  1. God why in the hell was that? Are they saying that it was in some way unsafe to spin? If that’s the case why do you even have the ride? Knee jerk bullshit from TRR has really stuffed up the industry in Australia. We’ll pretty much have no water rides now because of that, which is just ridiculous.
  2. Look I don’t know if that’s something to brag about, but the point is valid 😛
  3. I think this + shark bay would be my favourite time of the parks history.
  4. The rides are great but the parks awful to deal with. Pay the money and get the stupid expensive flash pass, and add X2. Not sure if only get one ride on Colossus still but if you do, start your day lining up for that and use your flash pass for a re ride later. Easily the best coaster in the park if not one of the best ever.
  5. The persons that ‘should’ have been responsible at Dreamworld for safety of this ride had the same risk assessment training I have. They had more experience working with amusement rides than I have. Yet they failed to see ANY of these risks, let alone all of them and claim they couldn’t possibly have known/shouldn’t have had to know. Shame on them for their slackness and incompetence and disgraceful of them that they don’t take responsibility today. The actions of every person responsible for the management of ride operations and maintenance in that place were down right disgusting.
  6. Maybe building a highly dynamic flat ride that needs a kick ass footing didn't go perfectly smooth on what is effectively boggy sand... shit happens. Doesn't have to be anything as sinister as contractors walking out to cause a delay.
  7. Well I'd argue the current management is a hell of a lot better than it was in the 'American era'
  8. Not if they tear the rest of that POS down with it
  9. We’ll let this run its course but it’s a shit topic to be sure and when It descends into nonsense we’ll lock it.
  10. Dunno maybe because the people that get on their rides all walk off of them at the end alive? You kill people because of shoddy park upkeep and people are likely to be more critical of your approach to park upkeep... that’s just how it is.
  11. Is that difference going to be 4 major attractions open and running because if not who cares? It's easy to fly a "hey we are doing so good" when all of the things are drop in the ocean spend wise and basically the most you can do for the least amount of investment as possible. Yet to see a single non reactionary move from the park since the accident.
  12. Or maybe just build a good solid family water ride with no gimmicks
  13. God that’s a tad tacky letting them hang their dodgy banner.
  14. It’s not uncommon for a park to have one of these people. Wonderland had Kevin, Knotts Berry Farm has Richard and seems DW has Ben. These guys are usually a bit on the spectrum which seems the case here also, and the parks are their comfort place. It’s not really any different to someone that gets home each afternoon and plays fortnight, instead they go to the park.
  15. I don’t know why Australian parks have this fascination with sacking everything at the front 200m of a park. Put a new coaster back in the park to draw people into it. Our parks are terribly cramped when you compare them to something say like Knotts or Magic Mountain.
  16. I don’t know what they could have put in. Possibly a large full circuit coaster? Spend more money and send it out the back or something. Im not sure, and I’m not saying it was a bad decision for the park. But I am saying it was certainly a tipping point where thrills took over priority from theme. That’s definitely the catalyst for the park starting to lose its charm. It’s why it was ok to plonk tailspin or Motorsport or cyclone in OCEAN PARADE. And everything else of the same nature.
  17. Correct. The argument that current generation isn’t interested and therefore doesn’t need quality and detail is false. This is being proven time and time again but the latest offerings by Disney and Universal. They HAVE to keep outdoing each other because it’s been shown when one takes immersion to another level, they lose business to the other. immersion and detail is key.
  18. I disagree here. for me tower stands for the moment the park went “stuff the theme we want to pull in quick bucks” if they’d tried they could have build a world class ride without destroying majority of the park.
