  1. If you visit Aus Zoo you’ll get a taste of what the new Tiger Presentations without interaction will be. Doesn’t compare with what the DW tiger show is now, but I guess they’re getting with the times… 🙄 Not sure if Aus Zoo are always doing this now or just for my visit, but essentially they’ll just scatter meat all around the empty enclosure, leave, and then let a tiger enter and walk around finding the food. If the Tiger wants to they’ll climb the pole for the food at the top, or jump in the water for the food on the end of bamboo hanging over the water. Meanwhile, a handler will stand out front giving the presentation. I wonder if this redevelopment will allow for more/better paid experiences like their Tiger feeds, or if that’ll be phased out too… DW don’t currently have cougars at all. They did have a couple late 90s to early 00s. That area is just a BOH yard and has kept the name “cougar yard”
  2. 100% this. RGB lights like this just look cheap & tacky… maybe it’s triggering my PTSD from dodgy 3am kebabs not sitting too well the next day. Really starting to agree it’s missing some gold accents on the floral-y pattern parts (technical term), let’s hope it’s not the finished product and they’ll wow us on opening
  3. Didn’t manage to get pics, but they’ve installed demountables in the RHLR area, presumably site offices for Rivertown/Jungle Rush construction.
  4. Maybe there’s 39 stories to be told about why it took so long to reopen. I mean surely there’s some kind of approval/spell checking process before signage is sent to print right… SMH
  5. This was presented nicely alongside the new ST logo on a printed mesh banner… it wasn’t a massive ugly BADGE logo on a black wall. You’ll also remember between Sky Voyager building and BuzzSaw there was a wooden wall, with a nicely printed wrap about BuzzSaw…
  6. You have got to be kidding me! How can anyone running the joint at DW be ok with this??
  7. But the soon to be infamous “DW black wall” has been more than a day… Being the very first thing people see as soon as they pay their hundreds of dollars, step through the entry gates and enter a famous Gold Coast theme park… boom, plain black wall with stickers… It’s just not good enough, and should not be overlooked. Stab in the dark… 1 day for a graphic designer, 1-3 days for printing, 1 day for installation, $5k printing & installation and your job’s done. A decent attempt at welcoming guests and photo opp for guests whilst building excitement for an upcoming attraction. The wall didn’t just appear out of nowhere overnight, they knew it was coming, someone would’ve taken the time to measure the area, order the timber, construct it… DW had plenty of opportunity to plan and properly present their entrance. Maybe Disneyland have done similar fencing jobs, but I can guarantee it wouldn’t be like that in their main entrance and the first thing people see as they enter.
  8. Please tell me these pitiful stickers are temporary and a proper mural is in planning, or the vinyl is currently being printed… Photo credit: Zac via Dreamworld Times News & Discussion FB Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/2817564521854077/permalink/3478173402459849/?mibextid=W9rl1R
  9. Looks like nothing new this year… Seems like they’ve stripped back their offering from previous years too. Hopefully this is just a byproduct of the works and investment in the park and Winterfest can be bigger and better in future years…
  10. Can I vote we correctly spell “flyer” in the title of this thread? #grammarpolice
  11. Think of it the other way around… Non locals price is the standard price, and the locals price is a discounted ‘reward’ for locals. That’s where locals passes first came about… rewarding the locals with a discounted pass option.
  12. I think it might be too early for speculation or judgement on that one. The main key words that Greg has said in all announcements is “immersive” and “theming.” Now he’s at the helm, it seems the days of DW doing things half assed has gone. Also, I remember everyone flipping their sh!te here over the Steel Taipan footpaths as soon as they were first painted, and the finished product was so much different/better. I’m sure it’ll be the same with the grey track through Dreamland.
  13. It was the same story with Wedgie. Nothing to do with covid or social distancing, someone got injured on it recently and so DW’s easiest (least risk) response is to “temporarily” close it.
  14. Yeah I don’t either… that’s how the Rat’s car looks in the early shows on ABC Kids 🤷🏻‍♂️ Nowhere near as bad as that amateur paint job of “snake skin” or whatever it’s meant to be on the black fence as you drive in
  15. Many reasons… firstly, it appears an agreement is in place to remove all DreamWorks IP by end of January based on how quickly everything has been removed or changed. Secondly, the new names may not have been secured legally, or approved by Wiggles or ABC or even Ardent management, or even confirmed and agreed upon yet. Thirdly, some of these attractions may not stay either, with announcements on these not wanting me to be public until later date. Think the ‘shit news sandwich’… “here’s some great news at Dreamworld, and also Gingy’s is being removed, oh and some more great news about this fantastic new street food festival” (plus there can be many more reasons, SEO, waiting for consumer research, etc…) Therefore, in between the period of removing DreamWorks mentions and any new names/announcements being made (days/weeks or months), the rides still need to be referred to by staff, guests, website, maps, etc… Hence, a temporary name!
  16. Wow great! Shame it skips over so quick… I would love to see a feature-length doco about it.
  17. Can confirm SW’s is still closed. Had a look over the fence the other day, all the ride components are gone and it looks like they’re doing a repaint of the area before bringing it all back in again. Will be a while until it reopens
  18. Rode Leviathan for the first time today… was great fun, but does anyone else thing it’s incredibly rough for a brand new ride? or is this just how wooden coasters are?
  19. Add a new movie in the mix too! I don’t ride SV anymore because I’m sick of the same AUS movie… Where’s Canada? Europe? Africa? Something fictional like a Space Adventure? Heck, even chuck USA back into the mix again!
  20. Agreed with the capped numbers… it’s noticeably less attendance than previous years and absolute BLISS! Nothing worse than trying to make your way down a stupidly jam packed Main Street, feels like you can actually breathe this year.
  21. If the cash starts rolling in after these 2 rides, wouldn’t be surprised if they do get 5 rides within 5 years. Gumbuya ain’t stuffing around… opening 2 rides in 9 months is huge. Props to them!
  22. I think the most reasonable (and fiscally responsible) choice for DW would be to retheme the current Motocoaster with new trains into something that fits the Rivertown area theme... like with a 'runaway train' storyline, or even change the bikes to ATVs like Juvelen. Unless they have a ridiculously bumper time from now until end of 2024, I don't think they'd have the cash to blow on a replacement.
  23. Did you link the wrong video? Literally zero mention of Movieworld’s new rides
  24. Couldn’t agree more… as much as I do enjoy the ride, the design doesn’t suit many. With TOT track gone and the train running fairly close to Giant Drop, there’s actually a lot of run, plus with DW “reimagining” the area into Rivertown… there’s SO many possibilities for a great replacement ride to go in there!
