  1. Not necessarily. Given the circumstances of work required to be carried out on MM and theming/landscaping within the envelope, it’s safe to say night testing would’ve always been planned to take place. I remember the first tests of ST were always done around 5pm onwards or on weekends whilst no work was required to be carried out within the envelope. Refer to my previous reply. Completely normal I guess time will tell on this one… I had a good look at the area over the weekend and a lot of the work left to do shouldn’t take more than 50 days I’m confident we’ll see staff having a ride mid-December, and a soft open to public December 23/24. Although I’ve seen a lot less from MW myself as it’s harder to get any vantage points, my gut feel is WoO will beat DW to open by a few weeks
  2. 62 days starting to feel a lot more achievable now…
  3. 100% agree with this one! Rip it out and make the most of that real estate. Great opportunity to tie in Rivertown with Central Station and Giant Drop.
  4. No doubt about it. Expecting price increases from both after the new areas are open DW emails appear to only be received within the renewal period. Normally, VRTP do the exact same. I question the reason and intent behind this latest email blast hitting the inboxes of many people like myself who have many months validity left on their pass (I have 8 months to go) therefore not able to renew or ”act fast & best the price rise”. Smells to me more like a dodgy confuse the masses for a cash grab rather than a whoops accidentally hit send to all instead of some
  5. Sure, that’s possible too. However you’d assume if that were the plan then the motocoaster maintenance period would’ve always been to reopen sometime in December and not October (or 18 November as it currently stands)
  6. Motocoaster (or atleast the store/entrance) appears to be getting some retheme to suit Rivertown theme… But if it has been delayed by a month, could indicate the whole Rivertown project is actually behind by a month
  7. Locals AP is $219 or $189 to renew, wonder what it’ll rise to if they’re blasting everyone with an email? Surely this was an error sending to all passholders though? I checked to see if I could renew & “lock-in” this price and it doesn’t let me because mine expires in July. So, did I get this email by accident? Or are they trying to trick me into getting a new pass now at $219 because to renew when I’m actually eligible to renew might cost more than that? So confused.
  8. But comparing Happy Halloween to a school fete is a-okay, gotcha.
  9. Damnnnn what kind of school fetes do you go to??? I’d love to check them out one day! Ya’ll must be one of them there fancay skoolz 🙄 I really don’t know what your gripe with Dreamworld is, or perhaps you didn’t get to experience fully what was on offer, but just because SW had a laser lightshow (even though DW had lasers and lighting throughout) I don’t think it’s far to say SW was a far superior event. It’s unfair and ridiculous to compare either event to a school fete
  10. I’m still waiting for what “premium” feature SW had that DW didn’t… or, what it was that DW lacked this year? Both parks put on a night that was largely 95%+ the same as year prior. I can’t see where your gripe against DW has come from Yeah in fairness to DW, I should’ve also noted that SW put on an event 98% the same as well.
  11. Sorry, I don’t agree with that. Firstly, not sure where DW is supposed to be a “premium” park, as far as I’m aware DW is supposed to be a family friendly with a healthy mixture of fun/thrills to suit everyone… And you certainly don’t get much more of a family-focused event than HH or SN. What exactly is a “premium” element that SW had that DW didn’t? Did you not see the VIP pumpkin pass as a “premium” add-on? Granted, DW turned on an event where 98% is the exact same as last year, but it still drew a crowd and was a great night out with plenty to see and do. As much as I also enjoyed Spooky Nights, I feel it was much more commercially focused where SW were trying to squeeze every last dollar out of you. Don’t blame them, that’s what those nights are for, but I did end up spending more at SW than DW for pretty much the same experience.
  12. Oh I see… Given the caption is “bigger and better”, it must be referring to a previous event run, meaning it’s someone private/external to DW just hiring the joint again. An 18+ event goes against DW(Greg)’s focus for the park and even if they were running it we would’ve seen SOME marketing comms about it with less than 3 weeks to go
  13. GCB says before Christmas: The project is expected to open to the public before Christmas. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/entertainment/dreamworld-vietnam-warera-raaf-caribou-a4179-installed-in-rivertown-precinct-of-gold-coast-theme-park/news-story/416c70a9c24e8a35bad33681a6a1acf0 I feel like it’s too close to the date to be throwing out things like “by end of 2024” or “before Christmas” if it weren’t achievable. Now would be the time they’d bring in more vague timelines like “opening soon” or “opening this summer” in their comms if they wouldn’t make it.
  14. Based on the 7News report, it would seem DW are still confident on opening end of this year…
  15. Steel Taipan began testing mid-to-late October and theming wasn’t near complete yet. Still plenty of time edit: it was September, my bad. However, it was reported staff first rode it early November… so still time
  16. I think this WAS the endgame post-2016 and mid-COVID, when financial recovery seemed out of the picture. But given the shift that DW has seen with ticket sales & revenue, Gary can see the potential. If it truly were Coast’s endgame to set up DW & WWW for sale, we would never see the level of thought, care and theming going into the new rides or themed areas like K&B’s dreamland… nor would we see investment in things like hold virtually no capital value (namely Twighlight Trail, that Bilby area, Parents Centre, etc). Instead, Coast would bolster up their books with new rides and virtually zero theming… JR would be just some coaster plonked onto land with the nice entrance sign, and more closed off areas with little attention (like Twilight Trail).
  17. I was thinking it would be more IMO. Given the industry fanfare, Greg flying over there, a pretty lengthy & secret lead up, I was expecting some game changer announcement of a brand new ride (or rides) with features no one has ever seen yet… Some ride announcement where Intamin can show in front of all their competitors at the expo “hold my beer and check this insane sh!t the we can do” That’s not to say I’m not grateful or looking forward to KC… I must’ve just had too high of hopes originally…
  18. They’re only pushing KC as it’s HOT news now and JR/RT aren’t in a complete enough state to promote fully yet. I guarantee in the lead up to summer (and an opening date is confirmed internally) they will market the sh!t out of JR/RT opening and you’ll see it everywhere, especially if you’re a GC local
  19. The southern hemisphere’s biggest announcement tease flop (this year)
