  1. It will all come down to the theming and elements they put in and around the rides. we’ve all learnt that artistic impressions are not necessarily (and rarely in-fact) a reflection of the final product. i think the generic layouts pulled from vekoma’s website however are positive and adding 3 more family attractions, and being coasters I think that’s a massive positive. Being able to offer 5 family coasters, on top of WWF and JL gives MW a big jump on rival parks for the families with 7-12 yo kids/young teen market
  2. Hasn’t been posted onto Parkz. Won’t be posting it unless someone rules it’s not open slather to post anything you want - but that generally isn’t the case
  3. It won’t be inverting… Well now that someone has decided to leak the info.. does that mean we can post the actual details? Tbh I didn’t think this kind of post would be approved without an official announcement
  4. Using the estimated capacities and track lengths that were mentioned in the town hall - you can work out the exact models straight from vekoma’s website as the model specs were just copied
  5. Photos are checked, and on the handheld scanner it shows whether an adult or child ticket
  6. I’d argue TOT was far more iconic than GD and they were happy to let that go. Whilst I don’t think it’ll happen short term, the minute upkeep outweighs perceived or real benefit, GD will go.
  7. Looks fantastic. Hope it is a long term (min 12 months) addition
  8. Not really comparing apples to apples though. DCR didn’t launch in a covid arena with highly impacted domestic travel, community trepidation with crowds, and mandates stopping many families and/or groups of people from attending. The La Niña weather pattern doesn’t help planning a day out with certainty either at the moment
  9. They have certainly had their management and logistical issues (especially kitchen related) since opening. My company used to run a weekly entertainment program at the venue, it was making them an absolute shit tonne of revenue and profit every week at a generally off-peak time. It ended up growing beyond what they could accommodate with their kitchen, so instead of making it a ticketed style event or limiting numbers on a first come first served basis, they just said "well thats all too difficult to manage and we dont want to disappoint people" so they axed it all together - thus disappointing everyone rather than just some people, and costing themselves a weekly cash cow.
  10. Ardent Leisure, owner of Dreamworld has dumped its $75m plans for a new hotel, tourist park Dreamworld has dumped its plans for a $75m resort project after a breakdown in negotiations with the developer. Parents company Ardent Leisure announced its plans for a new hotel and tourist park, Dreamworld Resort, in May. The project was to be funded and developed by Gold Coast Airport Hotel developer Evolution Group on part of the surplus land owned by Ardent next to the Dreamworld park. The accommodation offering was to include a 4-star 250 room resort-style hotel, 40 bungalows and a 5-star tourist park with 100 powered sites. In an announcement to the ASX on Tuesday, Ardent said those plans were off the table. “Since notifying the market earlier this year that a non-binding agreement had been entered into with developer Evolution Group to develop a resort style hotel and tourist park adjacent to Dreamworld the parties and their advisers have been engaged in negotiations, however they have been unable to reach agreement on key aspects of the proposal,” the statement said. “As a consequence, the Company has ceased these non-binding negotiations.” Ardent, which launched its $30m Steel Taipan roller coaster at Dreamworld just last week, said it remained committed “to exploring an on-site tourist accommodation offering at Dreamworld”. “(The board) will now focus its attention on progressing the other available options, as well as continuing to explore opportunities to maximise the Group’s total surplus land holdings adjacent to the park,” the statement said. “The company is optimistic that, with the Queensland border now re-open, the theme park business will benefit from increased visitation off the back of pent-up demand.” https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/business/gold-coast-business/ardent-leisure-owner-of-dreamworld-has-dumped-its-75m-plans-for-a-new-hotel-tourist-park/news-story/f1f07f6274dfea8245ceadaef9146073
  11. Moderator. Such an impersonal name - can we call you Sven?
  12. Couldn’t think of anything worse to do in the heat of summer, and all for a elevated view of a carpark and motorway. if the stairs are anything like the ride at the moment, every second one is probably broken anyway….
  13. At least they could get some ongoing marketing/naming rights royalties out of it
  14. Have Disney completely demolished a 30+ year old attraction and then built a replacement attraction that’s a different ride style altogether and given it the same name/theme as what replaced it? dreamworld isn’t re-theming or rebranding an existing ride - RHLR is gone. It’s building a brand new attraction and as such, it should have a brand new theme.
  15. Wedgie has only been operating the last hour or two of the day and green room closes when this happens. No split queues
  16. Agree. All staff should be wearing this
  17. Good to hear it opened eventually. We hit scooby after the buffet, was about a 20min wait
  18. DCR has jus reopened after being down for about 90mins too Scooby re-opened about 30mins ago
  19. Sold out night both scooby and Road runner are down due to technical issues. without WWF basically means no family crowd pullers other than JL. yikes.
  20. In the WC video put up by Jaggs Journey he said it’s opening Boxing Day. Not sure if that’s an opinion or fact
  21. Movieworld called, they want their superhero back…
  22. I’ll do it once, and possibly again in the future if mates are holidaying and want to give it a go - same as what I have done with DCR backwards seats
  23. Pepsi would be very unhappy you’ve called Sunkist by that name…
  24. Glad you got that off your chest. Appreciate your opinion. I disagree with quite a lot of it, but don’t have the energy or the inclination to retort it. We’ve both had our say on our thoughts - they are clearly gulfs apart - and that’s fine. unless it’s related to mandates impacting specifically theme parks, I’m out of this. Mic drop away all you like.
  25. Just realised I don’t want to spend my time on this forum arguing. No one is going to change another persons mind (nor is it or was it my intention to). i’m happy to make a comment here and there regarding specifics of mandates on the parks and impact etc - but just don’t have the appetite of a back and forth on the covid issue en masse.
