  1. It was just bought up because it’s track style matches that which was shown in the render released by Dreamworld, and is seemingly the same ride type as Jungle Rush (that being a Vekoma Junior Coaster). But yeah, their layouts, and their purposes in their respective parks’ lineups, will be apples & oranges.
  2. I understand that you hadn’t seen it, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist, other people hadn’t seen it (not just on TV, but shared to socials/YouTube/here), or you couldn’t see it now. You’re trying to figure out what the ride is going to be, the material they’ve put out is all you currently have to look at, which undoubtedly includes the video they gave to the news. I don’t get what your point/conundrum is now. On the brief topic of the airtime moments, though, Wandering Oaken’s has at most 4 of them in it’s layout (5 if you include the drop off the lift, but I doubt that gives any actual airtime, and isn’t applicable in a comparison to Jungle Rush for what is hopefully clear reason). Jungle Rush is, by comparison, confirmed to have 12, 3 times that of Oaken’s. So, taking that & the inclined turntable that’ll undoubtedly increase the ride’s cycle time, I highly doubt it’ll be any less than 1m30 (turntable included, brakes not). And that’s not including any of the ‘dedicated show moments’.
  3. The ‘original concept or announcement’ includes the news segment that clearly shows mine train-themed Junior coaster track. With that, the Junior coaster trains shown in drawings & testing/construction, and definitely now w/ the existence of Wandering Oakens (which utilises themed track just like that which was seen in the render), I think it’s more than likely that’s what they’re going for. If they weren’t, and were instead going for a straight up mine train, they’d likely be using an obviously different track style in the testing (‘older gen’ boxy track, see ‘Choco Chip Creek), a train from their ‘Mine Train’ ride models (not just with a noticeable train’s zero car, but 6-person carriages instead of individual rows of 2), a chain lift instead of booster wheels (again, see ‘Choco Chip Creek’), and Dreamworld wouldn’t have had to specify ‘mine-style family rollercoaster’. And, aside from all that, the traditional Vekoma Mine Train ride model focuses on turns & helixes over airtime, and wouldn’t benefit from the implementation of an inclined turntable like their Junior coasters would.
  4. But it’s layout/‘style’ is similar to that of a mine train, to some extent (I don’t know, I’m not Dreamworld, but that meaning makes the most sense to me). And the concept I’m referring to is this:
  5. I interpreted that quote moreso as it’ll be most akin to a Vekoma Mine Train, which was already somewhat known & shown in the POV clip.
  6. I’ll see if I can get a photo later (doubt it though), but I just got off Batwing & I believe footers have noticeably been poured for what I’m assuming is the family boomerangs due to their location.
  7. I get where you’re coming from, but those are different scenarios entirely. SW’s Monorail arguably needed an extensive refurb even before its ‘construction-related’ closure, but they didn’t want to pay for it, so they shut the ride down completely & used the construction as an excuse. DW Express just got out of it’s extensive refurb, and are keeping the 2 redone stations completely operational throughout construction of their ‘precinct’ (which, coincidentally, borders the 3rd, as of yet not redone station). Even in the scenario where they didn’t, however, it remains that one has had its refurb (and possibly planned it around the imminent construction), and the other used imminent construction as a means to excuse a lack of a refurb & quietly retire the ride. If any analogue was to be drawn between the 2 scenarios, there’d have to be quite a bit of negative thinking to go into making it an unfavourable one for DW Express.
  8. Iterative update: Perhaps unfortunately, the plans for the filled-in drop plot of land are becoming clear: Seemingly, it’s just going to be used as a path connection from the food court to Storm. After talking to staff, they didn’t know/couldn’t say for sure what it’ll be, but one stated that they believed grass’ll be planted. Also, something that I can’t see previously being highlighted (but if it has been, my apologies) is that trees have been planted in the area, adjacent to the path. Photos: Onto something a tad more interesting, another tidbit that I haven’t seen pointed out yet is that new wooden fencing seems to have gone up near the castle, as well as beside the ex-station for the Log Flume. The castle itself is open, and its interior seems to be mostly gutted, or being used for the construction. Don’t know if that is necessarily new, but I only noticed it today, as is the case with the fencing & planted trees. Again, apologies if any of this is rehashing already known information.
