  1. Makes the old Memberships more valuable, despite seemingly missing out on some promos and in park discounts compared to One Pass… $144 a year including fright nights tickets (when it’s on) is a steal
  2. Gold Wally looks worse in person imo… I thought it looks super tacky a few weeks ago at Spooky Nights. Some gold highlights (maybe his hat or something) would have been much better
  3. I thought it was really well done My only explanation for @Itried’s comments would be if they were expecting Vivid Sydney or Riverfire level productions
  4. A seatbelt doesn’t fray overnight, it’s a long gradual process - over months and years. I personally don’t think the park would be waiting until the “oh this is so frayed it no longer works” stage to replace it, detailed inspections would take place and replacements installed during annual maintenance
  5. Good to see Triple Vortex open again today, been a long while.
  6. If only they had the foresight to do this last weekend…. But at least they are fixing the issue now rather than just letting it fester for the remainder of this season
  7. From reports the raft was under-inflated so the buoyancy was below prescribed. The tyre then was caught/flipped over on part of the rapids mechanisms.
  8. Nope just people at a couple of the pedestrian crossings
  9. Bus parking bays are all closed for site offices for ST and with BS coming down at some point soon they’ll be there still for quite some time. bus stop is currently outside WWW entry
  10. I was next to the TX7, it took them the same 40mins from Coomera station to dreamworld. An Uber wouldn’t get you their any quicker. If the park had advised guests they had sold far more tickets than they ever had previously people may have made other arrangements. at the end of the day their communication was horrendous and it upset/put off many people who may not be pass holders. I’m not overly fussed I didn’t get on a single ride, I can go back any day I want. But if I was a first time visitor to the park who paid for tickets for a family, I’d be pissed. even more so by them walking the near 1km long entry line trying to upsell a way to skip the queue for $89 a pop
  11. You mean like how every other event in their history has been run? I’ve attended every night event they’ve run for the last 15 years and they’ve never sold more tickets than their carpark holds. the example of stadiums is stupid given stadiums hold in excess of 50,000 people often, and the majority of stadiums do not even have carpark but are located in public transport routes. It is 100% dreamworlds fault the capacity they set vs their ability to cater for that amount of people Are you really comparing the two? Come on mate.
  12. The launch is just fine, it’s the design of the track the eats the momentum up too quickly. No doubt that 3/4 of the ride is uneventful. It’s still very popular, but more so as a family ride and a “step up” launch coaster for younger kids. It’s not what it should or could have been, but it has its place
  13. What improvements would you be expecting?
  14. Would you expect that if you got there 1 hour later than opening (perhaps to avoid the rush) that it would still take you more than 30 min to get inside? How does one plan that they are going to oversell tickets to the point that hundreds of people literally cannot get a carpark for the event?
  15. I live approx 5-7 mins from dreamworld depending on if you cop red lights all the way. I left my house at 5pm, expecting extra traffic like other night events previously, but still giving myself plenty of time to be parked and at the very least lined up at 5:30. At 5:05pm the traffic was already backed up to Coomera train station along foxwell rd. it then took 45 mins from the train station to the lights (circled yellow) due to the amount of traffic getting off the highway to enter dreamworld. I got to the entrance of the carpark at 6.05, and then it was chaos trying to merge, find parks etc
  16. FWIW… if you took the Mystery Manor away from Happy Halloween & the monster mayhem laser show away from spooky nights - the events are largely identical. both of those unique selling points are great and “make” the evening. based on 2021 only, I give the win to Spooky Nights simply because they managed capacity far greater and entry was seamless
  17. For anyone interested, the red line was the queue line at 6:20pm when we were finally able to get a carpark (after a 40min drive from Coomera Westfield 😡) the arrow is where the queue started we didn’t even try to do any rides. we got into the park just after 7pm. we managed to the 4 trick or treat stations, the spider trail add-on, have a bite to eat, and do the mystery manor. It was then 9pm and time to go. we wanted to do the vintage car spooky ride but the line was almost the whole way back to the bilby house. Whilst it was nice having corroboree open, there was little to no lighting in walkways and especially the area from the woodshed to billabong was just chaos as the line for trick or treat snaked down it, stopping people wanting to just transverse that way to enter corroboree from getting through. I will give them big credit though in Mystery Manor. I was expecting something lame and throw together crowd filler - it’s was very wel presented, multiple themed rooms and areas, and was on par with many of the mazes MW put together (minus the scares). I wouldn’t mind them expending on the idea and even having a proper scary maze next year within the exhibition centre for those wanting to give it a go.
