Although I've never been to any of those parks in America, I know what they are like and what they have to offer. Me personally being a huge roller coaster fan, and having already been to Disneyland in Paris numerous times, I would visit Universal Studios and SFMM. The way I see it is this [*]The park mostly based on theming and actual park go-er experience and not on thrills - Disneyland [*]The park inbetween these two, which is much like MovieWorld, just more theming and better rides - Universal [*]The park mainly focusing on thrill rides and the coasters themselves, not much theming - Six Flags Magic Mountain

1. This site is called Parkz because it is about theme parks. 2. Notice I said "Or you could care about coasters in general... Like MOST people on this forum.". I didn't say it's ONLY the coasters people care about. I don't think I am wrong when I say most people on this forum for some part care about the coasters and that is why they are getting annoyed with the theme parks (I agree with Joz by the way, we need to stop complaining). Although if you make a poll and people answer that most of them agree and think that the older MW with less rides etc etc (what you think) is better than more roller coasters, I will happily apologise.

Or you could care about coasters in general... Like most people on this forum.

Yeah I agree, I think they would of announced it a while ago... To me it just seems as if they have some nice fancy looking headrests, which could be speakers but aren't because it'd be likely they'd have advertised it by now. That's a shame.

Sorry Strop I was meant to write that I went on Saturday! Woops... Don't know why I wrote yesterday when I went on Saturday.

Went to Dreamworld on Saturday. Interesting: Was stuck on Buzzsaw for about 20 minutes, I was sitting in the front row on the right seat and when we returned to the station my lap bar wouldn't come up. At first I thought to myself it might just be because I'm new to Maurer Sohne and that I didn't understand how to work this thing... In the end it just wouldn't open. The ride attendants tried several times to release it and it wouldn't work. In the end they called an engineer and he used a key and pulled a handle (?) under the seat and it unlocked. Overall I was stuck for about 20 minutes. The ride attendant said it had happened before but very rarely. Odd... I hope they sort out some of these teething problems soon. Boring: I am the 50th person to present my view. It really is a one tricky pony, but a unique ride experience at that. I enjoyed it very much, although I agree two cycles would have been much better. The best park is hanging upside down 40m in the air with just a lap bar, very unique. Other than that I can't say much else for the ride other than the queue line shed gets HOT and HUMID. They certainly need more fans...

Waited 2 hours for the opening of Blue Fire So worth it.

Has anyone here been on an El Loco before? I'm thinking a mash of Crazy Mouse + Eurofighter? Has anyone here been on an El Loco? I can't imagine the ride experience, I'm thinking Crazy Mouse mashed with Eurofighter?

By looking at these photos, is it possible to confirm we are getting a larger model of the El Loco? I really don't know much about them, I'm more of a "mainstream" coaster nerd.

I haven't posted in a while as I've been on a skiing holiday. There hasn't been much mention of the overcrowding of last year... I really hope it doesn't happen again! Do you guys think that now because VIP pass holders are only guaranteed one entry into Fright Nights the overcrowding will be dealt with? Also is anyone going this Saturday night? I will be heading up there on October 8th and will take some pics and do a minor report, but if someone is already planning on doing this at the first event then I won't bother.

I hope that Dreamworld actually employs this story line and a high level of theming as they are making it look like... I know this is all just speculation because we have no idea whether they will theme it to a high degree, but if they continue with this level of storyline and theming and do something Eureka Mine Ride like, then I think it'll just go to show how theming can make an average ride into a great ride. I guess we will just have to wait and see

I think we've long established that themeparkgc, sadly, but the point I was asking is that if they WERE to do it, wouldn't there be a significant profit involved?

This might sound dumb, and I don't know THAT much about business' and whatnot, but would it at all be a profitable idea for someone like Cedar Fair or Six Flags to build a park on the Gold Coast and essentially "steal the market" from the other parks? I certainly know that if one of those companies built a bigger and better park here on the Gold Coast my VIP pass would be out the window. I can just imagine the amount of people going only to this "new" park and deserting the older ones. Again I'm not very business savvy and my conception of this might be completely wrong. Is there any possible way of this happening?

Could not agree more djrappa, you are very right in saying that if the parks are seeing some of their best attendance levels and that they are pulling it in with the attractions they have now (low cost high profit) then why change? I do think that the attendance figures would be slightly boosted because of the introduction of the VIP passes and stuff.

I understand the aussie market has changed, but with Australia expanding along with the Gold Coast in terms of tourism etc etc (I'm talking the last 15 years, I know the recession + natural disasters have affected Aus in recent years) then shouldn't our theme parks be getting bigger and better too? In America they are... In Europe they are... In Asia they DEFINiTELY are... Why not Australia? Why is the Aussie theme park market going down hill and making cheaper and smaller rides rather than bigger and better like our tourism. I think it's not so much the aussie market that's changed, but it's the way the parks are being managed and this is leading most of us to believe it's just "the market". Anyway that's just my 5 cents

So not much different to what the title says, the word going around is that Noel Dempsey has resigned today from his post effective 31st of July. I assume Dreamworld will be releasing a statement in accordance with this news sometime this week? I'm confused.... :S Edit: Can't figure out how to edit the title, but yes I can see my spelling error!!! If one of the mods could change it that would be nice

I'm another one of the group who was excited until Gazzas post, good spot though! Yeah as someone else said did you notice any other footings? Also, to me this is more and more looking like a parking lot coaster I mean it's not built on ANY gold-miny terrain, the supports are brown but the track red (?) it's built on a parking lot! Are we going to see another Cyclone and have a pretty cool themed station then just nothing? God I hope they do something good with the theming although I doubt it, with the budget/time constraints and all... Any ideas on how the story line/theme/location will be built in the the whole Eureka theme?
