  1. The constrictor, the tornado alley (ok, maybe more red and orange), and now the bowling alley. The bowling alley colour scheme is identical to the constrictor - hard to tell them apart. Why couldn't they have made it orange and purple as it was in the video? Again, I just have major issues with the colour scheme chosen for the slides in this park. In fact, I find it hard to believe there has been any colour strategy at all. More like the roll of a dice...
  2. Someone at Wet 'n' Wild Sydney really likes yellow and red
  3. That actually looks really fun and smooth (well, going by the CGI PoV). I think you'd get a real sense of flying on this thing. Love the constant sweeps towards the ground, flying over gravestones
  4. That's interesting because News Corp papers have been continually saying that a yearly pass will cost $80. They better be careful - they don't want to upset price sensitive News Corp readers. Once the idea of 'bad value' sticks, it is hard to shake (mind you, I think $80 is incredibly cheap)
  5. If they didn't have the above lighting effects would it be pitch black in the funnel or is there likely to be ambient light?
  6. That's a good point. My only experience is with the Behemoth Bowl & Little Rippers at WhiteWater World. They all have steep drops into the bowl (from what I remember) so you fly into it and straight up the wall. Often you'd get to go around twice. I guess the trouble with the alleys is they just don't have that same angle of attack
  7. Thanks Gazza. Glad they are putting in a bowl slide. Wet 'n' Wild has not been much of a bowl fan up till now, but I personally think they are one of the most fun & unique slides when done well
  8. This is looking great so far. And apparently it's $12m.... more than the GC parks normally spend on an attraction! Interesting that Adventure World is suddenly stepping up to the plate. Maybe they've just been saving up lots of money over the last few years to make this thing happen.
  9. Excactly. I think it's a case of this park having so many slides, it inevitably ends up almost doubling up on some stuff. A problem I'm happy for it to have. And I think there's enough of a difference between both the Tantrum and the Rattler for them both to be worthwhile. Certainly from a guest perspective they look different. I'm really looking forward to riding them!
  10. I don't know why they didn't just go with the slide colours in that video. Dark blue, purple, green and lighter blue works much better for the master blasters than 2 SLIGHTLY different shades of red side by side
  11. And can anyone explain the one piece of orange slide section in the purple slide on the far left? So random. None of the other slides have one out of place piece. What's going on?? (Photo taken from Thrill Zone International... which took it from somewhere else)
  12. Is it my imagination or are the 2 middle master blasters 2 slightly different shades of red? Colour choices really baffling me
  13. Well it looks like it's happening so - believe it. It's a lot cheaper hiring a few staff members as opposed to outlaying capital for a new ride. Plus they'd probably pay them the bare minimum knowing theme parks
  14. So does this mean they are ditching the laser aspect of the attraction?
  15. A tall coaster with prominent support beams is a problem I am VERY happy to have in an Australian theme park
  16. When a mod gets a chance to merge the last few posts into the new Todd Coates thread, that'd be great!
  17. This should be moved into a new thread. Can't believe Todd Coates is leaving already. He was in there for such a short time. He actually had theme park experience and we were all hopeful this meant good things for the park. What does this resignation tell you about Dreamworld's situation! My guess is he was frustrated by the Ardent board of directors' lack of true theme park vision and understanding.
  18. The cheapest looking theme park building ever. So hideous. And so out of place in that themed area. And it was no better when that big flat sign was attached either. UPDATED: I should clarify - I actually have no problem with theme park 'sheds'. Some of the world's best rides are located in big sheds (show buildings): Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, Indiana, Lassiters/Bermuda, Scooby. BUT at least hide it with a decent facade AND place it in an appropriate area
  19. Amen to that! What is it about this site that once very couple of months like clockwork draws a new user who feels the need to add totally random and unnecessary comments to every thread?
  20. This is brilliant MikeMac, and clearly I'm not the only one who thinks so. Just wish you'd contribute to the forums more often! It seems to me the ride is an almost perfect fit for the old Bermuda site, with only a small extension of the building needed to accommodate the final indoor turn, plus the need for some of the coaster section pylons to be built over an existing path. Utilising the old show building for an indoor section will give this ride that extra special feature that we have come to expect from Village Roadshow rides. And maybe they can save the car park for another coaster one day...
  21. But they used to make an obvious attempt to link the rides to a corresponding movie. For example, the elaborate chinatown area of Lethal Weapon, the car yard and the pre-show movie they played in the cinema. Same with Scooby - the massive pre-show area showed a video with behind the scenes of the Scooby movie. The theming used throughout Scooby was also taken directly from the movie. And again with Wild Wild West - that was the actual name of a movie featuring Will Smith
  22. Have to disagree with that. They USED to build attractions based on movies eg. Lethal Weapon and Wild Wild West (now Wild West Falls) but now they just build attractions based on DC or whatever else eg. Arkham Asylum, Green Lantern (can't say it's based on the movie version), Justice League, Mini Kids Driving School... if it hasn't been axed
  23. To clarify, I wasn't having a dig (I know it sounded like I was). I just meant that Village Parks of late seem to care little about the connection to each park's original theme or intention. However, I see a closer connection between Sea World and the wild theme - as long as they remain predominantly a marine-based park. Movie World however, as much as I still love most of what they do, seems to have completely let go of the movie theme
  24. Cancel it!! Put something better in! (wishful thinking)
