  1. 20 years down the track, when the park is no longer owned by Ardent but by a company that is actually interested in investing in theme parks
  2. Thanks Daniel. The wave pool looks great IMHO. Still seemingly lots of work to be done on the lazy river though. And the plantings around the river need some serious work - very sparse at the moment. Also happy to see they are starting to add canopies to the top of the towers; I was a bit worried for a while they were just going to leave them unsheltered.
  3. Very smart decision. You'll be waiting a long time is my guess. Am I the only one that has given up on DW?
  4. How will people not die? I just can't see how this will work - surely the risk of a raft toppling is rather high? Very interested in the logistics.
  5. I totally agree with everything Gazza. I was just thinking the exact same thing recently in regard to the idea of building a tower with one new attraction and then simply adding one extra attraction to the same tower each year. Cost effective - especially considering the big marketing push that each individual attraction could be given. Ardent Leisure should be ashamed of the way they've just given up on WhiteWater World. It had such promise and started really well with new slides never before seen in Australia (hydroLIM, bowl slides). The expansion plan was to include not only the dark mammoth and tantrum, but also a lazy river. All 3 of these attractions would have been great additions to the park. It's pretty crazy for a waterpark not to have a lazy river. And WWW's small size has always put it at a competitive disadvantage. Ardent could have fixed this. But they gave up...
  6. The Tornado Wave appears to have a similar helix into the drop as Lalandia's original attempt, although possibly even worse; so you'd think if raft tipping was a problem, it'd be a problem for the wave. Unless it has that break system you referred to Gazza. I just can't imagine Proslide building slides that would lead to a good chance of people being hospitalised.
  7. What is this water trim brake you refer to Gazza? Thanks for sharing that koppen. It's a reminder of the serious engineering that is involved in the creation of an effective (yet safe) waterslide
  8. Channel 7 has uploaded a Go Pro POV of the dark tornado, tantrum and tornado wave (although one of them is more of a hairy-leg POV) - https://au.news.yahoo.com/nsw/video/watch/19814910/wetnwild-go-pro/ The dark tornado is actually not dark at all on the inside; it's got plenty of light. And there finally appears to be an explanation for that off-coloured piece on the last 'bulb' of the tantrum: it appears to be a translucent section. So perhaps not a manufacturing problem afterall (I thought that'd be weird for Proslide to let that one slip). Anyway, I have to say overall the slides look like CRAZY FUN! Can't wait!
  9. Sydney is looking pretty wet over the next week or so. I wonder if this will be an issue for them. They've had a pretty good run up till now weather-wise so I hope they didn't leave anything to the last minute. Latest pics & vids still showed plenty of dirt piles & unfinished bits & pieces
  10. ...and of course Wednesday night's program is the only one that isn't available on Tenplay. Frustrating!!
  11. Would love to see that. Too bad Village doesn't seem to upload its commercials.
  12. I still think the Curler should have been used for the Tornado Wave. Bombora is better suited to one of the raft slides as it fits well with Riptide. Oh well, no biggie. PS Can anyone figure out what T5 means?
  13. Why didn't people like the train? I would have thought that would have been a highlight - a dark train ride with stuff jumping out randomly. Sounds fun to me
  14. Well said! What's wrong with this country? I was thinking it might just be a QLD & NSW thing.... clearly I was wrong
  15. In regard to theming (or lack of) in the dark ride section, I'm fairly sure there is a lit statue or two inside the building, isn't there? From the video I saw it looked like there was at least one just before the exit to the lift. It seems the inline twist section as you are exiting the building is some type of themed wooden tunnel too? It looks like it would give a neat disorientating effect... and the smoke is a nice touch
  16. I agree - the suggestion that this would have been a good choice for Sea World, and better than Storm Coaster is ridiculous. This would have been a good choice for Dreamworld, clearly. Storm Coaster is perfect for Sea World and should be an awesome addition
  17. I was thinking the same thing. They've put so much into this. Hope it pays off for them.
  18. Quite impressive - on many levels. Who would have thought we'd see the day when Adventure World in Perth would have a roller coaster that far exceeds anything at Dreamworld. And while both parks added horror-themed attractions this year, one is a rehashed laser tag arena, while the other is a very decent, full circuit, themed, partially indoor roller coaster. Says it all
  19. Thanks for the pics gdalby. Looks like more work has been done on the front of the show building with more containers added. Looking forward to seeing the entry portal theming for the splashdown transition into the show building
  20. Craptacular! How surprising that Luna Park's new ride is about as standard/boring/carnie/portable as you can get. Lindsay Fox's promise to restore the park into something special remains very unfulfilled
  21. That is very generous of them. Most companies would just say "too bad you missed out". The complaining families SHOULD be grateful for this. But we know they won't be
  22. Yeah you are right - the wording does make it sound like 2 sessions. In regard to the offer - how do you know it will be retrospective? It's rare for any company to do that
  23. Sorry to double post but I've just come across the first newspaper ad for Wet'n'Wild. Looks great. The offer should also please some of those families who have been bitching about prices. But what is even more interesting is the fact that we now know the park will be open until 10pm at night. Going by the artwork, it also looks like the slides might be rigged with some external lighting effects?
