Dreamworld Summer Surprise December 2011
Linus1995 replied to Linus1995's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Haha yeah that kind of came out wrong, what I was trying to say is that for us enthusiasts seeing the mine ride re-open would be "OMFG YAY!!!!" and for the GP it'd be more "Oh okay, wonder why it was closed..." and Dreamworld are advertising this to the GP as the biggest surprise yet, for us enthusiasts the mine ride re-opening would easily be the biggest surprise but for the GP I think they'll see the new roller coaster as something bigger than a ride just "re-opening". -
Hey guys was just checking out the website and there seems to be Dreamworlds biggest announcement yet that is a "Summer Surprise" opening December. http://www.dreamworl...Entry-Pass.aspx What do you guys think it could be? Personally I'm hoping for Eureka Mine Ride re-opening but I don't think the GP would see it as a "summer surprise" more so just a ride re-opening. Hopefully another new roller coaster but I'm not getting my hopes up, maybe it has something to do with Nicks recent contract termination which could be why we haven't heard of this summer surprise earlier? Post your thoughts on what you think!! If this post should be merged with another thread please do so!

Thank god that theming is unisex!
-
When have Australians ever been organised?
-
My god, I hope so....
-
Gazza?
-
You mean paint the ride sign? It would be way too "expensive" and not near "cost efficient" enough to paint the ride and its supports as it would need a repaint every few years...
-
Come on dj, not another one of those "I know what you don't know" posts!!! I thought you'd be better than that.... ^Sarcasm

Yeah I noticed that the site has been down a bit, but it's no problem... When going through a change this big you have to expect things to go wrong etc etc! I just wanted to say we do appreciate the work you guys put into making this site come together and work it's not like this is a paid service or anything, so thanks for all the work you do! It definitely doesn't go unnoticed...

The Bat store has now been fenced off and closed, the new location, which will not be permanent, has been moved next to the Roxy Theatre. I'm thinking this could be linked with the "dirt patch" construction happening outside...?
-
I think you raise a really good point in that if Dreamworld were going to add anything major and huge this would of been the year to do it. I think our hopes for, atleast Dreamworld, getting a major full circuit coaster such as a B&M or Mega-lite should be put to rest. I of course would rather the extended version of the X-Car coaster, but I can completely understand why they wouldn't go for it. I think for now like you said GoGoBoy, we should look to Movieworld for the next biggest and best. Although I do not think strategically this is a bad move for Dreamworld, the X-Car coaster is an amazing gimmick with the vertical lift hill etc etc, and from the GP point of view it would be fascinating. So props to Dreamworld for picking a cost effective roller coaster which is "record breaking". For what they wanted to achieve with this roller coaster, I'm reluctant to say I think they did the right thing.

I'm willing to bet $20 it'll be the basic model with two inversions... Any takers?
-
Any idea what it could be!?
-
No Gazza I got confused as to whether they were actually building something on the land area of the car park or just closing it off while construction was happening next to it for the roller coaster! I get what it is now though.. Sorry for the confusion
-
pin142, so they are not actually using the car park for this roller coaster but more so just extending the parks "internal boundaries" for it?
-
Thanks for the great photos! I really hope this September rollercoaster makes use of the space they are using... It's also good that it's in plain sight of the carpark, meaning our friends that live 5 mins away won't even have to enter the park for a construction update! If they have already fenced it off, I believe they are now waiting for the track to arrive and then construction will begin, am I correct? If that's the case, when do you believe we will start seeing construction?
-
Fair enough, I guess it'll take however long these refurbishments needs it to take. Sorry for the confusion
-
Sorry Dj I knew it wasn't permanent but I didn't make that clear in my post! My bad, do you know how long this exit will be temporary for though?
-
By the looks of the menacing skull entrance outside of TOT, I think its safe to safe TOT is a male MickeyD. Seriously, I completely agree. Did you know they are refurbing the entrance for LW right now? The new entrance is now the exit...
-
I'm not sure if on the approval they have to make the type of coaster public? Just that it is a rollercoaster
-
Same here djrappa, and I agree too I do think MW are secretly conjuring up something. I think at first they will replace the LTRR with something, and then after that I think they will build something larger scale or a bigger roller coaster. I guess we'll have to wait and see

The only way this Disk O could possibly impress me, is if it was indoors and themed. Although in saying that, I have never ridden a mega, what is that supposedly like?
-
If that is seriously it then... Like, I'm not saying that because I'm a thrill junkie and I want an "insane" junior attraction but come on Dreamworld! Firstly, installing the same attraction as a park 2 hours away and ALSO something as small and I guess pointless as that, I don't see why... These two new attractions are meant to be an investment to strengthen attendance etc etc but I can't imagine ANYONE making a return visit or visiting Dreamworld instead of Movie World because of this. If that really is the case, then I think the money would have been better spent on the thrill ride alone, something which I'm sure will increase attendance and if successful draw people away from Movie World and into DW.
-
Where/how/from who did you get this information from? How do you know it's Gold Rush themed? That's good news though!!
-
Remember these roller coaster plans could well and truly be finalised by now ash.111, because those 5 plans were seen back in January, so I think there's been enough time to finalise according to what djrappa said about how fluid plans can be for a theme park. Although I'm not an expert and could easily be wrong
