  1. I wonder if they made any modifications to Fully Six to rectify the 'risk of internal trauma' or whether they've decided it was a one off?
  2. Ride looks fun but it's clear they've spent as little as possible on the rock theming elements. 'The cave' definitely didn't deserve its own media release. The fact that they didn't build the mountain facade that was in the original render to cover the Sky Voyager building is a real shame. You spend a good chunk of the ride staring into the AC units.
  3. Love the description of the oil refinery towers! That's exactly what it looks like. As I mentioned previously, Wet'n'Wild was doing some cool stuff in terms of theming and presentation with White Water Mountain and Calypso Beach, but that period unfortunately came to an end, I'm guessing with new management. I like the transparent slide pieces on Kaboom!, but I notice the colour doesn't match the logo or concept(?) at all.
  4. The best additions at WnW in my opinion were Whitewater Mountain and Calypso Beach. It was the first time they brought strong thematic elements and a real sense of international standard excitement to the park. It has been disappointing that since then they went back to generic additions with no theming and a distinct lack of imagination
  5. The new Road Runner sign uses some relief though? Not as much as the old WWF sign, but it's still there
  6. How sad is it walking into DW now and seeing that cheap white 'modern' awning and facade around Sky Voyager? Being a theme park, as if you wouldn't have run with the existing theme in that area and just jazzed up significantly the existing heritage style building. So much more character. And now there's more white vinyl stretching as far as the eye can see with Taipan. Do current Gold Coast theme park bosses realise they are in charge of THEME parks?
  7. I believe Movie World now has their own sign printing workshop which makes these in-house. Not sure if they've always had it? I don't think it's too bad in this case because the new RR logo is decent plus there is a little bit of relief in the signage, and it looks like it has been placed on fake track for extra dimension? The Scooby Next Gen one was terrible though. Hoping this won't become a standard for major attraction signage - they need to stick with whichever company made the Doomsday signage (Sculpt Studios?)!
  8. Totally agree. And let's not forget that they actually lowered demand themselves by having a major accident and then removing a significant number of popular attractions.
  9. Just further confirmation that the GC theme parks are ditching theming in favour of a cheap contemporary aesthetic, which is a sad, sad time. The whole point of theme parks is to be an escape from the modern world. They are going against trends overseas, where even smaller parks are embracing immersive theming.
  10. So sad that DW is just one big compromise these days. It could have been so different!
  11. Does it look like they are still going to build that large rock hill/wall to hide the Sky Voyager building? Can't see any evidence for it but it was in the rendering
  12. So if it's in excellent condition and has plenty of spare parts, why on earth are they getting rid of yet another ride? Even if it had some issues and wasn't incredibly popular, it just doesn't make sense to get rid of it considering how poor/small DW's line-up is now.
  13. Most definitely a commercial building, and yes was granted to -- and built by -- Multiplex, as I understand it, as part of the deal to 'help fund the amusement park' initially
  14. The design of the track certainly looks quite different to existing single rail coasters (it's just been RMC so far right?). Obviously it's a more rounded and less boxy design. Looks like there's a bit more detail in terms of the grooves and flanges too. Does anyone who knows what they're talking about (ie. not me) want to discuss the differences?
  15. Yet one of the issues with Justice League is that the show building is actually too small for anything with a bit more ambition?
  16. I loved that they talked about ride procurement and what goes into deciding what ride to build next. It's a fascinating process - I would have loved more detail. It was a great video, and only the first of 5
  17. What are the chances the gremlins on the back of the float are old animatronics from the ride? I'm assuming slim?
  18. They managed to do it in the old days with elaborate facades, artwork and decorative buildings.
  19. Good to see some of the details being finalised - shading, permanent queue ramps and rails, operator booths for each attraction, painting and backdrops. Its certainly not immersive but it's a substantial improvement and what was there before.
  20. What a brilliant attraction and absolutely perfect for a movie park! There are so many details and they are all spot on. This was built in the old Looney Tunes River / Ice Age show building. Waaay better use of the space than a kids driving school and storage shed!
  21. Must be a mad scramble to get everything done by opening! Looked like there was still a lot of ground work and finishing touches. It may open not fully complete, but hopefully any details will be filled in soon after and not just left as good enough.
  22. Sega World was awesome. I remember visiting one night not long after it first opened (it used to be open really late) and me and my friend had the best time. Huge amounts of immersive theming with dedicated zones - truly an indoor theme park. I mean it even had a nicely themed indoor roller coaster that packed a punch. Plus an interactive ghost train. It was definitely something special.
  23. Totally agree! Looks out of place at the moment, but as others have said hoping extensive landscaping and theming may help with that.
  24. As much as I'm not a fan of the names or logos, I do appreciate that LPS are announcing each attraction as they are completed, giving each ride some good attention. I also think the Maloney's Corner area is going to be great - so much going on in one area. It should have some great energy. Only thing I would hope for is a few pieces of decent theming and signage to complete the atmosphere.
