  1. Yeah, 'cause we all know Justice League and Mini Kids Driving School is closely linked to the concept of "Movie"World
  2. Looking at that view it helps me understand why there is not much room left for a long course throughout the show building, particularly considering the angle of attack of the splashdown. Bermuda used to have a splashdown section that ran the full length of the building but was actually outside the main building. This has been demolished. Also, with Bermuda, all of the guest accessible areas and loading took place outside the building with only the dark ride itself taking place inside. It appears the building will now be partly guest accessible for the first time and will contain the station, again reducing space for the dark ride component
  3. Thanks for the article. The red and orange slide pieces in one of those photos I'm guessing is for the Tornado Wave. It was green in the concept images. Update: Changed my mind... could be the Tantrum Alley.
  4. Looks great! Best theming I've seen for a Mack water coaster vehicle yet. 'Thrill Zone International' is getting all the scoops!
  5. I didn't realise there was going to be a constrictor too. I'm assuming it's the last green slide in the photo below? That is going to be one busy tower!
  6. That's hysterical! I love that they try to use the ride's remnants as a selling feature. Next they'll be suggesting that the asphalt paths around Dreamworld are actually a type of ride/attraction. I mean, you get to walk along them, so they are kind of like a track - a sort of 'roller coaster', if you will. Sort of reminds me of how Wonderland's PR department must have felt when Sunway took over: trying to excuse the fact that there really just isn't sufficient investment in the park.
  7. Thanks Julys. Are you able to get a closer pic of that sign? I'm interested to see the photos on it. It looks like the guys above were right - it is a WhiteWater West Whizzard, but with additional twists at the beginning. I like the fact that they are going with a mix of both WhiteWater AND Proslide products for this park. They both have some great products to offer
  8. I'm actually struggling to find exactly what model this slide is. Clearly, it's a type of racer. I'm thinking it's a combined Kraken/Octopus racer from Proslide? I can't seem to find any existing models of this type... they're either usually one or the other. So perhaps it's a 'world first'?
  9. New construction update care of Julys: Check out the racer from about 4:01. It's a true tangle of tubes, some with translucent sections. Impressive. Can't wait to see the rest of it!
  10. Great question. I'm hoping there is some grand plan to explain the 'choices'...
  11. And what do you think Flea? How does it look?
  12. I wonder when they actually ripped out all of the theming and ride infrastructure? Same with Bermuda. They seem to be able to do these removals without anyone noticing anything... and yet I imagine they'd be a big job.
  13. July's construction videos on YouTube are far better. Much closer pics of the slides: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VKtv7pdHAc0
  14. I found your pics on youtube. Very 'interesting' colour choices so far. I will have to reserve my judgement until I've seen a bit more. But at this stage the white tube on the 8 lane racer mixed in with all the other colours looks quite odd
  15.     Where's your page Julys? I was wondering where you had disappeared to!
  16. Still, 'small' doesn't sound very promising either I have no doubt that Village will do a great job though. It is very rare for them to order the bare minimum model of any attraction and not spruce it up in some way or do something special. I do think it would be much better to have a longer dark ride section. A 2.5 minute major attraction is just so short. But even if this does end up being the case, it will be far, far better than anything Dreamworld has done recently and still a great ride
  17. Ok you might be right on that. I was never totally sure. Yeah, I remember thinking the lift shaft section, at the very least, was new. Update: if you have a look at this pic it shows an obvious line and colour difference in the show building external wall. So perhaps the whole thing was extended for height afterall? http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coast/Warner_Bros_Movie_World/248-Scooby_Doo_Spooky_Coaster/1,3,507-Scooby_Doo_Spooky_Coaster_Construction.html
  18. Colliric you are so far off. Please look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_stage As rac said, the show buildings (the proper name for dark ride 'ride buildings') at Movie World were all specifically designed to look like sound stages (the film equivalent of a television studio). This was purely for theming purposes and a way of helping the huge show buildings fit aesthetically into the park. This was also a cheap way of doing it compared to parks like Disney and Universal who spend large amounts of money camouflaging, theming or otherwise concealing their show buildings. Gazza - you suggested the Scooby show building was pre-existing. I can't remember if we've had this conversation before but I'm pretty sure the building for the actual coaster section is either new or was heavily modified. I'm almost positive it was significantly smaller height-wise for the Gremlins ride.
  19. Are you talking about the airtime hill at the end of the splashdown? If so, this is referred to in the latest Parkz update
  20. It's hard to tell based on the photos so far but I think the flume channel stretches right to the far end of the building before turning to go back to the station. Is that correct?
  21. If that does end up being the layout, I'm surprised they are not making more use of the old show building. Just think about how much it used to contain when it was used for Lassiter's Lost Mine then Bermuda. These were both lengthy rides with numerous large scenes. Obviously, in order to utilise the space in that way, they'd need to go with a typical zig-zagging dark ride track layout. This doesn't appear to be what they're going for based on what we've seen so far.
  22. Very excited about the reference to fire. Work it Sea World!
  23. I don't like the name but I do quite like the logo. In relation to this not being included as part of WB kids, they are probably trying to single it out as a more major individual attraction. Also gives a much needed fleshing out of their kids rides section on the website