  18. No that was the line. No entry via WWW Someone has royally fucked up logistical here. this crowd makes fright nights at MW look like an off peak day at dreamworld
  19. We just got in. There is literally not a single car park left and lines still down the road to get in.
  20. Nothing happy about the lines to enter the carpark and the park. 40mins from the Coomera exit to get to the park, and the line to get in starts from dreamworld, goes down to the far edge of WWW at the far side of the carpark, then turns back and the whole way back to dreamworld. definitely oversold capacity. At current queue movement I think we may make it in by around 7:30 And they have the hide to send staff down the queue line asking if people want to pay $89 for a “pumpkin pass” which will let them go straight to the front of the entry queue
  21. Or possibly upon being incorrectly/falsely told that the ride was already registered that year, which in itself involves audits and checks, that their own audit was not as thorough as it should/could have been had they been aware of all the facts. Two wrongs don’t make a right but it wouldn’t be the first time someone has half-assed a job believing the previous person did sufficient groundwork to comply.
  22. Dreamworld’s owners have taken legal action against the engineer who certified the Thunder River Rapids ride as safe just a day before the disaster which claimed the lives of four tourists. Ardent Leisure, which owns the Gold Coast theme park, has blamed engineer Tom Polley for the October 2016 tragedy and the fact it had to pay staff more than $5m in compensation, according to court documents. The company has launched Supreme Court action against Mr Polley and his company Danski Pty Ltd, seeking damages for negligence and breach of contract. The claim reveals 15 affected Dreamworld staff received payouts of between $110,000 and $700,000 each. Mr Polley and Danski are defending the claim, alleging Ardent had “consistently failed to carry out its obligations under the Workplace Health and Safety Act” and was itself responsible for the disaster. In its claim, Ardent says Danski was contracted in August 2016 to give the ride its annual inspection for Workplace Health and Safety registration. Court documents allege that on October 24, 2016 – a day before the fatal accident – Mr Polley provided a certificate stating that the Thunder River Rapids ride was “mechanically and structurally safe” provided one fault was fixed. But the following day, a pump on the ride failed, the water level plunged and two rafts collided – one of them flipping and tipping patrons onto the conveyor belt. Canberra tourists Kate Goodchild, her brother Luke, his partner Roozbeh Araghi and NSW woman Cindy Low died in the tragedy. Ardent claims that Mr Polley provided an inspection certificate stating that the Thunder River Rapids ride was mechanically and structurally safe to operate “when it was not”. The claim alleges that the engineer failed to identify safety issues including the absence of a water level detection system that would see the conveyor automatically shut down in the event of a pump failure. In their defence, Danski and Mr Polley state that Ardent had pleaded guilty to breaching the Workplace Health and Safety Act by failing to provide and maintain safe plant, safe systems of work and staff training. Danski and Mr Polley said they were told by Dreamworld in August 2016 the inspection was needed to maintain registration “when in fact the Thunder River Rapids ride was not registered at all” between about January 2016 and January 2017. The Board of Professional Engineers has been asked to hand over all records relating to Mr Polley since 2013 as part of the legal action. In inquest findings handed down last year, Coroner James McDougall recommended that Mr Polley be referred to the Board. Ardent was fined $3.6m last year for Workplace Health and Safety breaches. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/queensland/dreamworld-suing-engineer-who-certified-fatal-ride/news-story/98d322959eb0763935db412810198b6e?fbclid=IwAR3ElgP6N2kSvK032AUfi2iRw3FHA60QkFwVb5fKa-Fsu7VA6paUZA7K7Uo IMO… this is the worst possible time for DW to be back in the media reminding people about TRRR and 4 park guests being killed. They are about to launch their “silver bullet” attraction that’s hoped to reinvigorate and restore the parks status, and for that to be successful they really need a clear run of negativity in the lead up. I don’t think trying to recoup $5m in losses, or attempting to pass the buck to someone else (especially when the investigation was so damning in long term failures across the board) is worth the potential damage that getting their game back on the media cycle in a negative way may cause. its also just over a week away from the 5th anniversary, and the timing for me is little insensitive in that regard. I also truly hope that they don’t use the anniversary as an opportunity to promote/reveal the memorial garden. That isn’t something that should be given fanfare. It should just quietly open and be accessible, it isn’t an attraction
  23. Just a promo for DC Fandome this weekend, and the Justice League display at Madam Taussads in Sydney
