  1. Yes Joz...you are not mistaken...it all just goes back to what I said about lack of vision. Comic book characters aren't going to keep people coming back unless there is a wonderful land/ area with themed attractions etc...WL just seems to always take the easy way out & I'm frankly sick of it. There was a time when I ALWAYS had a Wonder Pass but I bought my last one 8 years ago. Since then, rides have closed & not been replaced & they even closed an entire section Hanna Barberra Land. I know that their licence ran out with Hanna Barberra but they still could have re themed this area instead of making up some story about how the park was too big for visitors.
  2. this is in response to mx5_boy Quote I have American friends who pack up the wife and kids and spend upwards of $3000 USD dollars just to visit Disney and they drive themselves in Winnebago's or something worse for the trip of a lifetime. Well then your friends must be staying either a hell of a long time at Disney or are staying at Disney resorts to blow that kind of money ESPECIALLY if they are driving. Most off site hotels can be had for $48.00 a night upwards with special rates for families available...I would also suggest that who ever you spoken to in the USA were quite wrong about going to Disney as a once in a lifetime experience. Who ARE these people your talking about...Do they live in trailers???? Yes we may not have the population that the USA does & quite frankly, I'm thankful for that. Nor do we get searched by security guards when we go thru the turnstiles at WL or DW or MW as you do at Disneyland, Six Flags etc...another thing I'm thankful for. However, this doesn't mean we should have to settle for second best regardless of our population. Wonderland has NOT added a new ride in eight (8 ) years. Regardless of the demographics this is deplorable & there's no excuse for such lack of imagination & vision. BTW...Paramount was considering a park in Melbourne a few years ago as Disney was considering building in Queensland, but our government wouldn't come to the table with costs for land improvements so...they went to China instead. Also...People MIGHT think about coming to Sydney to visit WL....IF it was worth visiting in the first place to begin with.
  3. Hi...I have it & find it a bit difficult to use, but I'm getting the hang of it.
  4. Getting back on to the subject IMO The Sydney Luna Park was better than it's Melbourne cousin. I'm speaking about the old Luna Park in Sydney before the Ghost Train fire offcourse. They both had exactly the same Big Dipper rides although the one in Melbourne had slightly more banked curves...I'm guessing this was due to space. It always felt like a faster ride to me than the one in Sydney. They both had River Cave rides but Sydney's was much larger & didn't feel as claustrophobic as the one in St Kilda. They both had Ghost Train rides but Melbourne's paled in comparison to Sydney's both in it's size & facade. Melbourne had the Giggle Palace...Sydney has Coney Island, which is also larger & more entertaining than Melbourne's. Melbourne did have a fairly cool flat ride called The Whip, which was removed years ago...This was quite fun to ride. Sydney didn't have a Scenic Railway however the park itself was on a larger site & had a nicer feel to it than Melbourne's park IMO
  5. Just FYI....Faller is one of the largest manufactures of model railway trains & accessories in the world 7 they are based in Germany. With regards to what you had been talking about on previous pages, forgive me for this but I didn't realise that it had been discussed before I made my comment. It was said to try to help this person that seemed interested in these model rides ok?
  6. Hmmm....Sounds like Wonderland screwed up again huh? I just hope that no harm has come to those beautiful lion cubs :?
  7. Hi, There is a German company called Faller....They make working ride models in Ho & N gauge. Some of these are really quite wonderful &...some aren't Anyway, if your interested in those, it may be worth your while to take a look at them. Most good model train & hobby shops have the details & I'm sure there would be a web site for them too
  8. Yes it is a metal wire, not only that but the ride operator that stands in the centre of the train uses his control lever to grab onto it....This same lever also controls the brakes.
  9. Good one Wonderbus....Perhaps he'll realise that people (ppl ) read this site for entertainment & NOT to learn a second language With regards to WL moving....WHERE would he get an idea like that? True, they haven't added a new ride since Adam was a boy, but they are obviously making a ton of cash as they have no competition in Sydney. It's really very sad when you look back & can remember the days when they would add some new ride every year. Still, they were owned by a different company then that obviously had some vision on entertainment
  10. Nightshifter.....I'd say anyone who has been on our harbour would have seen the giant face of Luna Park. I don't feel that people would think it's there as some kind of pop art. Incidentally....there was a time not that long ago, when Luna Park ruled, I'm NOT talking about the re hashed version that we got after the tragic Ghost Train fire but before all that happened. Luna Park was one of the greatest ( then ) still operating amusement parks from when they were first conceived in the 1930's It had a nostalgia all it's own & was a truly fun & affordable place to go....But then, you'd be way too young to have had the pleasure of seeing just what it was like I guess :? Wonderland has a long way to go IMO, before it gets to be a " world class " park......No matter if Luna Park does or dosen't take people from the west ( the locals ) to see it, Luna Park will still have the finest view of ANY theme park in the world & THAT's something that no " new show " OR Lion Cubs can top IMO
  11. Getting back on to the subject of the Tasmanian Devil.....I doubt that WL will bring anything new to replace this ride, just like when they removed the Skyhawlk, Red Back Spider etc, etc, etc.....A very poor way to run a theme park. Here's an idea....Why don't they just take ALL the rides out & just give us shops & shows. Now THAT should make us all happy huh?
  12. With regards to tiger cubs getting more people to visit Wonderland...Perhaps it may do that however it won't get as many people as adding a new ride. If Taz is ofline & isn't being fixed/replaced, then there's another reason for Wonderpass holders to feel ripped off. The price of these passes goes up each year & they add nothing new & infact take out rides without putting anything in they're place. IMO Wonderland really needs a few new ( decent ) rides there to keep the " Wonderpass " alive & well.
