LOL they so should have - brought it out and got it to work - but made sure it was only set to drill to 10m down or whatever and not to Australia

Park most in danger of being sold + scrapped?
erikals replied to POP's topic in Theme Park Discussion
if the rides did close it would be a big pity that none of them would be saved - if SW did go the way of Wonderland and all the rides gone I'd probably buy the Sea Viper. However given that my house which is in a housing estate and has barely enough backyard space to swing a cat in is where I live, I would probably think twice before making a decision. -
Went to AW today and was quite pleased at how the new Flume Ride was coming along. Saw a test of the flume ride too with water (no cars) and rode the Redback. It's about time that place got some new rides. Rode the Bizzy Buggies again and was also wondering how long that ride's been there for at AW, where (if) it has previously existed and how old it is. My favourite part of it though is not the operator's spiel (which I can barely hear cause now he has to yell over the noise of the Redback and he doesn't use a microphone), it is the cars themselves. They're like scaled down versions of a golf cart. Still sick of the Rock N Roll Rebel being in the same place - and the game zone that is behind it is tiny as. There's only a bunch of arcade games in there including the largest one 'Haunted Museum' which sounds lame - not like 'House of the Dead' and a few Daytona USA machines and other assorted coin-op games. Funnybone Flicks is pretty neat - saw a film on girls modeling on ice and the projectionist was calling the audience perverts n stuff - pretty funny. The Voyager Simulator was 'down for maintenance' according to the sign on the entry steps. Shame. They had some good films though. And if you look at the comparison of space between the Rock N Roll Rebel and the new game zone behind it the Rock N Roll Rebel is heaps larger. It's rough as guts though and you can hardly hear the music cause of all the noise the cars make as they go around the track. Wild Mouse was fun but rough (as usual). The music on all of the rides is okay, but really needs to be better themed to the rides. For example the Octopus I heard playing a bit of Justin Bieber's 'Baby' instead of 'Octopus' Garden' and the Redback really needs to have 'Redback on the Toilet Seat' as it's theme song. The Booma Zooma wasn't too rough (although a couple of seats were missing harness chains which reduces the capacity per hour) - if you get the chance and have shoes on you can skim the top of the bush near the ride as it slows down which I think is quite fun. The signage for the Tin Lids Tea Party is faded - it needs a fresh bit of paint to make it look good although the cars appear to have been repainted recently. The ride next to it (could be the Giggle Go Round) with the train and the boat and everything needs to have better horns - they sound terrible. Food's great although the chips are a bit expensive - and for a single scoop of icecream I did get more than I was expecting for $3.50 (did not buy a double scoop to help clear things up) Rode the Stockshed Speedway 2 times and found it great although there were a few pileups with the cars Ferris wheel sounds a bit creaky - may be time for an inspection I think. All up I'd rate AW a 8/10 for everything.

true that I also had a look at the monorail driver's control panel and I was wondering - is the same panel duplicated on the other side of the monorail? Or is it slightly different? What I would also like to know is when a driver takes their foot off the deadman switch does the whole train come to a complete stop or does it slowly brake?

I went to SW some months ago and the Sea Viper has those - when the green light is lit up on the back of the car, the restraint has been lowered. Otherwise there is a red light. The old Corkscrew trains had a completely manual system. (anyone remember the small pedals on the right side of the cars - but I can't remember for the life of me whether when they were pushed down the restraints were locked or when they were up the restraints were locked). No lights there.

It could be more merchandise I would assume - but why slam the container out in the car park and have delivery guys picking up cardboard boxes, putting them on trolleys and towing them throughout the park where they're needed? At least we know the goods don't need to be refrigerated - that rules out Ben and Jerry's on Main Street. Dreamworld puts their shipping containers in the carpark in full view of everyone - and unpacks them in full view of the general public. It's like they enjoy showing off their accomplishments. It could be parts for MW's new attractions - and they just might be using a different shipping company to send them. Just my two cents. No offence intended.

