  1. I thought similar, hence why I didn't think much of the construction site back in September. A staff member’s mentioned to me the possibility of shifting BoH areas around for a future Polar Bear Shores expansion, but when I mentioned that site to them, they didn’t know/couldn’t say what it was for. But, with the existence of a circular slab now, it definitely seems like it’s something notable. I will mention, though, at the same time I took the picture of the site in September, there was a lot of shipping crates/construction materials, most of which seemed to be for Levi maintenance, but a box labelled ‘AQUA’ & what looked to an untrained eye like mesh for oddly shaped rockwork (could very well just be wrapped up fencing/mesh, but I interpreted it’s spiked shape as intentional) piqued my interest back then, ‘til I brushed it off & forgot about it ‘til now. Probably seeing ties where they don’t exist, but could they be related?
  2. There has been some construction taking place adjacent to Leviathan recently, which I’d noticed a couple of months ago but hadn’t thought worth specifying, as at that point it was some equipment & a pile of what seemed to be gravel. According to auscoasters on Instagram, however, a circular concrete base has been poured in what’s described as ‘a rectangular plot’, which they’re theorising to possibly be for a new flat of some description (they predictably mention the possibility of a Screamin’ Swing, due to the rectangular shape of the plot). Naturally, with the location, and in what seems to be a staple of Village’s current projects, any progress can only clearly be seen from rides or satellite/birds-eye images, so, unless a current overhead photo is taken, photos clearly defining the scope of any updates at the site can’t be taken. Attached are the images taken by auscoasters… And a wider angle image I took of the site in September, before the base is said to have been poured, for perspective’s sake. The best viewing angle of the construction (without going on a ride) is the one where these photos was taken, looking back underneath the bridge, toward Leviathan, on the path to Jet Rescue.
  3. Fair, I didn’t know Gumbuya was that close to Melbourne, nor did I remember that Funfields exists (though, looking at its ride lineup, it seems to be of lesser budget to Luna Park anyway), but isn’t Adventure Park a waterpark? Anyway, I should’ve worded it better & said ‘major’ amusement park, which I’d consider to be anything that draws more than current Aussie World (e.g. Luna Park & above).
  4. Councillors will vote on a request to send an elected representative and/or the CEO and possibly officers to South-East Asia and the Middle East early next year. In the publicly-available meeting agenda, it says they would meet ‘investment teams of a live major tourism development interested in the City of Moreton Bay’. The representatives would look to ‘position the City of Moreton Bay as the best location for the tourism development’. In the report it adds: “Due to signing a non-disclosure agreement, Council is constrained from providing further details of the project and the proponent.” Moreton Daily has contacted Council for further information. But it adds the region’s tourism potential is “limited by a lack of branded short-term accommodation and commissionable product in the form of tourism experiences”. Council as a Tourism Opportunity Plan (TOP) which includes a graphic showing tourism opportunities and tourism developments in the pipeline. Six of the ‘opportunities’ are on the western side of the region, one at Redcliffe and two just north of Caboolture. Council has also identified a major shortfall in visitor accommodation saying in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic Games it needs at least eight hotels and more than 1000 hotel rooms. In August Council put two major parcels of land – by the highway turn-off to Caboolture and in the centre of North Lakes – back on the market.” Can’t wait for the Southern Hemisphere’s largest shopping mall. Seriously, though, hopefully it’s something good, but it’d be truly hilarious if Queensland gets a 4th amusement park before Sydney/Melbourne get a single non-Luna Park.
  5. Jaggs, if you’re here, it definitely isn’t an Intamin multi-launch themed to the Bunyip.
  6. naturally, the first park in australia to get a b&m would be aussie world
  7. Got the joke, but wouldn’t put it past them to make & advertise a ‘themed walk’ as an attraction, so had to make sure it wasn’t that for my own sake
  8. Seems like it’s an actual ‘attraction’, the website mentions sets & soundscapes being built on a 4000m2 site at Northshore Pavillion.
  9. Is this meaning that you’d have preferred a Dune themed dark ride over WoO, or that you’re expecting a post-WoO dark ride that’s themed to Dune? Yeah, it’s really gotta change, Mad Max tie-in or not. Hopefully with new stunts/effects, though, or at least bringing back some of the cut ones from HSD1.
  10. I think (/hope) there’s a few key reasons as to why it’s opening 2025: - They were planning on keeping it open into late 2023/2024, but issues arised & they decided to close it early. - Mack has a fabrication backlog, so the new track/trains can’t be done sooner rather than later. - They’re reversing changes made to, and updating the existing, theming as to be more in line with the expectation they’ve set with Leviathan/WoO (hopefully). - The location is adjacent to WoO’s, so it could be the case that they’re only starting Scooby after WoO. As for capacity, the trains & ride computer *should* help that immensely.
