  1. They are fine tbh, they aren't very long performances and they don't spend the entire time blocking the stairs, it's like a 2 minute dance number
  2. I'd imagine it mostly coming down to the fact that Moto is one of the worst to operate in the park, with staff having to go physically show people how to get onto the bikes almost every dispatch
  3. Pretty sure it's still allowed, it's just the parks can't do it until the ride has passed all testing and regulatory inspections. Dreamworld did this earlier than Movie World from the looks of it, allowing them time to run technical rehearsals and staff rides. Movie World probably could, and should, have done so as well. But then Dreamworld would have opened first and they would rather guests deal with a worse experience than be second to open
  4. Exactly, Dreamworld has so much space available and we don't need more knocking down of one attraction to build another. Just give it a retheme to fit better if Rivertown ends up being a hit for them
  5. Didn't eat at Jane's today as Christmas is already expensive enough, but we did have a look around which staff were nice enough to allow. I think the only bathrooms in the land are in there so I guess they'll let people come in for that if needed which is part of the reason we went inside anyway. Theming again, is just phenomenal. All the staff being dressed up, theming elements every inch of the place. Really good size, feels like more tables than when it was Billabong but yet doesn't look crowded either The bathrooms were really nice and even themed Greg was serving guests, bringing out their food and chatting to them. Huge respect to him and his team actually getting out there and making a difference directly Really enjoyable music and general vibe to the entire place Can't wait to actually sit down and try the food, it looked pretty good and decently sized from what I saw people getting
  6. I didn't actually ride MM today as the queue was constantly packed and I just know that I will need to take multiple younger family members on next year so I would rather save the pain till then. That being said: From the outside the area is phenomenal, so much movement and life, water running everywhere, massive elevation changes. Compared to the old mosquito pit they shoved it into down at wildlife this is in a completely different league The cars all have their little touches such as different animals and item layouts on the roof, its a really nice touch instead of cookie cutter designs. That being said, they are all the same old shade of green, a little variety and dirt effects like on JR would be appreciated. I also think the rooves look fine and fits the story Dreamworld seems to be pushing that the land is all built by Murray and Jane. Seems like quite a decent length The interaction with Jungle Rush and eventually the Dreamworld Express looks awesome Overall I think this is a smash hit, unless the actual ride experience somehow ends up being terrible which I can't see how that could be
  7. Just got home after spending most of today down at Rivertown. My thoughts Rivertown The archway as you enter is awesome, so much texture and life to it. The front of the gift shop leaves a lot to be desired, I think it was a last minute decision and I hope we see some texture added to the front so it isn't just a brown box Inside the land itself is amazing everywhere you look, once the greenery grows in even more its going to be breathtaking. Themed street lights, themed seating, custom fences, nothing in the land feels generic or off the shelf. Some more shade along the main walkway and above the seats would be great, I personally felt there was a good amount of seats except around Murrisippi Motors its just most of them were in the sun and thus, unusable after baking for a few hours Drinking fountains? like I know they want to make money on drinks but come on guys, you have to at least give us one down there at least So glad they kept that giant Fig Tree in the middle of the land, without that I don't think the jungle illusion would work at all Access through to Tiger Island is the same as ABC kids used to be, works great for the flow of the park So many great locations to take off-ride shots of both attractions, will be great for families and for people filming for YouTube, especially once the Dreamworld Express is back open and runs behind Murrisippi Motors Blows WoZ out of water, the clear winner in regards to every possible aspect Jungle Rush Theming in the queue and station is fantastic, easily the best in Australia IMO (except for the bunnings pedestal fan in the gem room which I have to assume is temporary, but I guess that's better than melting to death in a fenced in cattle pen) Clearly there is still a bit more theming to go inside the temple, the hill as the first enter seems to have a bunch of threads sticking down from the roof in preparation for more to be attached and you can see into the back of some of the panels as you climb onto the turntable initially Single rider was closed, however the queue was so short most of the day and I wasn't alone so didn't affect me, but I did see some seats going empty on some cycles Managed to easily get multiple rides in and experience front and back row rides in both directions. Backwards, row 10 (front seat of the train if you were going forwards) was my favourite, you get whipped around some of those corners. Almost like a kids DC Rivals back seat Longest queue we had was about 25mins and stretched back out past the gem room, had rides where we basically walked straight into the station The operations team were exceptional, quick dispatches with the only real hold up being guests leaving their items. They were actually paying attention too, if they had only half filled a train and more people came up through the queue they actually noticed and let them through. They were also asking anyone in the forwards line if they would like to jump over into the backwards to fill empty seats which I almost always saw someone take up the offer The "leave backwards" line seems far less popular, however I think its the better ride experience so that was a win for us, got multiple walk ons today for leaving backwards but never for leaving forwards The item storage is pretty poor though, having a tiny cabinet with a sliding door that wasn't being used to split it up between trains, leaving it just sitting in the middle blocking half the slots while people shoved it back and forth. The gap between the storage and the trains is very tight, resulting in people having to wait for those getting off to collect their items and then having to wait their turn to fit their items in. They did open the gates before people had finished collecting their items which was appreciated, and would be amazing with a better layout item storage system (and guests with their brains switched on). No test seat to be found, unless I am just blind Easily the best new coaster to open in Aus this year Murrisippi Motors & Jane's I will talk about in their respective threads.