under 'Interests' then 'Other' it has listed 'We all know a drug-f****d stoner called Jake' so this page appears to be a fake. Will try and Google the name of the fun park though, see what I come up with.
-
I have to agree with you. There's not much else I can say except that the Looney Tunes are part of WB and need their own attraction to play in IMHO.
-
I think it would possibly be track or parts such as a lift chain or gears to drive it - possibly even a lift motor and control box. Just guessing - cause it could be anything.
-
It certainly does, thanks for the reply. I think IMHO it's a sad waste to see these rides left to rot as is (especially Bermuda - it's a sad memory of a ride that could have been a great one with constant maintenance) or leaving the building just standing as is - it's a waste of space IMHO.
-
That's true. Will have to consider going myself and see what it's going to be like - of course the star attraction will be started up for the first time before the general public get a chance to ride - wonder if they'll have a moving sawblade or something to add to the theme - the dude being pulled towards the buzzsaw reminds me of one of my favourite darkride designers back in the 60s (Bill Tracy of America) who put together something similar called the Old Mill where a chick is being pulled into the path of a buzzsaw - has to be seen to be believed. Dreamworld should really consider building something similar - only on a much larger scale. Just my two cents.
-
yeah - dunno what DW's going to do with all the enthusiastic riders who are willing to 'stay the night' as suggested and be the first to ride. Considering the Big Brother house is still there AFAIK I can see a possible location for all the guests to sleep - and as long as the house has power/running water it should be fine.
-
That depends on if SW later decides to give the Nick characters somewhere to hang out when they're not out on parade. If they later do and SSB (Sesame Street Beach) has to go, then I'm sure most families will be disappointed with Elmo being served an eviction notice. Just my two cents on the subject.

Bermuda Triangle is officially closed... Now what?
erikals replied to reginaphalange's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I just managed to have a Capn Cook at that this morning since the internet's not been working for most of this past week for me. They might be of a different construction to MW's LTRR boats or they could be made of the same material and painted differently. Who knows. I'm thinking they might be headed to MW for a repaint - possibly to double the capacity of the LTRR (if it is being refurbed to add more guests) or maybe a brand new boat attraction. Only time will tell. -
I'm going to agree with you. MW still has the boats though, so they must be planning on doing something with/to them. The day after Bermuda closed up for good I went to SW and they had at least one ride boat as part of the theming. Now it's all boarded up. Just as a note: has the volcano been removed or is it still there?

I think they want to get the theming installed and working before the ride is open. IMHO I wouldn't want to ride through a ride without any theming. -
I'd like to see the logo too Gaz. Speaking of the Avalanche, they should really bring back the Yeti that used to stand near the operators booth and try and grab you when you went past. His arms were too short though. It could be a fill-in until Dreamworld purchases a new licence for all new characters. They should also replace Dora's Seaplanes, considering that ride started service in 1982 it's been possibly the oldest ride in Dreamworld.
-
@aussienetman you are so right about the VIP passes, MW keeps gettin bogans in every day I think 100 mil would be overspending - MW could refurb the old animatronics for a fraction of the cost of that, plus rebuild the whole ride for under that IMHO. Then again, if they decided to rip out the LTRR and spend $10 mil on another theme license (such as Ben10) they would have to repaint their fiberglass boats to Ben10 or whatever theme they bought the licence to use. That could be done under the $100 mil mark as well. Any thoughts?

The Parkz Update Movie World, May 29 2011
erikals replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
they might be putting in another ticket booth - methinks it could be for the summer -
Sounds alright to me - as long as its a family ride.
-
The queue theming is pretty good - but if MW does get a coaster like this it should be in somewhere else (like replacing Lethal Weapon) instead of Kids WB! Village - it won't fit well with the Looney Tunes theming. They've already got a coaster (Road Runner) in Kids WB! Village so I see no good reason for having two coasters in the same area. They could put a Zamperla Disko in the area themed to Looney Tunes in some way - or perhaps a Zamperla Crazy Bus to replace Marvin the Martian's Rocket ride (btw what happened to that ride? - hasn't been very clear the reasons for it being removed) or they could even have Dodgem cars in the shape of Looney Tunes characters. Just a few more ideas I'm suggesting.
-
Could be the LTRR refurb or redo - not sure as last I heard the boats were put in storage on the concrete slab used for the SAW Halloween mazes - they're probably gonna refurb it or if not, completely redo it.
-
Alright, now that's cleared up, what would you all like to see replace LTRR?
-
Glad to see we cleared that up - can you post pics as well?
-
So, let me get this straight. If MW still have all the LTRR boats in storage, they can claim the (lower) cash value of the boats against their tax payment, meaning they pay less tax? Not too clear on tax so sorry if I'm a bit unclear.