  9. They’ve discounted first-day tickets by 20% and people still aren’t buying them. When will they get the message that what they’re offering is just not worth it to most people?
  10. Going off the assumption that their previous plans haven’t changed yet, the positioning of the construction behind their slides, and the ‘flying’ prompt, it could be an Aerobat.
  11. I apologise for reposting, by the way, my internet’s been stuffing up recently & I was only able to see the previous post just now. I blame Telstra. But yeah, maybe the broken bulbs’ll be replaced before opening, and that was part of the point of testing that out now (so they could procure replacement bulbs & verify they’re all working for the ride’s open).
  12. Testing of the aforementioned lights: Snapinsta.app_video_323144718_1315503955752967_5699807768074321673_n.mp4 (Dreamworld’s Instagram)
  13. Sorry for not typing 4 extra letters, evidently I was out & attempting to type quickly, and did not know that doing so would affect you negatively. Anyway, here is a dump of photographs that I got while I was there, of various things that piqued my interest. As is the case with the prior post, I am posting here as I do not know of a better forum currently available for me to do so. Storm now has Loose Item bins in the station, did not get a photograph of them though, as the ride itself had a long wait, but it negates the need for their previous, Superman-esque system. Viking’s Revenge plot, weird to see the area so flat. Definitely seemed like the surrounding area was actively being worked on, but this is the only photograph that I took of it. Miscellaneous backstage angles I could get due to foliage being more sparse than usual: And finally, an image of the transition out of the 90° banked turn on Leviathan, as I don’t recognise there being that added bracing in the past (though there’s a high chance I’m misremembering). I’d say that transition probably has the most noticeable ‘jolt’ on the ride currently, which is why I noticed said bracing after-the-fact.
  14. Yeah ik, and before that it said it was ‘due to the construction of the New Atlantis precinct’, it’s just amusing that they still say ‘temporary’ after like 4 years of closure & clearly scrapping the hardware
  15. They may have just meant “it’s missing” as “it’d be better with”, but if it’s any consolation, the concept art that we’ve got portrays the aforementioned lights as ‘golden’.
  16. Ray Reef isn’t the only place to get a new sign, as they’ve replaced the resort/park connection sign as well. For context, it previously looked like this (except faded & falling apart): (also lol)
  17. I’d argue Forest Flyer only counts ‘til Jungle Rush opens (at which point JR becomes their major family attraction & KFF becomes supplementary), and Shockwave doesn’t count. An argument could be made, however, for Sky Voyager.
  18. If the splash it causes could comfortably fit in that section (which I don’t really think it would, though I admit that is no more than a guess), would the ride experience not just more or less be that of another drop tower?
  19. It’s better than I expected, but I still wouldn’t say it’s ‘good’, cause it’s target audience very clearly isn’t me.
  20. Then the red’d be darker too, and the tophat colours in general would slowly fade into and out of darker shades throughout its arch, instead of having the stark contrast between dark grey, vibrant red, and pure white take place with near to no change in angle. They’ve definitely just used an outdated colour scheme for that render.
  21. Other (perhaps more recent) concept art/renders has the lighter grey track colour included, I believe they’ve just done that specific render/concept art with an outdated idea for its colour scheme.
  22. Adding onto that, I’m guessing they mean that MW doesn’t need another compact mid-thrill level coaster like that which a Wild Mouse, or the ‘replacement’ Moose, would offer.
  23. If your 10 year old student can draw(/render) detailed, complete architectural mock-ups, either you’re a really good teacher or they shouldn’t be in your class anymore.
  24. and then blame it on the attendees for not purchasing enough tickets
  25. Anyone willing to fork up 5 bucks? More info soon, but only for their TikTok subscribers (From Instagram)
