  1. Great to hear from you again after all this time Richard! I think that's a really important point regarding Sally being both the ride manufacturer and the theming company. I think there's no denying that Movie World's theming standards have slipped with their last few attractions, maybe not to a terrible level, but certainly not matching their past efforts. But with Sally on board, they will have no choice but to have great theming! Hopefully Movie World will see from the success of this ride that it is worth their while creating truly immersive and well-themed attractions
  2. I think that's great. So many other parks would have been lazy and just left it as it was if they hadn't completed it as part of initial construction. Well done
  3. It sounds amazing. 16 animatronics? Fantastic! Just when I thought Village Roadshow were giving up on animatronics. So pleased they aren't
  4. You are spot on with the comment above. I couldn't agree more
  5. FAIL MOVIE WORLD/S&S!!! Sorry just had to get that out of my system
  6. I really like the choice of name for the new ride, I think it works really well. But I just wonder why they didn't release any concept art or logo to go with yesterdays announcement. Seems a bit odd. What was it about yesterday that made them decide to announce it, even though they didn't provide any other new material to go with it? I'm assuming considering the magnitude of this attraction that it won't be another marketing failure like Arkham
  7. Totally agree. What a fantastic addition. And so pleased to be welcoming a DARK RIDE back to the park!!
  8. 3 parks for a whole year only $99.... crazy cheap madness!
  9. ...and the main simulator building appears to be significantly smaller in height than both the library and batcave buildings. Compared to most of the show buildings/sound stages at Movie World, I'd say it is actually one of the smallest in terms of height
  10. Well that's great. STILL NO AUDIO despite it being advertised as a major feature and a return to the 'roughness' of its previous incarnation. FAIL
  11. "Gone are the days of Giant Drops and roller coasters" ... what a load of crap! I hate it when journalists come out with sweeping statements like that. There have been so many claims about the end of traditional theme park rides over the years and the replacement with virtual reality attractions etc. it's never eventuated and it never well. I also don't buy the line "Dreamworld's Bob Tan is on the lookout for new attractions". No he isn't. It's Dreamworld we're talking about. As much as I'd love to think Dreamworld management would actually go to these theme park conventions overseas and consider purchasing a really decent new ride, I just don't see it happening. Village Roadshow on the other hand...
  12. Yes, if they were items being taken AWAY rather than installed, then surely that can't be secret
  13. Okay from this comment it's safe to assume you know something
  14. That thing has had its fair share of re-themes and relocations over the years anyway. It's probably very tired. When the park first opened it was called the Roulette and was, funnily enough, themed to a giant roulette wheel with accompanying cards and dice theming as the centrepiece
  15. You are probably right. Unless they are referring to an 'antarctic adventure' style ride, as opposed to another animal exhibit. More than likely I am just being hopeful that something is going to be done soon with Bermuda and am clutching at straws
  16. Not that we take too much notice of what people say on facebook but somebody posted on Sea World's page "Bermuda is going to be a antarctic theming but Sea World - Gold Coast, Australia isn't telling anyone just yet". Just seems strange that someone would be that specific if there is nothing in it. Worth watching
  17. That's true. Although Ghost Hunters was a different style of shooting ride compared to the type we are talking about. It was essentially a 'moving video game'. The individual ride cars moved around a track but you weren't shooting at objects and sets, rather you were shooting at computer graphics that were being projected onto the screen of your vehicle
  18. If that ends up being the case I think this will be an excellent addition to MW. Not only would it bring a much-needed dark ride to the park (especially after the recent closures) but would also be bringing a whole new type of ride to Australia. Shooting dark rides are incredibly popular in the US. Of course we can trust good old Village Roadshow parks to deliver once again
  19. LOL! Exactly! That's why I can't understand why so many people thought it was going to be a Spiderman/Transformers style attraction considering how small the space is. I guess maybe some people weren't aware of the size. I know when I found out there was going to be a new attraction going into the old Batman building the first thing I did was look at Google maps to try and see what they would be working with
  20. I think you'll find it's the other way around! My guess is this will be the last one for a while. One of the top managers from MW did mention in an article that they were creating a superhero precinct and I'd say the Spring attraction will complete the area for now. Will be good to see them focus on other areas and themes and I'm sure that's what they'll do next
  21. I guess this means Bermuda is going to CONTINUE to sit dormant. I suppose it wouldn't really have mad sense to open a major new ride at both MW and SW at the same time. Hopefully this means there is still hope the Bermuda site WILL be turned back into a decent ride at some point
  22. I'd have to agree with reanimated - the park needs some more rides. I remember as a kid wanting to go to Sea World for, believe it or not, the rides. I remember getting so excited walking through those gates and knowing I'd soon be hopping on Lassiter's Lost Mine Ride, the flume and the thrillseeker rollercoaster. For me as a dark ride fan even as a kid, Lassiter's was something really special. I agree that the animal attractions are great at Sea World and certainly give older people who might not want to go on the rides something to enjoy. But Sea World has always been about rides too and right now that is lacking. I get a feeling that might not be the case for too much longer though...