  11. Castaway Bay’s so disconnected from the main park that Sea World themselves seem to forget about its existence (made worse by the monorail’s closure, and evidenced by the noticeable rust/peeling paint all around Splash Battle), & Nickelodeon Land is barely a ‘land’, it’s a walkway to JR/Storm (or a slight diversion to Levi) with mildly SpongeBob-themed rides. That said, once whatever’s replacing the destroyed hut is built, Looney Tunes might contend, & WoO definitely will (if you put it in a similar category to Dreamland, that is).
  12. Kids still know WoO, it’s got much more staying power than Gremlins does. And, though it isn’t a massive ‘trend’ right now, I’d be rather surprised if a modern tie-in movie releasing more-or-less alongside the themed land, especially one that’s starring Ariana Grande, doesn’t change that.

  14. Did both, & pretty much. Also went on Batwing for an aerial view of the construction, and there’s some more concrete/footers poured since the recent photo, as well as a couple stockpiles of what looked to be rebar, but didn’t see any supports/track onsite as of yet. Still, it’s noticeably getting closer & closer to that point.
  15. Was working on doing that a bit ago, but I’m on mobile so it’s more scuffed than that which is above.
  16. I don’t doubt that Motocoaster or Shockwave fit the themes that they were going for when they were built, my point is that those themes don’t fit into the general aesthetic of their areas, or the park itself, anymore. I’m struggling to think of the right words, but they’re not as ‘polished’ or ‘timeless’ as Dreamworld are going for. Flyer’ll still be an inoffensive ‘classic’ themed ride in 20 years time, Taipan & SV’ll still be ‘modern/bland’ & inoffensive, Rivertown’ll still be inoffensive ‘jungle’, etc. But Shockwave & Motocoaster are showing the outdated ‘grittiness’ of their theming, and they’ll continue to do that as time goes on, unless something changes. Bear with me here, cause I really don’t know if this’ll make any sense at all, but I kinda see it as most of Dreamworld’s trying to be like a halfway decent Samsung Galaxy/Google Pixel phone. Maybe SV & ST are a newer iPhone, and Wiggles/ex-KFPL are a cheaper, budget, ‘babies first’ phone, but they’re generally just similarly inoffensive designs. Then, Motocoaster & Shockwave are more like an old Motorola w/ a sliding keyboard. Yeah, they worked when that was the norm, and there’s people who still prefer their look to that of what’s currently popular, but they’d generally be seen as outdated & in need of an upgrade.
  17. It’s not ‘nostalgic’, but it is ‘modern’ & generally inoffensive. Yes, it doesn’t fit with the section it’s facing, and the old Dreamworld Theatre facade did fit said area more. That said, it’s far from as ‘objectively horrible’ as it’s made out to be on here, especially now that it somewhat fits in with Steel Taipan, and at the very least it meshes with their updated aesthetic much more than these two do:
  18. Oh, so this is like a full-on rebrand, then. Not necessarily surprised, but it’s interesting. Don’t yet know whether I prefer this logo over the older one, admittedly the font is nicer & their clear inspiration from the park’s original logo (w/ the name placement & miniature park above the globe) are nice touches, but the non-text details being completely white is throwing me off a bit. In the case that it is a full-on rebrand, I’ll wait ‘til I see the physical sign at the entrance to judge it outright, but hopefully that iteration adds some colour back to the globe. It’s definitely more in line with the direction the park’s going now, though, opting for less ‘aggressive’ branding & more nostalgic/modern touches. The only things left to update now are Motocoaster & Shockwave, unless I’m forgetting something.
  19. 9News story featuring Big Red Boat Coaster’s trains: RPReplay_Final1699957370.mp4 Perhaps more importantly, though, what’re they on about? Someone in the newsroom was either joking or heavily misled. Next up, Jungle Rush was modelled off Orphan Rocker.
  20. If any park needs light rail connection, it’s Sea World. The TX7 bus takes 10 mins tops to get you to straight from Helensvale station to Wet & Wild/Movie World, whereas the Sea World bus pinballs between 28 stops before reaching SW (including Harbour Town) & takes 45mins on a good day w/o congestion or unfortunate traffic lights. And G:link can already get you close, it’d just need a fork up The Spit to be viable.
  21. You may be thinking about the ex-Bilby enclosure that’s now occupied by them, and the Fat-Tailed Dunnarts that are adjacent to the new Bilby enclosure. But yeah, Currumbin’s was moreso what I was thinking w/ a reptile house, though there are other similar examples (mostly outside of Australia, but, for within, a facility like the new Taronga reptile house would also be feasible).
  22. True, for the smaller indoor species, though they’ve currently got them in the aforementioned nocturnal house & Discovery Centre anyway. What I was thinking was a not completely enclosed, specialised building for larger indoor/outdoor species, like the more modern reptile houses found elsewhere in the world. If they weren’t to do reptiles, though, they’ve got decent crowd gatherers in Platypus, Echidna, Wallabies, etc. that they could potentially acquire if they wanted to. And, if done right, they could hypothetically just replace it with a ride of some kind, it’d just be harder to make it make sense.
