  1. No way. The body slide version is terrible - thank god they went with the Behemoth. You have to remember that the Behemoth Bowl is a NEWER, MUCH BIGGER version of the traditional Bowl Slide. Why would you want the old slide when you can go with new and improved? Not to mention the fact that the original bowls were extremely painful with a terrible direct drop from the mouth of the bowl straight into the pool. I'm sure they no doubt cause a number of injuries so not a very sensible attraction for a waterpark to install. I think they have certainly made the right choice with the Behemoth
  2. Why on earth Dreamworld would win the Major Tourist Attraction for this year is beyond me. What have they done this year to deserve this? It should have gone to Movie World in my opinion. Just shows how much the judges really know. "Hmm, who should win it this year? I know, Dreamworld! People always seem to like Dreamworld!"
  3. I don't know I just find this video really disturbing. The girl ends up in a really bad position and it's like she is about to die, particularly from the way she is screaming. I don't quite get it
  4. But Sea World is actually written as 2 words and so is Movie World. Dreamworld is the only one which is written as one word (and of course Disneyland etc.) and without a capital 'W' for world. It is actually one of my pet peeves but it seems to be something people seem to have difficulty with especially in relation to theme park names. There are even a number of theme park fan sites which get the word spacing and capitals wrong in the park names (roller-coaster.com.au however is always spot on which is great). WhiteWater World is one of those which is already driving me crazy. We all know by now how Dreamworld has chosen to present the name but there are already so many people putting the capitals in the wrong place etc.... White Water World, Whitewater World, Whitewaterworld, WhiteWater World And just to bring it back on topic I better say something about the Eye. I agree that it is good to see that the park is not upcharging for this attraction which they could have so easily done if they were Dreamworld. While I am not personally excited about this ride I do think it will add great value to Sea World and is another nice complementing attraction for the Gold Coast if it becomes permanent
  5. But from what I worked out you don't actually save ANYTHING. You have to pay $2 extra for the World Pass. If you did save $2 buying the World Pass at least I would be able to see some tiny benefit but you don't even get that
  6. Can someone tell me if I am missing something here... what on earth is the point of purchasing a World Pass priced at $106 when adult entry to DW costs $62 and adult entry to WWW costs $42? Where is the saving? Isn't the whole point of these combined passes to give you a bit of a discount as you are essentially 'bulk buying'? Infact not only do you not save money, you have to pay an extra $2 if buying the World Pass. It seems crazy to me and I don't see any reason not to just buy the individual park passes. What benefit have I overlooked?
  7. Um not quite. If you refer to the thread regarding WWW opening ahead of schedule you would notice that I wrote this; 'Rumour has it the park may be opening even earlier than the 15th of December now'
  8. See this is one example where Dreamworld/WWW's annual pass options really fall down. Here we have a potential customer who would be very willing to buy an annual pass to both Dreamworld AND WhiteWater World. However, because WWW's pass does not allow access during peak periods, which is basically a large part of summer, she is going to buy a Wet 'n' Wild pass instead. WhiteWater World has just lost that potential revenue. The sooner WWW expands enough so that they don't have to worry about capacity and can get rid of the 'off peak' pass policy, the better
  9. The $185 pass gives you unlimited access to Dreamworld anytime but only allows access to WhiteWater World in the late afternoons just before it closes, and only in the off peak. So if you found you wanted to go to WWW more often, you could just buy a normal day entry which is only $42 anyway. I wouldn't buy a Wet 'n' Wild pass if I was you - it's all about WhiteWater World this year. But then again I would buy a Movie World annual pass rather than a Dreamworld one at the moment
  10. It really doesn't sound like DW has done a good job putting together these new annual passes if people are already (and understanderbly) getting confused by them. I think they definitely need some fine tuning otherwise I feel sorry for the poor staff in DW's and WWW's Guest Relations offices when people start complaining when the pass isn't all they were expecting it to be
  11. Good to finally hear about this. And what a surprise Dreamworld is building another walk-thru attraction (sarcasm). Well it certainly confirms everything we were thinking. I think we all knew it was going to be something lame like an animal attraction, a 'recreational' attraction or a walk -thru keeping in with Dreamworld's recent passion for NO CAPITAL EXPENDITURE. Such a shame. In saying that though, I know that this company creates very popular walk-thru attractions and it will probably go down well. So I am certainly not totally against it but it is no substitute for a real ride. I'm assuming this is only going to be temporary too, do you think? What concerns me is that they are holding auditions for actors on the 26th of November and the attractions opens 2nd December. So that gives them no time for rehearsals. Dreamworld are going to have to pull some pretty major stuff out next year or forget it
  12. Yes I also dislike them, very much. The website has some good points such as the detail on the rides and attractions but the dog people are not good. I also hate the story that goes along with them on the main page - 'Us dogs loved playing in the white water of the beach ... but then the "No Dogs Allowed" signs popped up! We were bummed at first, but decided to create a world where everyone could feel the rush of white water' ... such a sad attempt at tieing the theming and name in. Makes me cringe
  13. Rumour has it the park may be opening even earlier than the 15th of December now
  14. Um I have a simple suggestion for you. Do NOT go to Dreamworld. I do not understand why anyone would want to still visit with those 3 rides closed... it's ridiculous. If they had some new amazing coaster open then maybe it would be worth the visit but they don't, it's just the same old Dreamworld with 3 of their best rides closed. Go to Movie World