  8. Anyone know if the single rider was open?
  9. Just screams to me that they weren't ready to open it yet and only did it to be first. They wouldn't have the staff rostered to operate it because they didn't even intend for it to be open at all
  10. Fairly sure they just didn't remove the existing boardwalk when they demolished ABC Kids World
  11. Just got back from taking the nephew, my thoughts: The Good The theming in the queue entry buildings is top tier, very immersive and well themed The land isn't as bare as I initially thought it looked from the Fright Night images Accessibility for people with disabilities was incredible, well beyond anything any of the parks do at the moment Despite the pathway into the land being quite narrow, it didn't feel congested. Even in the main entrance itself I never felt overcrowded Statues at the front are awesome, really good quality and I am sure we will see it 10,000 times on Instagram every week. (Way better than that nightmare fuel flash statue) Munchkin land was neat, if only people would move out of way so you can take photos instead of sitting on their phones in front it. They might need to put some seating in the area for people not riding so they don't use all the theming as chairs The Emerald City projections are pretty neat and its nice to have an airconditioned space to hang for a bit. Surprisingly there wasn't a huge crowd, in fact it was almost empty when we walked through, maybe staff move you along if you hang around too long? KT seems like it is going to be a great number absorber for the park, even with average operations and multiple empty seats the line never seemed to extended beyond the stairs out of the indoor queue section. Which is about the amount you'd fit on both trains. Chatting with some of the people in line they were saying they managed to get multiple rides in on KT easily. The Vekoma trains on both are great, very freeing even for someone with bigger legs. I had no issues getting them past the minimum close which is a struggle for me on rides like Kenny's Forest Flyer over at Dreamworld Both coasters are exceptionally smooth, though I didn't expect anything different from modern Vekoma Tons of staff working the rides, hopefully once they get in the rhythm more things will get faster. Assuming Movie World continues staffing them with that many. The Bad Slow operations. I timed FOTWW at an average of 4:30 per dispatch while the ride lasts just over a minute. KT was around 4 minutes flat for a ~35 second ride. No single rider option. Every single train that was dispatched had empty seats, on average I counted around 4 empty seats per train. Staff send groups up one at a time to the ride from the queue, but then just stand around looking at their feet until they send the next group up. Surely they could pop their heads around the corner, count the number of empty rows and send a few more people through. Our ride on KT had 7 empty seats (including entire rows) on our train, plus 4 more empty single seats on the opposite side. The queue still had plenty of people in it at this time. They also don't seem to even try and group people, there was a single rider in front of us who was put in their own row despite another single rider being further up the train. Fingers crossed this is just while they get used to operating it and things speed up in the future The old pathway through to Scooby was still closed, though it was painted so I assume it will open eventually FOTWW was listed at 45mins when we joined the queue, took over 1.5 hours to get on. KT was listed as 5 minutes, which was closer to 10 given the dispatch times, but not a huge deal. The indoor section of FOTWW's queue is a bit too dark, my eyes aren't the best but also not the worst. I guess it helps the immersion but also makes some of the details harder to make out Once you get out of the indoor sections it is basically a fenced in concrete pathway with very little shade. Despite the queue being over an hour long it just barely stretched into the FOTWW building, leaving most people standing out in the sun The photo area where you scan your photos is shared for both rides and has a very tight doorway to get in, it was full of people and you could barely squeeze in to collect your photos. The section the rides are in is basically unexplorable, the fencing they've used looks a bit different to the stuff over at Rivertown in that the holes are smaller, blocking even more visibility of the theming. There was one photo op with some trees from FOTWW as you exit the ride where you can take photos, but outside of that it was a concrete path surrounded in black wire fencing. I would have loved a section of cornfield to take photos in Overall I think the land is good and step in the right direction. From what I have seen of Rivertown I would rate that higher, however I have yet to actually experience it myself so won't say for certain. For two off the shelf model coasters I think they couldn't have picked a much better option for the plot of land. Of course something custom would have been way better, but 99% of visitors aren't going to know or care. Theming, where it exists, is great. If this is what we can expect moving forward I will be a happy camper. Though I will wait and see if they maintain it, who wants to take bets on how long until one of the screens in the KT queue windows is just black?
