DC Rivals HyperCoaster train stuck mid-course

Imagine if the loop wasn’t engineered for a static load …. And they had to stop because it started creaking. 🤔 -

Did rival's get a pull through in the testing phase? -
It's surprising that they bought off the shelf TV's to put in scoobie but can't even keep them going? If it was a complex set of projectors or LED walls with finiky processors - I'd get it... but bloody kogan TV's?

We do know that it was really windy that day. It didn’t make it through the course because it was really windy *and* empty. Yes that is an assumption but a very calculated one. It’s still there because they apparently chose to try a pull though - probably the most complex of the options - using multiple cranes, cables and pullies - then just hoping the numbers are right that it will make it around… empty… from a standing start. We don’t know the lines or communication but what I have pointed out is similar issues have been solved in days - not weeks by simply picking the train up, putting it on a truck and rebuilding it again on the maintenance track.. or maybe even the holding brake ? I feel like Movie World may be looking at other options now like potentially borrowing the launch track from Tiapan to rock launch it back to the station. -

They (hopefully) regually pull trains apart for maintenance/inspections - it's not like it's something alien for them to do. The trains didn't arrive fully assembeled. -

Well they already failed at that. -

At least have them as retractable .. for windy days and empty trains! -

Are you suggesting maybe it needed kicker wheels before the loop? -

It’s just curious that Cedar Point (yes I know it’s a different manufacturer) chose to dis and reassemble the train (which is significantly heavier and larger) and they had a ride back up in two days. We’ve passed 2 weeks. The last time the ride ran we had a Queen. -

Do we know that they asked Mack for their opinion? -

I feel like this carries more logic than the current method they're attemping. I know our parks aren't anything like the bohemiths of Europe and America - but when Gatekeeper valleyed at Cedar Point in 2019 (whilst loaded) they had the stuck train off the track the next day and it reopened the day after that. If the other DCR train is operational - I'm really perplexed why they're going with a pull through attempt .. even if you can't get 2 trains running - one train is a hella lot better than one of your people eaters being closed for a school holiday period. You'd only need one crane and its heaps faster than attempting a pull through. -

It feels like they could have finished it last week with a small crane -

Hard to tell from that pic but it looks like a boom lift - not a crane. -

At the end of the day - roller coasters are all about how guests interprate the experience. Gawking over energy effiency isn't really a thing Here's a roller coaster that launches out of the station, and could roll back into the station ... no brakes. I was asked what I'd personally prefer - but you're right.. -

I feel like the official TTD acceleration time is off - ElToroRyan reckons its closer to 3.0 secs by going off the POV video where the brake for the catch car starts .. so assuming that's wrong and everything else is correct - TTD - 193km/h in 3 seconds Xcellerator - 132km/h in 2.3 seconds (37% slower top speed, 26% quicker time) MaxxForce - 125km/h in 2 seconds (42% slower top speed, 33% quicker time) Superman - 100km/h in 2 seconds (63% slower top speed, 33% quicker time) Food for thought. -

I've done both about a week apart. If TTD was a ten.. Xcelerator would be like a 5.5. I'd rather a more powerful launch. Other parks can already offer less powerful launches. GP don't care about how much power a coaster consumes. The only better alternative would be an compressed air launch.. but I'm not sure it would be physically possible (and unlikely because they'd still need the brake fins on the launch.. which they removed) -

Blue Fire was built in 2009 - Red Force was built in 2017 with exactly the same layout as TTD. 12 years of development - and the launch is still nothing compared to hydraulic TTD. -

The GP is going to be able to tell the difference between a hydraulic launch and LSM. 100% -

In my experience there's usually a "use caution" wind speed range then a "danger" wind speed limit that activates a interlock that disables the lift hill. Regardless the train didn't get stuck by its own doing - there were wind speed warnings for the whole day - and now they've got another weekend with a majority of major rides closed.. again -

They knew it was suss - unless it broke down earlier, there's no reason to run an empty train. -

Brake fins on the launch track have been removed - so I'm very confident that its going to convert to a LSM launch. -

You contradicted yourself within the same post. There's no way 45km/h winds (not gusts) are within its operating limits. Empty trains have less mass. Less mass is less potential energy. The wind takes away potential energy from the trains. A loaded train (with real people or water people) may have made it around - that's the point I'm making about the empty train been sent around.
