  1. Oh ok cool. It looked really good in the 90s ha. It’s actually probably the closest accommodation to DW or any of the parks except seaworld ofc. Can anyone see the corkscrew element? I am absolutely sure it’s there, I just can’t find it. It’s probably deconstructed and I don’t even know where it was sitting. It would be probably be super hard to spot from a grainy above view.
  2. After a lot of looking here’s what I have found so far . here we have the earliest above photo of dreamworld I could find. 1st January 1978. It shows the ground work of a pre open dreamworld. You can make out the overall shape of DW there looks to be train track in place in some spots but it’s really hard to tell. next we have a black & white photo of dreamworld from 1982. That’s the next year they took a above picture of the park. The photo is bad quality but you can make out thunderbolt and the steamer ship in the lake. Then theres a bunch of photos of a thriving DW from 1990-1998 you can see a very vibrant blue lagoon. I like how on some of the photos you can see the shadow of thunderbolts loops on the group. You can see little puff track. Gold rush country looks cool too. Somehow I never put together that eureka was right behind the IMAX. If anyone notices some other cool things let us know what’s this building? It’s still there In this photo you can see cyclone getting built next to thunder bolt. And in the next one you can see them both operating side by side.
  3. I completely agree. Going with a more classic amusement park charm would be nice it would just be a fun area to be in. I agree Kenny and Belinda don’t really work for that area as much as something else would. Kenny and Belinda would be better for a wiggles world retheme but that’s not the case. Like @jozsaid a Asian tiger Island theme would be great. It would make the area pleasant to be in for adults and kids alike the other option I would love would be a European themed area or medieval village. The hard part is making it flow into the other areas around.
  4. I am done.. your mind is made up and I respect your opinion. Everyone else seems to understand why they are doing it so I don’t really get why your fighting it. But you have one good point to make. Serpent slayer was not executed very well unfortunately. But the well done parent centre gives me a bit of hope.
  5. You really have it down pat. Good job I applaud that. That is new to me too. I haven’t been to movieworld for about 6 months and when I went I had to do my own seatbelt on rivals
  6. Btw since this topic was originally dedicated to theme park worldwide. now that they have come and gone should we make a new topic for coaster studios?
  7. Yeah it’s hard supermans launch is better then any single element on Steal taipan in my personal opinion and I love the themed start to superman after the first drop there’s a few great airtime moments . Back row SE is better imo then steal taipan in the middle row but the spinning seat and triple launch I really love. SE is more intense but ST is just so fun and rerideable (One thing to note is I prefer well done inversions slightly more then airtime so that could be why.). But I can fully respect if people like SE more. I just personally am on team ST only because steal taipan has a spinning seat.
  8. In a world of social media and memes at least it would get heaps of publicity. Honestly a Peppa pig giga or hyper would be very successful haha. But like seriously it would be great. not even joking.
  9. Yeah DW did that food truck thing and it seemed successful so I don’t know. Maybe when we see DW billabong restaurant open up again they will get better food
  10. Nah wouldn’t want to be positive.. not when being moody is cool..
  11. But not the 2016 board? When the accident happened?
  12. Steal taipan is my personal pick. If we want to get picky SE is running rough lately. Your lucky if half effects work. It’s basically a second tier DCR while ST in unique to Australia. Sure most of ST is a clone but most people in Australia aren’t going to have ridden the similar ride anywhere else. Superman is over so fast the theming helps but Steal Taipan is a better overall coaster imo plus it’s basically had no Scheduled maintenance since it opened. It’s the Gold coasts old reliable (well new reliable) plus if we add the spinning seat it’s a whole other ball game.
  13. These are past mistakes. the park has announced they have a 5-7 year plan now so I think we can put that behind us. Yes that is the reason DW fell but no that’s not the reason they don’t have a bright future because they do have a plan now… Yes DW has removed a lot of icons over the years. It’s hard to get past that but we gotta move on. It was either run old DW to the ground or remove beloved attractions to keep the park moving forward. IP’s are a lame cash grab. They did a good job of DreamWorks land but if I wanted or anyone wanted movie based rides I believe there’s a park fully themed to that down the road?? No, DW needs something different from the rest. “Generic” (I say original) Is more risky and harder to pull off but if I had to pick between Disney or Phantasialand based on best themes I would with out a doubt go PL with its unique original themes. I know what they are planning is no where near PL style but I think removing all IP’s from dreamworld is a step in the right direction. Original themes can’t date like IP themes either.
  14. I feel like that’s a but unfair to say. @Rivalswas just saying it’s too bad not every ride is open that when they planed the trip was stated as open. I don’t understand why that’s such a bad thing to say? And then to go and call out dreamworld for no reason.. especially considering dreamworld now have basically completely new management and a new CEO. It’s like blaming someone’s son for what their dad did.. anyway.. do you think coaster studios will get the same treatment TPWW got with what rides they can and can’t film on?
  15. Yes they do like theme parks but they aren’t as die hard as I can be. We are going to be doing a lot of other non-theme park stuff too around Japan . So it’s not solely a theme park trip but I chatted to them and they want to see most the major ones. Like spaland/Disney/thunder dolphin/Fuji-Q but I think I could squeeze a few other little parks in too. We are going for a month but it might not be till 2024 depending on a few things. Nothing is booked yet
  16. When I heard they wanted to quick sell all that land I was not happy I get they needed the money but the huge amount of land is the only way for them to get back on top. I am glad they didn’t sell all of it. They still have plenty to work with. And now with the sale of main event and their focus on spending big I can see them working on expanding when they clean up the park a bit more. It would be cool if they got some inspiration from phantasialand to do a Spanish style area. Is The part marked In yellow is DW’s too?
  17. I know one of my friends who is a bit scared of roller coasters enjoys leviathan more then superman. (They haven’t done ST or rivals yet)
  18. Yeah with these raising fuel prices it’s going to be harder to get to the “parks” from where I live. I think a few mini parks could use this to their advantage. Mini parks could open in busy places that are a decent drive from the Major parks
  19. I am just going off what everyone else has said. I believe everything in blue is DW’s land
  20. I think space A is owned by dreamworld but I put the A in the wrong spot. I fixed it. Now B is the land DW do not own where the BB house was. If you zoom up you can see it’s foundation. RMC in A and free spin in D would be dreamy
  21. Wow you got pretty lucky to get on at all then what was your favourite seat on the train? I personally think it’s a back row ride but I can understand people who don’t like the roughness to go at the front
  22. I meant something for @Naazonto pass time, as a joke. I wasn’t having a go at you @New display name but your probably right I should get a job..
  23. Me too as I never got to ride a woodie before it but I ended up kinda loving the raw feeling. There’s 2 really good airtime moments in the back not including the drop. That’s too bad. I remember my first ride it was running pretty fast I absolutely loved it. It definitely sped up the most around lunch. I think they swapped trains after that because it felt slower again for awhile. Did you get a chance to do all front/back/middle?