  12. Based on Ogre's Video, it looks like the train travels over the same section of track twice, so it ends up facing the opposite way each time it returns to the station. I wonder then, if when they run two trains you might only do that first section once and return to the station facing the way you started? That would probably be smart during peak seasons to ramp up your throughput, at the expense of a shorter ride experience. Could mean we get a different ride experience depending on when you go?
  13. Ogre has video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36qklnFnfWs
  14. My bad, thought it was more related to the discontinuation of contact than the stage 1 changes
  15. Probably could have made a new thread for this, but looks like a bunch of "journalists" are reporting that Dreamworld is going non-contact due to the incident: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12-17/dreamworld-ends-human-interaction-with-tigers-gold-coast/104734418 https://7news.com.au/sunrise/major-change-for-beloved-dreamworld-attraction-after-handler-was-mauled-by-tiger-c-17109531 https://www.skynews.com.au/lifestyle/trending/dreamworld-announces-major-change-to-wildlife-interactions-after-handler-hospitalised-from-being-mauled/news-story/dc737ed0dfc3c3c836fd9bf123119078 at least some of them mention that this was announced years ago, not before they got in their click bait about the recent incident though
  16. Has village said anything lately? It's been over two weeks since they posted footage of FOTWW testing and the only other thing they posted was the coin... They started months before Dreamworld surely they have to be close by now
  17. For anyone who didn't see it, from Jaggs recent sneak peak
  18. I mean these days you'd be hard pressed to find a provider that offers lock-in contracts for SIM cards. But I have had plans I have cancelled before at a flat rate cancellation fee which was lower than remaining months of the plan would have cost me. If you have a mobile phone you are paying off then yeah you would be expected to pay the remaining amount owed
  19. Jungle Rush seems to be fenced off with a wooden fence that looks pretty well themed, if they put the same fencing around Murrisippi Motors I wouldn't be happy though as it completely blocks any sight lines. Frankly I think black chain link is one of the better options for blending in and trying to be invisible. Photographers at motorsports events will often spray paint small sections of the usually silver chain fence black as it obscures it better for taking photos through.
  20. Right, but I don't have the option to pay the entire plan at once right? Mobile Phone plans are a monthly service, you are paying for usage of the network over a month period. You can end your contract early and in some cases not have to pay out the full cost of the plan. AfterPay is an external provider that offers BNPL, this is not the same as a monthly plan like you get with your phone. I can't just decide I want to end my annual pass after 6 months like I can with a phone plan This is all I am saying that Dreamworld should do, put the full price on top in a slightly bigger font. End of the day? It's not going to stop be visiting Dreamworld or renewing my pass so whatever
  21. I feel there is a difference between something that is inherently a monthly service. You pay for data and usage of the network per month. Like I said, I have no issue with AfterPay being an option nor do I have an issue with them advertising the AfterPay price, but you cant deny its a tactic to make people feel like they aren't paying as much. Studies have shown people are far more likely to make purchases they normally wouldn't where a BNPL option is presented, so advertising that as the main way to pay feels slightly scummy IN MY OPINION Source: https://libertystreeteconomics.newyorkfed.org/2024/02/how-and-why-do-consumers-use-buy-now-pay-later/#:~:text=For individuals near their credit,a balance and accruing interest.
  22. Having the option isn't scummy, but when you put the full price in much less visible text below it's a bit scummy imo. Feels like they are trying to hide it in a way to make people feel like they are getting a deal
  23. Maybe I am wrong here, but I would assume the rooves they added to the log ride were a safety addition, not theming like we are seeing on Murrisippi Motors. Worst case scenario they just take the rooves off. We also don't know if the car on track is even the final product, maybe that roof structure is just to test clearances around the track before they bring down the properly themed cars?
  24. Maybe the original electric cars they planned had rooves and so they designed their concept around it. In the QLD sun I'm sure families would appreciate a roof