  13. There will sure be a lot of space where the Thunderbolt sat once they remove it. Conceivably, they would have enough room to put in a whole new " land" providing that there is no large coaster. I'm not saying that this would be a great thing to do as I love coasters but, it's a possibillity. Or perhaps they'll build a few mega flat rides & put in shops as well, I guess only time will tell.
  14. I honestly wish that Wonderland would build either an inverted coaster or another water ride, however I doubt this will be the case. I say this as I'm keeping with the topic of this section Thunder....I'm sorry it's taken me this long to respond to your posting however, I have a sick child & have been extreemly busy tending their needs over that last few days. Your not the only parent on this site. Thankyou for that informative & look into your sources. Although I never once questioned this, it was nice to get it " from the horses mouth" so to speak. I also never once questioned your " track record" so I'm a bit bewildered as to why you had to throw that comment in ( Once again) I simply expressed my distaste to the way you will hint at things without following thru...thats all. With regards to your comment on "writing for the masses" While I appreciate what your saying, how do you know what " the masses" are interested in? One must assume that you submitted a lengthy survey for all the people who read this site to fill in, or is it just your opinion? Finally, here's a big news flash...I don't read this site to be nice to you. If others care too for what ever reason, then that's entirely their prerogative. I like to read news & rumours, which is what I believe this site is all about.
  15. Flea...I'm all for him leaving posts on what he knows, don't get me wrong. It's when he hints at things & say's absolutely nothing that I don't like. If he can't tell us about what he knows for what ever reason then IMO he should just say nothing. In this instant, he hinted on knowing what was happening but didn't back it up. BTW as far as being grateful goes I have every right to voice my opinion on this matter.
  16. Thunder....you seem to delight in dropping is small comments about what will be happening without actually saying anything at all. I now know why people bite. If you know something than spill the beans, if not then just leave it out altogether ...if you can't say anything about what you know, then stop this childish " I know something you don't know" game. as it's getting tedious
  17. How about a really cool inverted coaster like the Duelling Dragons from IOA....It's an awesome ride
  18. How about something built especially for WL???...Now THAT would be a real concept huh? I went on a coaster in Santa Cruz a few weeks ago that was built in the 1930's now...admittedly it had been renoveated or what ever they do, but it was fast, thrilling & a great coaster, guess they don't build them like that anymore It's called the Giant Dipper & was only about half the size of TBB but it certainly made up for it with the fantastic air time & it didn't shake the fillings out of your teeth either like TBB does.
  19. I'm w/you...TBB was once a fun rollercoater to ride, but now it just shakes & rattles around that darn track. Is it the way it's settled over the years or is it the carriages or...would re tracking really help this sorry coaster. It's a real shame that a city the size of Sydney has only this as it's " top" coaster experience huh?
  20. C'mon guys...this is suppose to be a site to discuss news & rumors about THE PARKS, not an email war a thon. For that matter I also don't believe it's here to have " What my day at Wonderland was like" either. If you want to contribute something APPART from news & rumours , please take it elsewhere I don't log onto this site to read about who's right or wrong w/their information...it's just the information that I'm interested in, but that's just IMO.
  21. I agree with you that Medusa is a great coaster, however the park itself is appalling. I went there for the opening of Roar about 4 years ago & thought it was the best woodie that I've ever rode, my last visit was extreemly dissapointing. Roar looked un kept & like the wood was splintering, the ride itself had gone from a fantastic smooth twisting adventure to a rough & painful ride. As well as that, it didn't start operating till half way thru the day. Zingo was closed...no explanation for that as was Virtual Velocity, Hammer Head, The water ride, Tasmanian Devil & a few more as well. Also there was a lot of eateries that were just closed. When you put all that together in a park lacking a lot of sufficient shade in extreem tempretures like it gets there in Vallejo, it's not a great experience at all. I'd also like to see a floorless at Wonderland & a lot of other attractions as well...say a great haunted house ride thru for instance, but I won't hold my breath.
  22. stdragon03 wrote that in his opinion Wonderland should model itself on what Six Flags Marine World has done.....Are you kidding???? You mean, tear down every tree on the property leaving no shade , have six major attractions closed during their peak summer season & have absolutely NO decent theming what so ever???? That's EXACTLY what Six Flags Marine World was like when I was there a week ago...I'm NO fan of what Wonderland has become but I'd rather that than this pathetic excuse for a park called Marine World...What a dump it is ( in my opinion ) :?
  23. Opps...I'm sorry...I forgot ot put IMO in my last posting on this attraction. Please forgive me... While I agree with you in '''' it was still something different and to its target audience a quite entertaining little show'''''Don't get me wrong here...I liked the singing guitar playing Bunyip & the Mother Kangeroo w/the Joey in pouch as much as the next person...But the show just got old looking & lost it's appeal. A show like this needs to be maintained & cleaned not allowed to get cacked in dust & dirty looking....quite sad really.....ofcourse, that's just IMO
  24. Hi Seaboi, yes...it was the first animatronic show in Australia, but, it was really just a cheaply made & bad copy of Disneylands Country Bear Jamboree. The only real Australian thing about it was that they used our wildlife instead of the bears & ofcourse the songs. The animatronics were very basic even for the time it opened. I was shocked the last time I saw it, as it looked just SO run down.....I'm sure what ever they've done to the inside..the animatronic cast has gone to " a better place "
