It most definitely won't be stronger than any airtime moment on Steel Taipan (Back row off the midcourse on ST is as strong, if not stronger, than any single DCR airtime moment anyway). What it has, like a smaller-scale, more family-oriented Leviathan, is its amount of airtime. It could be designed with as much airtime moments/duration in the layout as Vekoma or Dreamworld want it to, so long as it remains within the G-force limits of the restraints & trains. Which, if I had to guess, would be significantly less than even Leviathans are, limiting those airtime moments to contain nothing over pure 'floater' as to not overstress those wheels.

Wizard of Oz - Movie World Arkham Asylum Replacement
Tricoart replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
King Doomsday, coming 2025. -
I'd like to see 'em use these ones. Makes sense for temporary showings, can be used to send a further message (namely species conservation, like the Tiger Island ad in SV's queue) & guarantees future new movies if they wish to continue down that road. The article also says there's been interest for the project in Australia, so maybe they've already looked into it.

Same thing Dapto was trying to say, the thing you're 'not buying' anyway. In comparison to itself and nothing else (entertaining this walled garden approach where no similar attraction exists or can be compared in the comparison that Brad decided to make), 2019 > 2020 > 2023 isn't a pattern, and gives 'em a good few years before any rough idea of a pattern from those dates would be broken.

Sure, I'll take that. Sky Sailor at various Fantawild Parks: Openings from 2006 - 2015, no known new films. Voletarium at Europa Park : Opened 2017, no new films. Flying Dreams at Ferrari Land: Opened 2017, no new films. Race Through New York at Universal Studios Orlando: Opened 2017, no new films. Green Lantern: Galactic Odyssey at Movie World Abu Dhabi: Opened 2018, no new films. Sky Voyager at Dreamworld: Opened 2019, two new films.

Superman or Sky Voyager? 'Cause the point was that Dapto had already attempted that for SV due to the way the original statement was worded, and Village doesn't publicize rider data for Superman. Again, with your choice of wording, it was something that could be proven or unproven. Opinionated wording & that's no longer the case. Rather simple.
-
That'd be because 'best ride on the Gold Coast' is a matter of opinion. If you were saying 'Superman is the most liked ride on the Gold Coast', that would be a statement that could be proven or unproven. What you said was 'Sky Voyager is well overdue for a replacement film', which can be proven or unproven. If you'd said 'Sky Voyager should have a replacement film', that would be a matter of opinion.

38% of annual Disneyland Cali visitors are said to be from SoCal, with the total number of passholders being around 1 million. And this article states that 'analysts' predict passholders could make up approximately half of Disneyland & California Adventure's annual visitors, with DCA's attendance hovering between 9-10 million guests annually in recent years (excluding COVID). Which, if both values were to be true, that would mean annual Disney passholders would (on average) return to the park 4-5 times a year. On Dreamworld's end, there's no concrete annual passholder visitation that's been publicized, nor repeat visitation stats to extrapolate from it, only that annual passholder sales have risen significantly in comparison to recent financial years, and that their annual visitation has risen to 1.4 million. With those in mind, though even if every single one of Dreamworld's visitors in 2024 (guessing they meant FY24) were passholders, meaning 1.4 million visits from only repeat visitors, DCA's annual returning visitor percentage would only need to be 15.5% of it's total to match Dreamworld's 1.4m, that being well under half of the amount of visitors from SoCal alone, and less than a third of the predicted value. So yeah, they aren't comparable, because DCA by volume has more repeat visitors & still didn't find value in changing the movie in their flying theatre for 15 years, whereas Dreamworld's done it almost annually. A better comparison could be made if there was data/estimates that could show the average repeat visits that passholders take to Dreamworld annually, but it would have to be magnitudes higher than DCA's to make the total volume of repeat visits match, let alone to scaling it to the time between movie changes at either ride.

Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024
Tricoart replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
FSF was also my first coaster breakdown/‘evac’, welcome to the club! But yeah, the sound is almost definitely the ARB. Not necessarily a safety issue, as the patent I linked states, but definitely one that should still be rectified, and one that reflects poorly ‘til they do. -
Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024
Tricoart replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Not scheduled maintenance 'cause they don't seem to have that on their site as openly anymore, but moreso pointing out an obvious sign that maintenance is needed. In a recent video posted by @Ogre, DC Rivals' lift has begun to make a very noticeable ARB noise. I haven't heard it ever do this, and as far as I know all Mack ARB's are designed to be silent when in proper working order. Having a look their 1993 ARB patent (which could very well not be the exact same ARB design on Rivals, but is the closest with a patent they own), it states that they use friction wheels/disks to keep the pawl raised above the rack during general movement, as to prevent unnecessary noise, vibrations, etc. That ARB design seems to have been implemented on all post-patent models, with a 1988 Bobsled (Avalanche @ Blackpool Pleasure Beach) having audible ARB's, and a 1994 build (Bobbahn @ Heide Park Resort) having their silent ones. To be clear, it also states that an audible noise doesn't mean safety is directly impeded, but it is an obvious marker that the ARB's need attention. -
Just a few days late. Hopefully it's better than the aquatic one they did, that one didn't seem like the movements were programmed that well (as it was rather jolty), and it being a fully CGI film with some pretty obvious mishaps & no real use of effects made it substantially worse than the default SV film.

Could you be thinking of their 3d map? 'Cause IIRC that was a secondary thing to the same styled, 2d map

Wizard of Oz - Movie World Arkham Asylum Replacement
Tricoart replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Weird comment, at best. Anyway, MW's said they're gonna be selling that umbrella soon, so IG that's the first known WoO merch (I've seen). -
Hopefully the final product is a bit more vibrant, that's got some better detailing in comparison to the last one, but it does currently look a bit more like a parking lot than a theme park at first glance.

Back at my PC, and though I don't have access to the locations of the markers (or have seen them myself to get a bearing on where they may be), a Giga Discovery-sized pendulum would definitely fit within the Claw's plot of land, but to have the same rough load-unload platform location without impeding on Shockwave, it would need to be oriented so it swings towards Main Street instead of perpendicularly to it, as shown. So, before we know for sure what it'll be, a Giga Discovery competitor that's likely slightly taller than them seems like a good bet, so Intamin can tout the 'tallest pendulum' record that Zamperla (and Six Flags) have been using for their own. That'd mean a max height over 173ft, which is almost double that of Claw Jr, and marginally taller than Intamin's current tallest offered Gyro Swing model (136ft). Edit: Also, adding to this, I feel it's worth mentioning that the IAAPA description says verbatim: It doesn't say multiple rides in collaboration with Dreamworld, but it also doesn't leave out the possibility of other ride announcements in their conference that don't yet have installations in the pipeline. It could be the case that their conference will include multiple new models/attractions, with one of them being this presumed 'Giga Gyro Swing', with it being singled out in their description as it's the only one with an installation already lined up via Dreamworld.
-
I feel like that's more reason for them not to be doing that. Yes, they are performing better financially after these additions, and they still have more to go, but Steel Taipan > Train Upgrade > Twilight Trail Reopening > Dreamland > Giant Drop Upgrade > Steel Taipan Train (Spinning Seat) > Rivertown > Tiger Island Upgrade > Claw Upgrade is already a big 3-4 year run before another major project like a new ground-up coaster/water ride, not to mention that their cash reserves aren't infinite (IIRC their latest report had $20mil allocated for park improvements). They'll get a new coaster (or, hopefully, that water ride) at some point in the future, but with the Claw trademark & the markings around it's site, I think it's safer to hedge your bets on the Intamin announcement being related solely to that, with the possibility of Dreamworld getting it as part of a delayed double deal, with something more substantial coming 2026 or later.
-
I can’t compare ride footprints right now ‘cause I’m not at my PC, but is there any possibility that this is their announcement at IAAPA because it’s a scaled up model to the tune of Zamperla’s Giga Discovery, maybe to the point that it usurps their height record? Could a ride of that size fit nearby where the Claw currently stands, and could it match the location of the sighted markings?
-
Yeah, being that it is presented at IAAPA by Intamin, it means it is something of significance to Intamin. What that is is up to debate, but a well-established ride type seems unlikely, especially given all the innovation Intamin are doing that could have been chosen to highlight instead (Gold Rush, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, Space Mountain @ Tokyo Disneyland, etc.).

The 2024 IAAPA Expo Europe has an Intamin press conference scheduled, with its description confirming the announcement of an attraction for Dreamworld. (From IAAPA Expo’s Website) Could be Motocoaster related, could be that water ride Dreamworld needs, but so long as it isn’t a Twin Hammer, a new Intamin is pretty exciting!
