  1. I agree that the thrill rides at most Disney parks are tame by comparison to the rides at Six Flags etc. However I still believe that height restrictions limit some children from being able to enjoy certain attractions with their parents & I think that these type of attractions should be kept to a bare bone minimum at Disney parks. All the other parks cater almost & I said almost specifically for the thrill seekers & that's great...I love thrill rides too, but I expect something magical when I go to Disneyland, something that you just don't get at the other parks. One of the most popular rides ever built at Disneyland is Pirates Of The Caribbean...No white knuckles needed to enjoy this amazing feat of Imagineering & no height restrictions either. It stands the test of time & the recent movie additions to it just enhance it that little bit more. At the end of the day Disneyland will always change & evolve & that was Walt's plan, I just don't think that adding more "thrills" is necessarily the way to go. Imagineers can create wondrous adventures that the whole family can enjoy, adventures that make you ask..." How did they do that? "...This was Walt's aim after all &..he knew his stuff. This recent tragedy is beyond terrible & I truly feel for her family that expected a little bit more from the " Happiest Place On Earth "

You want them to get rid of 1 of 2 thrill rides because of this? Have you even been to DisneylandP? Do you have any idea how many family rides there are? I guess not. RnR'r is one of the best rollercoasters going around..... Well you guessed wrong. Just FYI Harrop.... I have been to every Disney park accept HKD...I have also been to DL in California more times than I can remember so your comment is really unwarranted. I am perfectly aware of how many family rides are in the park....This is WHY Walt built in the first place. I am NOT saying that they should close any thrill rides that they have already merely that Disneyland was originally built to be a place where " familes " could experience attractions together. In my opinion this idea does not include having minimum heights for rides because in doing this, it is no longer an attraction for families. As far as RnR being one of the best rollercoasters going...Well your entitled to your opinion

First up....LOVE the pic's :D I agree with your thoughts on restoration...It would be wonderful to see just a tad of it's former glory copied. The Spider was a great ride also & the spider on the web was a fantastic entrance to it...you used to swing out over the water which was quite thrilling imho. From what I understand the WildCat was sold off to another park after the Ghost Train fire closed the park...but I'm sorry I don't know what one perhaps someone else??..The WildCat ride itsef was VERY fun espescially as it twisted high up on the building & it had a couple of wicked drops & helix's that always delivered :P As for the Big Dipper carriage...now that's a WHOLE new memory altogether. I was quite young & I remember being tossed around as it plummeted along the track. By far the best wooden coaster I've ridden. Plenty of drops & turns & a great out & back formation with camel humps all along the way

  4. I have to agree with bigglesworth003....Park employees would know zip about what the companies future plans would be in that area. I REALLY would love to see us get our own Disneyland & I don't care what state they built it in either. Being a Sydneysider it would be wonderful to see it here but at this point I'd be happy to travel where ever it was to go. It would be no different than as I do now to visit WBMW & DW :-)

  5. I remember going on The Bush Beast for the first time, and the first drop threw me out of the seat (not all the way, but it felt like it would)! Does that always happen on wooden coasters or were the lap bars really loose or wasn't I holding on tight enough? It certainly DID throw you around, I think that first drop had a slight twist in it that made you feel like it was being dragged out from undernesth you...As for the rest of the ride, it just go more & more shaky over the years to a pint where I just wouldn't ride it anymore cuz I don't find being hurt fun.
  6. The problem I have w/LPS is that it's not an amusement park anymore IMHO...It's basically a shadow of it's former self w/corporate venues where there used to be rides. There are now so few rides to choose from that it's not a full days outing. The old LPS ( pre Ghost Train fire ) was an amazing & magical place to visit when I was a child & I would go there often. It had all that wonderful old world feeling & plenty to see & do for the whole day/evening. Now we just have a few carnival type rides accept for the ferris wheel & wild mouse &...that's it. At least LPM is holding on to some of the charm & hopefully renovating it to keep it going.

  7. There are now 15 new galleries showcasing all of the rides and attractions of Luna Park in Melbourne. Included in the galleries is a comprehensive look at Scenic Railway, with over 20 photographs of the ride in action. Great Pics Rich, brings back a lot of good memories for me. I can remember being on it & there were very strong winds, the train stopped on the top corner nearest the beach & it did have to be pushed to get it going again.
  8. Ah, $6 to open the locker, which is hard when your wallets inside... I don't think a rotating system is the answer for Superman. The area for it is too way too small to work. Really, with the design of the station, the only functional way "fix" the problem is to make it free locker hire for an hour (with something that stops the locker counting time when the ride is down), then $7 after that. Still, I'm not privy to the logs from Guest Relations, and there not be much of a backlash on the ground.
I agree completely & it wouldn't be a bad idea if they had the decency to have change machines near the lockers too...My friend & I had to walk from Superman to a store just in an attempt to get coins..how stupid
  9. I agree, whats so good about Wooden Roller Coasters anyway? Thy are ugly, noisy and not that exciting. If they wanted something like that, they wouldv'e kept or relocated the Thunderbolt.
I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you on that point. Have you ever been on Ghost Rider or Pysclone or Roar? These just to name a few are IMO kick arse rollercoasters. They may not be the fastest or as high as some of the metal coasters but they have their place & were the first type of coasters ever built. I guess it's a matter of preference but to me a woodie ( as long as it's well maintained ) is a much more fun coaster to ride than a metal one. They all go up & down but on a wooden one I always feel that out of control feeling that I just don't get on the metal coasters :P
  10. I rode Superman w/my friend last week & we thought it was awesome & very smooth to ride. I loved how you flew out of your seat with each camel hump. I personally think it will do well accept a lot of kids were dissapointed that they didn't make the height restrictions &...the locker situation sucks IMHO

  11. Firstly Diannasaurus, if that is your real name, I know you weren't disputing wether for not Beastie was open or not and I also know that Daniel's comment was relating to men of the homosexual persuasion. I was being sarcastic, something that a lot of people here have no concept of. "The Bus is now leaving for Gay Lad Springs, Victoria"
Bussy if you were being sarcastic then why didn't you use one of the to appropriate icons to relate that feeling? Also my name is not Diannasaurus....it's my understanding that most people on these type of sites tend to use chosen names...Is that a problem? BTW sarcasm is the lowest form of wit so perhaps it's a good thing that some people on this site have no concept of it
  12. Was there any need for that comment? Regardless of your sexual preference, it's not at all appropriate. He had to get the costume on somehow and I'm pretty sure he didn't wear his normal clothes inside the suit. And anyway he is right Beastie was closed when it was filmed. Firstly Bussy, I never disputed if the beastie was open or not ok?... & secondly a " shirt lifter " is an expression that is used to put down gay men. I am not a gay man but have many as friends & find that term quite offensive.
