  1. A kids ride! It's quite clearly a kids area. Shouldn't be the home of a 'top 9' thrill ride!
  2. I was recently thinking this exact same thing. In my mind, Pandamonium was almost a waste. As Richard mentioned , The Claw had a huge impact when it first opened. Certainly not matched by Panda. Very weird choice plonking it in a kids' area. Whereas Tailspin is totally appropriate for its location, and I really like the concept theming. BUT going forward DW needs to step away from Ocean Parade and flat/spin 'n spew rides. They're done
  3. And they'd be 100% right! Not very often I agree with comments on facebook, especially theme park pages
  4. I totally agree with you joz. I can't believe this new area only has one new ride. I thought they'd at least have a couple of smaller attractions similar to the Wizarding World, like a minor roller coaster etc. Top marks for incredible and immersive theming. Marks taken off for a serious lack of rides!
  5. Only half the building? Still SUCH a waste of a great dark ride building. What a waste of all that space and especially the extra high ceiling (perfect for a major dark ride). Why couldn't they build this stupid ride outside???
  6. It just doesn't make any sense! A mini Movie World driving ride. What does that even mean? Couldn't they have at least come up with a decent theme? How about tying it into an actual movie with an appropriate license - it's MOVIE world for god's sake! I reckon this attraction is going to seem so out of place - kinda like when The Big Banana at Coffs Harbour added a monorail that went through a space station. Just random
  7. Yeah, that's one of the many areas that really needs fixing before next season. Some nice lush tropical greenery wouldn't go astray. I'd even settle for a few random plants there and there. The park needs some friggin atmosphere!
  8. ^^ YES TO THIS - all of it!! Great post joz and probably sums up, perfectly, what we are all thinking, and have been thinking for a very long time
  9. I've been meaning to comment on this ^. I think it is a spectacular idea and would be a brilliant use of the show building. It could essentially be marketed as a whole new (indoor) kids/family precinct at Movie World. If they were to put in plenty of theming and atmosphere (as in the above pic) I think it'd be an absolute hit with families. If only...
  10. ^ This is the best and most accurate categorisation of the ride type. It is not a traditional dark ride. Much like Superman Escape and Storm Coaster, it is a roller coaster (although in this case indoor roller coaster) with dark ride elements. And yes it is also a family ride (although a fairly thrilling one).
  11. I couldn't agree more! Dark water rides have so much atmosphere and really made these parks true theme parks. If Disney can hold onto some of its 50-or-so-year-old dark rides, I don't see why Village had to dump its 20-year-old attractions.
  12. "Hey it's the stripper from the kids show!" (one of my fave lines ever)
  13. I think you are wrong about that. Flames were certainly planned - they just weren't ever delivered for whatever reason. Didn't we decide it had something to do with safety around commissioning?
  14. It was too long. I got through the first paragraph then gave up.
  15. What a WASTE of a truly massive dark ride building. I'm sorry but it would be ridiculous if they kept using it as a maintenance/storage shed. Find somewhere else for that! They did before! This building encroaches heavily into the park itself and therefore needs to be utilised as a major attraction.
  16. I think the term theme park is fairly loosely used these days. Wet 'n' Wild Sydney were referring to themselves as a water theme park, despite ZERO theming in the park. It couldn't be less themed if it tried. So I think it's about how the park wants to position itself, and clearly 'theme park' gives an impression of something major and of a certain quality.
  17. ^ Exactly, it wouldn't date. I think this one is a no brainer. It makes so much sense and would be a huge drawcard. It would also give the park a much needed additional brand/theme. Take the focus off DC comics. A lego dark ride would be absolutely perfect; what a shame they are apparently giving the Looney Tunes building over to the kids car ride. Such a waste of a massive dark ride building
  18. Thanks for the information Richard. I hadn't realised Sea World had had its best ever January. That makes me feel much better. They certainly deserve it with Storm Coaster
  19. According to this article about the impact of Wet 'n' Wild Sydney on rivals, Dreamworld has done fairly well over the past year, including a 20% lift in January. I don't get the general public; no new attractions and a deteriorating park leads to an attendance boost: http://www.smh.com.au/travel/travel-news/wetnwild-rivals-face-dip-in-trade-20140308-34e21.html
  20. ...and I'm not in the least bit surprised: http://www.smh.com.au/business/wetnwild-theme-park-makes-6m-profit-in-weeks-20140218-32xpj.html
  21. You're talking as if the car ride has been definitely scrapped, rather than just delayed... I don't think we know either way yet.
  22. Such a waste of such a massive show building. Could build an amazing dark ride
  23. Well that's stupid. The whole point of a family raft slide is that it's a family RAFT slide. Now it's turning into some weird hybrid. Seems like ProSlide have really stuffed up here. Although I do wonder if WnW is being overly cautious in the case of the family slides?
  24. The saga continues: http://m.smh.com.au/nsw/wetnwild-security-chief-quits-after-revelation-he-lives-with-successful-tenderer-20140118-311l8.html
  25. 3-8pm is just weird for a theme park. It's not some amateur operation. It should be open the whole day; it's still summer, and they're closed for the rest of the year anyway
