  1. Not trying to dis the attractions at all because so far they all look pretty good BUT is it my imagination or do the duelling master blasters only have ONE uphill section? From what I can make out they have one dip at the top followed by the only uphill part then turn a corner and come out into a long straight splashdown channel. Masters blasters are one of the most fun waterslide attractions out there and this would likely make them one of the most popular slides - surely it would therefore make sense to install a decent full-length version?
  2. And I've just noticed that the Movie World website listing for this ride has 3 different names for it on the same page! It has TWO logos in the header, each with different names. Then the main text/copy refers to a different name again. For such a decent ride, I can't help but think the marketing has fallen short. No sign of any advertising for either of the new attractions (Constrictor, Justice League) down here in NSW either
  3. And now we have THREE names: Justice League: Alien Invasion 3D (on the logo), Justice League 3D - The Ride (on the park website and various other places) and now Justice League - The Ride (commercial announcement)
  4. I think the Starro enemy is a great choice. Who cares if he's not well-known in the DC universe? He's a psycho guy from outer space who can send an entire army of his alien spores to take over entire cities by attaching to peoples (and animals) faces, and thereby controlling them. It's awesome!
  5. GREAT review Gazza! The attention to detail shown in the theming and effects utilised in this ride sound beyond impressive. So pleased to hear that. It seems that the PoV video that we have seen was taken with a number of the animatronics and effects yet to be commissioned or at least before they were fully functioning. I say this because I noticed in the main city scene the character with the 'Stop' sign was motionless in the PoV video, yet in the video with Sally's CEO, this same character was waving around frantically. I also noticed the door to the shop did not pop open, as I guess it is meant to. The fireman (or whatever he is) character out the front of the shop also seemed to be vibrating in the PoV video, which sometimes happens when an animatronic isn't functioning properly. Gazza, you mentioned an explosion effect after the Starro battle scene. This didn't appear to feature in the PoV video either. I did think it all seemed a bit too quiet and non-eventful after the Starro battle and his subsequent defeat, so any extra effect here would be welcome
  6. Movie World should really take this ride out of the 'thrill ride' section and put it back into 'family rides'. Otherwise they are setting people up for something it is not. Also, have they released a version of the logo with the new name? Or are we back to the same issue we had with Arkham Asylum/Coaster/Shock Therapy? Sorry to keep mentioning this but it is my PET PEEVE! Get your marketing and branding sorted Movie World
  7. Yeah let's be serious here for a moment - this attraction looks REALLY fantastic and brings Movie World back to its original very high theming standard. We can certainly thank Sally for that. While this may not be a thrill ride that appeals to older teens looking to be thrown all over the place, my bet is this is going to be a HIT with families. And just remember these comments are coming from me and I'm normally one of the picky ones
  8. I'm really impressed by the lighting in this ride and some of the effects such as the Green Lantern projection and corresponding spaceship doors opening. It looks like a really great dark ride and so nice to see Movie World back to its old standard. I just sincerely hope Movie World keeps on top of the maintenance - this includes ensuring all those great lighting effects etc. don't die a bit further down the track!
  9. I like that they've gone with Starro as the villain. The fact that the Starro's are attached to the faces of the people in the city... it's a nice touch
  10. Starro is a villain from the DC universe: http://www.google.com.au/search?q=starro&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=UxBcUPilIsaZiQfY3IHYAQ&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1212&bih=633
  11. Maybe it should have been 'Justice League 3D - The Battle'. We know it is a ride, but the main feature of this ride will not be standard ride movements (I'm assuming the ride vehicle will just move slowly along the track). The main feature will be the shooting and interactive effects. Either way, I just wish the Movie World team would make a decision and stick with it. If I was the marketing manager I'd make sure the name of the ride was decided on before releasing it. Standard stuff
  12. So you think the the new more simplified name with 'The Ride' instead works better? I'm assuming this was their plan. Should we probably change the name of this thread too
  13. So it looks like Movie World have now officially changed the name to 'Justice League 3D - The Ride'. There is now no reference to 'Alien Invasion' in the blurb on the website (apart from the old logo which I ASSUME will be changed). A bit disappointing as I know a lot of us really liked the original name. But my guess is they are doing this because there may have been a misconception that this was just a movie attraction, due to the 3D reference. Adding 'The Ride' makes it a little clearer. I won't mind as long as they are actually consistent with the name and logo and make a final decision - unlike we saw with Arkham Asylum - Shock Therapy/Arkham Asylum Coaster/Arkham Asylum
  14. Can I just say, being the big design fan that I am - the new background wallpaper for the Movie World website mainpage looks fantastic. Those zombies all lurching towards you with the mainstreet roof covering making it clear it's at Movie World. Really nicely done. They should keep that artist!
  15. I think WhiteWaterworld gave up. Quite pathetic really. This looks way better than your 'average' constrictor. Impressive!
  16. Based on all the plans released so far, how do you guys think Jamberoo compares to Wet 'n' Wild Sydney? Which one do you think will be 'better'?
  17. Surely they HAVE to have kept the duelling master blasters. That will/would be the best part
  18. A-MAZ-ING!!!! I am so pleased to see a REAL FACADE back at Movie World. It's like they've gone back to the the mid 90's when they actually believed in authentic theming. So good!
  19. This thread suddenly became really funny. "At worst your feet might touch"... that's pretty awkward!
  20. I know right! I'm all for passive entertainment. It's bad enough that we actually have to shoot at things. Actually just on that note, I think the difference between these 2 rides says it all about the quality of Movie World (Village) compared to Dreamworld (Ardent). Dreamworld's laser attraction is a laser tag arena which you can find pretty much anywhere and had a low capital spend. Movie World's laser attraction is a $10 million dollar state-of-the-art RIDE utilising sets, animatronics, 3D screens, effects, proper moving vehicles etc. It might be a rough/unfair comparison but I really think it says something about the mentality of the 2 different parks
  21. Great news. I'm personally quite excited about this attraction. I'm a big fan of any boat/raft slides. I'm a total wimp so slides like Aqua Loop don't interest me in the slightest. I'm not interested in pain or to feel like I'm drowning from all the water rushing up my nose
  22. Wow, never been to Movie World? I would be SO excited if I was you. Discovering all of those incredible attractions for the first time. It really is a great park
  23. Village Roadshow released their results today and the Chief Executive, Graham Burke, had this to say about Wet 'n' Wild Sydney: "[it will be] the best water park in the world - and that's not just rhetoric. In that market, a city of that size without a theme park -- I think it’s going to explode". I totally agree with him. He also confirmed it would open in December 2013.
