-3 handlers will now become what i saw on Saturday which was 2 tigers out, no handlers, and therefore no people taking any notice.
