  1. "Tickets are onsale now" "Tickets selling fast" Which one is it? Interesting to note that they've gazumped a fair few corporate events by cancelling on them for events booked years ago. I don't see a $45 upcharge is gonna sit with the general punters that visit LPS.
  2. I had a 7 hour stop over in Doha yesterday - so it was a perfect opportunity to visit Doha Quest and check off a couple of record breaking rides. Getting there The metro in Doha is great now thanks to the world cup! Unlimited travel for one day can be purchased at any station, and will set you back $2.56 (for 24hrs of unlimited travel). Travel to Msheireb (15 mins, 5 stops) then transfer to the gold line for one stop in the Al Aziziyah direction to Bin Mahmoud - from there it's a 5 minute walk to Doha Quest. Admission will set you back around $100 AUD (heavy). You can't bring any external food or drink inside, and there's no where to keep it during your stay - they'll "donate it to charity" General vibes Feels like any well themed indoor park, broken into several different themed areas, and a seperate kids section that jutts out away from the park. EpiQ Coaster Pretty much the reason I came here - it's the worlds tallest indoor coaster, and maybe the fastest reverse launch in the world. The station has heaps of free station storage (Which is double sided for the unload station) Once dispatched you do small flat section, across the switch track and into a themed section with projection on the roof. The backwards launch takes a little section to kick in, but when it does - it really does. This is definitely a back row ride, the twisting at the top of the spike is intense, and you don't get much in the front of the train. On the way down the LSM's actually brake to make the rest of the layout (a clone of Lost Gravity) IMG_0428.mov I ended up doing this 5 times - there was no lines and the ops were happy to let me stay on / switch seats between cycles without leaving the station. Magma Blast This is probably the best themed S&S drop tower on the planet. It's themed to some sorta mission to the centre of the earth or something.. the ride at ground level is surrounded by massive LED screens - which accurately tie in with the ride system - it's a shot them drop.. the drop is from the very top of the tower. Also it is *very* hot at the top of the ride.. the air con doesn't reach that far. One and done for that I also did their flying theatre.. which was exceptional.
  3. Not sure how it impacts on rider throughput - but Tusenfryd were cycling staff every 1hr throughout the park from ride to ride.
  4. I know you guys hate comparing - but the most expensive skip queue that I can think of is Rise of the Resistance ... at Walt Disney World at $USD25 or .. $AUD38. That was just the peak though.. it's usually $AUD31.
  5. Last time I was at the park the queue for backwards (at $25 a head) was 15 trains long. At the 5 min dispatch rates; the queue for this premium add on was around 75 minutes long. I’ve said this heaps of times here but until dispatch rates of coasters (especially rivals and superman) get twice as fast … guest experience at the park will always be suffering. Even if you do pay whatever they chose to charge for the day - the painfully slow operations will still suck… just less. God forbid if they ended up getting a RMC with the trains that actually need a two pass train clearance procedure🤦‍♂️
  6. Top tip for ToT - you can actually get them to run the ride with english dialog .. just ask :)
  7. If the first RMC we get is a family coaster - that'll do me.
  8. I think the ride experience is different enough. A lot more kids will do this over the spinning pendulums.
  9. I’ve got this guys! They should just rip it down and replace it with a S&S screaming swing Could tick the mandatory “Australia’s / southern hemispheres first” something Reliable as, packs a punch, huge throughout, only needs 2 staff, will fit and only had a height limit of 1.2m
  10. I wonder if they’ve ever restarted the media server ?
  11. Am I an idiot - or is VRTP for apparently using a low fog effect in a outdoor uncontained area in really small quantities? It makes zero sense... unless the station was closed in with curtains both ends.. even then it would be so expensive they'd never keep up with it.. haze would be much better. The low fog effect on the shows such as Masked Singer/AGT/X Factor etc cost $20/minute to run.. so expensive that they don't even use them until the last rehearsal/record.
  12. This is pretty much RMC's business model. While I'm happy that the ride will exist again, the loss of the launch is a huge L. I only got to do it 5 times but it was bloody incredible - better than Formula Rossa in my mind. Acceleration > Top Speed. The previous launch was 1.48G, this one is 0.48G.. even Red Forceless will have more force. Throughput should be pretty much the same, and the twist might be better with riders sitting higher off the track.. but still a pity.
  13. Firstly it is not a CO2 effect.. CO2 is used either in jets or to cool fog to keep it low, or it can be used to create haze... which is different again. I'm pretty sure they have a smoke machine - like one you could get from Jaycar. It could definately be triggered early manually - or maybe a set time after the train gets locked. The haze isn't required by any means.. but any smoke detectors would probably be triggered by the smoke existing effect. Haze wouldn't impact visiblity - it's used on tv every single day - it just allows beams to be defined. Again none of this is important.. just a nice to have if they're gonna close it several times a year. I'd rather they get better at dispatching trains any day of the week
  14. I really unestimated the amount of door chat that I would inspire... anyway for my further 2c, I'm voting for light curtain over trap because they couold keep haze in al the time!
  15. Fully enclosed station Queue looks unprotected from the 120mph launch.. Grandstand is missing from this but apparently will stay My reaction
  16. Operator presses button to open doors Operator visually checks doors are open (departing and arrving doors open at once) Operator dispatches ride. Arriving train parks - operator presses button to close doors The trains already dispatch painfully slowly so it's not gonna impact on throughput anyway. Will probably save them money from airconditioning losses too. It was just an idea .. sorry.