  15. Well sorry but it is a fact that Zencoaster promises a new update (or in this case a launch) just about every single week and it basically never actually happens. It is also a fact that in each one of these cases Tony would then delete any users posts that referred to the promised update. I'm not going to get into a discussion about this as I know Tony has his various excuses but all I'm saying is that AAL was reporting a fact. And besides that it's very funny. By the way, I doubt the person behind AAL would be jealous of someone being a ZC 'moderator'. The guy can write damn fine park related articles and I'm sure any site would love to have him on board as part of their editorial team. The writing is pretty much professional standard and a heck of a lot better than most of the articles on fan sites out there (R-C.com.au ofcourse excluded)
  16. Haha so true Adam... I totally agree. I really think we are going to get something rather sad plonked on the concrete slab and I have a feeling that it is once again going to be an attempt to 'diversify' Dreamworld and steer away from the traditional theme park. I'd like to see DW shift their focus back to where it should be but I just don't see it happening at the moment
  17. I'll be interested to see when they start advertising on TV as I haven't seen anything yet. So far I'd say the marketing has been fairly minimal. WnW has been going crazy over the last couple of months with promos and ads... I think it's time WWW really started getting stuck into it
  18. Speaking of theme park sites which promise a lot but deliver very little, http://australianamusementlowdown.blogspot.com has just added a new very funny/interesting article regarding Zencoaster. It points out that Zencoaster has started to delete users posts to hide the fact that they had promised a 'massive' site launch by the weekend. The article on AAL mentions that this all started on Sunday however it is something I have noticed Zencoaster has been doing for a while. I have seen countless promises of various photo updates over the last couple of months and have checked back on the specific date to find no update with all references and related posts deleted. Quite funny and some good investigative journalism once again on the part of AAL
  19. This sounds great and will be Australia's first permanent haunted house style attraction that I'm aware of. What a perfect fit for the Gold Coast
  20. That wouldn't surprise me in the slightest the way Dreamworld seems to be heading. First the FlowRider then a roller rink and look out for DW's most exciting new attraction (and economical!) opening next year - netball courts!
  21. My understanding from a business point of view is that while getting large numbers (in this case visitors) is a positive thing, it quickly becomes a major negative for the company if the numbers are too large to handle. This won't be such an issue for the park once it starts to expand, hopefully over the next couple of years. I think it's also really important to point out that price wars are NOT good for the theme park industry which means it's not good for any of you theme park fans either. While you may see short term benefits in getting a cheap ticket or pass, the park is going to suffer in the longer term ultimately leading to less new attractions etc. If WhiteWater World and Dreamworld had joined in with Wet 'n' Wild's (& Village parks in general) recent desperate and quite pathetic price slashing, we may begin to see some serious financial hurt at all of the parks. Thankfully they haven't. So overall I think the pricing is fair. They just need to look at tweaking some of their options such as the no visiting in the peak season for pass holders. They will hopefully also look at providing a bit more flexibility in the near future
  22. I think one thing to remember is that the quality of WhiteWater World far exceeds Wet 'n' Wild in many respects. As they say, they really do have the latest cutting edge attractions all with lots of theming and landscaping. I'd personally happily pay more to visit WWW which as far as I'm concerned is already the better park. The prices certainly don't worry me I just hope they don't get too many people off side who don't see it as good value
  23. My guess is that the park could be ensuring capacity does not become a major problem in its first year or so. If they offered prices similar or better than WnW's you can imagine there would be nothing stopping the park from being totally packed. Remembering that WWW is only aiming for close to half of WnW's attendance to start with, they can probably afford to miss out on a few customers due to higher prices. My only concern would be if this theory doesn't work out for them it will be very hard for them to shake their 'expensive' reputation. Once people decide a park is charging too much, they will usually continue to look at it as a rip off no matter how much it becomes discounted
  24. I love the way he(?) pays out all those numerous Aussie theme park 'sites' that promise so much yet deliver so little. What is it about this industry that tempts so many people to set up these fansites which are supposedly going to have the "ultimate theme park content, the latest news and thousands of pictures/videos/media" and yet only 1 or 2 of them actually follow through (well roller-coaster.com.au being the main one and I suppose also Ozcoaster because at least it doesn't promise to be anything it's not and has some good updates at times). The rest of them are basically just non-updated splash pages with the obligatory low-active forums attached
  25. The more I look through the website the more I realise what an incredible waterpark WhiteWater World is going to be. It really has totally exceeded my expectations. I've known for a while what attractions the park was going to get but just seeing it all come together on the website is awesome. One interesting thing I noticed is that the park is claiming the LIM rocket slide as one of only 2 in the world. What I'd like to know is where is the other one? This is brand new technology and as I understand it has never been attempted before. If ProSlide is in the process of planning/constructing another LIM rocket, surely WWW could still have claimed it as a world first?
