  1. What info are you referring to MS? Have fun tonight and be sure to let us know all about it
  2. They haven't finished recruiting everyone yet? That is going to be some seriously rushed training
  3. Just heard from my contact that they are holding a staff session tomorrow night (think someone else mentioned this on here already). This will be followed by a media day on Tuesday and night time official launch. Grant Denyer from Sunrise should be up to do some spots on Wednesday morning and Triple M Cage on Friday. The commercials will also apparantley start on Friday. It's good to see the marketing finally being kicked into gear, and not a moment too soon
  4. I found a site which looks to be using some of the official WWW photographs. Have a look at http://www.queensland-holidays.com.au/whit...-world_home.cfm This site actually looks more appealing visually than the official WWW website in my opinion. The sooner they incorporate these new images (using the ACTUAL rides at WWW and not just stock photos) into the official site the better!
  5. I think I may have found a bit of the WWW theme song. If you click on the interactive map on the official website and roll your mouse over the WWW entry building you used to hear the DW theme tune. This has now been modified with a new jingle which sounds to be specifically for WWW. I have to say it is quite catchy. This hopefully means the commerical isn't too far away
  6. Yes I agree that the skyline for Movie World really is starting to look special. How can you say you don't want our parks to look like American parks? American parks are some of the best in the world without a doubt!! I'd love our parks to look like US parks (minus a couple of the dodgy ones) and thankfully SOME of them are slowly heading in that direction
  7. I would suggest writing in and telling them how you feel and how you think these websites actually benefit them
  8. I think in some ways the Max Action Pass with the after 3:30pm entry into WhiteWater World could work reasonably well. I know if I loved up that way I wouldn't mind spending most of the day at Dreamworld and finishing with an hour or 2 in the waterpark. I think you'd also find the cap would probably be relaxed by the time the arvo rocked around and I doubt they'd refuse MAP holders anyway
  9. Well for those that have been feeling a little starved of WhiteWater World photo updates recently, you can find a number of great photos in the Macq Leisure annual general meeting report at http://www.macquarie.com.au/au/property/ac...ddress_2006.pdf There are a few pages of photos. I am particularly impressed with the theming of the wave pool, that is one area where they really got the theming right. The cave wall looks brilliant and I love the 3 waterfalls
  10. Now if that's not a membership benefit then I don't know what is. It's every park fans biggest dream - a private preview of a brand new park. So who's going??
  11. Still seems like a bit of a tight timeframe although I know the tower structure is pretty much up. Who else thinks it is going to be a bit of a rush job similar to Superman Escape or Extreme H20 Zone? Let's hope the theming quality doesn't suffer as it did with those 2 attractions
  12. Wet 'n' Wild is certainly getting in first on all these shows before WhiteWater World has a chance to. The difficult thing for WWW is the fact that the park is opening in December which is when a lot of TV programs have finished for the year. It is the non ratings period
  13. It's funny how in some respects the theming works well and in others they have just completely missed the target. The 'dogs' are an example of where the theming has gone wrong. I'd say Atomiq is just trying to be a little too left of centre for a family theme park at times. Better weird theming than no theming at all though I reckon. Gazza - remember the reason they did not call it Bluewater Bay is because of this - http://www.bluewaterbay.com.au
  14. Are they still using the generic 'stock' photos for the signs or have they finally got some photos of their own attractions?
  15. Great, sounds like at least some of our users will be able to share some photos/TR's with us... looking forward to it. What new signs are you referring to Tony?
  16. At this stage I have not been able to get any confirmation on whether our Aussie park fansites will be covering the opening of WhiteWater World. I know that Richard is looking into it but cannot confirm at this stage whether R-C.com.au will be able to provide any photos etc. I asked Ozcoaster but have not yet received a response. I'm really hoping that someone will put something together considering this is the first new park in 14 years. So what I was wanting to know is, who out there is planning to visit WWW either on its opening day or within the next few days after opening? If any of you are planning to visit it'd be great if you could take some photos to post later. It would also be excellent to hear the first trip reports and really get an idea on how this park has turned out
  17. I am pretty sure most of the rides will have the logo's displayed on the individual ride signage. I certainly hope so as this helps add a lot to the theming. I know that this is definitely the case with (as you said) the Rip and also the Hydrocoaster and Green Room. It is logical that the others would be the same. I like the way you can hear the surf god Huey 'groaning' when you run your mouse over the Cave of Waves. I certainly hope they actually use this sound effect at the park via speakers to signify when the waves are starting up
  18. Yes you are both just implying what I've already said. Read my post again and I'm sure you will see you are thinking exactly the same thing
  19. I agree that it seems a little late but I have a bit of a theory. So much of the WhiteWater World press/print/online marketing up until this point has used generic archive photos. This is obviously because the park is still under construction. What you end up with is a bunch of cheesey pictures of American looking families and average looking waterslides. It doesn't truly represent WWW. Now that the park is almost complete I assume they will be able to get in there and get actual photos and footage of their own rides in action. Apparantley someone saw a film crew in there the other day. So I wouldn't be surprised if they start pumping out the ads anytime over the next 2 or 3 weeks. They can put it all together in post production pretty quickly if they have to. I think the end result will be much better as WWW's attractions are so distinctive with their signature colours and designs
  20. Richard - with a little under 3 weeks to go, I was wondering what sort of coverage r-c.com.au has planned for the opening of WhiteWater World. Considering it is the first Gold Coast park in 15 years I assume you have something up your sleeve and would be keen to hear what we can expect
  21. You wouldn't think it's so fun if you dropped into the pool upside down on your head. I have seen it happen
  22. I think the park has really come ahead presentation wise. I really like the design and colours of those shade structures around the park next to the pathways. The landscaping and pool finishes is also helping to bring everything together. The only area I'm not a huge fan of is the Temple of Huey but I guess they have had restrictions due to its position next to the Cyclone. I still can't get over how poorly manafactured the bluey/grey 'transparent' section of the blue slide is. The colour of the individual slide pieces is so inconsistent and there is even a piece or 2 where it looks like there is rust or some other discolouring at the fibreglass join. If I was DW I'd be asking for a partial refund. As I said though the rest of the park is looking really good at this stage, with still a few finishing touches to go yet. The Green Room and Hydrocoaster look excellent from that angle. The colours are working well although surprisingly it appears that Wiggle Bay is the least colourful section of the whole park when you'd think it would be the opposite. Thanks very much for the pics
  23. Thanks for the update. Apparantley they had some issues with the BRO shade. Originally it was going to be made of a proper shade membrane but due to wind loadings they changed it to shade cloth. Also, the guy that is putting it together also did the FlowRider area. He was running late with that and it looks like he is running late with this too. Under 3 weeks to go I'm sure they will want to tie up all these loose ends asap or they will be regretting bringing the opening date forward. Although opening with an unfinished park is not totally rare
  24. No way. The body slide version is terrible - thank god they went with the Behemoth. You have to remember that the Behemoth Bowl is a NEWER, MUCH BIGGER version of the traditional Bowl Slide. Why would you want the old slide when you can go with new and improved? Not to mention the fact that the original bowls were extremely painful with a terrible direct drop from the mouth of the bowl straight into the pool. I'm sure they no doubt cause a number of injuries so not a very sensible attraction for a waterpark to install. I think they have certainly made the right choice with the Behemoth
  25. Why on earth Dreamworld would win the Major Tourist Attraction for this year is beyond me. What have they done this year to deserve this? It should have gone to Movie World in my opinion. Just shows how much the judges really know. "Hmm, who should win it this year? I know, Dreamworld! People always seem to like Dreamworld!"
